The flight back to Seattle was much shorter than the one to Forest, though it probably was because I had a lot to read. I got a little over a third of the way through the book by the time we dropped Bella off at her house.

Edward got out of the car and helped Bella with her bags. When they were walking up her house it kind of looked like they were arguing over something Bella was not happy about. They stood on her porch talking for a few minutes before they kissed (ew) and parted.

"What were you two talking about?" I asked as Edward closed his door.

"Nothing." He replied. Once we pulled out of the drive way his phone rang. "Yes, Alice?" Edward paused, listening to what Alice was saying. "Fine, we'll talk about everything when we get back. Bye." He hung up the phone and spoke to me, "When we get home we're having a family meeting to discuss . . . everything that has happened."

" 'Kay." I said, but I was really thinking 'or maybe it's about you being FUCKING VAMPIRES!' Yes, I know about them being vampires. It was in the book. The whole, pale skin, inhumanly beautiful and either gold or red eyes was what clued me in.

Edward looked up at me through the rear view mirror, looking slightly surprised, like he heard what I thought. Wait . . . the book said that some vampires have special talents, can Edward read minds?

'Hey, Eddie-boy, can you read minds?" I asked him through my thoughts.

"Yes, I can." He replied, chuckling. "So, the book had us in it?"

"Yup. It also mentioned something about the Volturi, who are they?" I asked.

"We'll tell you everything when we get back to the house." Edward hit the gas and sped up to at least a hundred.

"Holy crap!" I exclaimed at the sudden speed.

"You better get used to it. We prefer to drive very fast." He chuckled.

"No kidding." I mumbled.

"If you are going to say something you may as well say it in a normal volume. We can hear you anyways."

"Doesn't that ever get awkward?" I asked.

"Yes, it does."

When Edward and I walked into the dining room everyone was seated at the table.

"So, you know." Carlisle was the first to speak.

"Yup, everything was in the book. It also mentioned something about the Volturi. Who are they?" I questioned.

"The Volturi are basically vampire royalty. The three kings, Aro, who can see your every thought and memory from one touch, Marcus, who can see bonds, and Caius create laws every vampire has to follow."

"Whoa, wait. Vampires have laws?" I asked.

"Yes, they're few and basic, but very important. Do not draw attention, and any human who knows of out kind must be silenced, either meaning being turned or killed."

"Harsh much." I mumbled.

"Harsh indeed." Carlisle chuckled. "Along with the three royals, there are Aro's and Caius's mates, and the guard. The Volturi guard is made up of some of the most powerful vampires to walk the earth. Jane can cause mental pain so intense that is could kill a human and her brother, Alec can completely shut off all senses of his target. Demitri is the best tracker that the Volturi have ever been able to find and Felix has the strength of five newborns."

"Newborns are new vampires right? And they're much stronger and faster than regular vampires because they're human blood is still in their bodies?" I recalled.

"Yes, they are also more volatile because of the burning thirst and quickly changing moods." Jasper spoke.

"Yeah, I also read about the newborn wars in the south." I said.

"The newborn wars are crazy and uncontrolled. They leave much damage in their wake." Jasper said.

"You sound like you speak from experience." I said curiously.

Yes, because I have been through it. I was born in 1844 in Houston, Texas as Jasper Whitlock. When I turned 17 I joined the Confederate Army, I got away with it because I was tall for my age. In the next two years I was the youngest major in Texas, not even accounting my real age. I was on my way back to Galveston after evacuating women and children when I met them, Maria, Lucy and Nettie. I immediately dismounted to offer my aid, ignoring the bad feeling I was developing. I was taught to protect women, not fear them. Maria changed me because she was looking to make a newborn army to take back her lost land. Over time that land was gained back, but with many lost. Maria didn't care, she just made more. More newborns carving destruction throughout the south.

"Eventually Nettie and Lucy turned on Maria, but I sensed their wavering loyalty and we took then out. We won more wars, and I was in charge of training the newborns. My ability of controlling emotions helped keen the newborns under control. Along with that, I also had to dispose of them when their year was up. It was horrible because I could feel every emotion they did. I could feel the pain and fear, just like my human victims. I was very depressed. One day, I was to dispose of another group of newborns. A newborn named Charlotte was one of them. In wars I made a good friend named Peter. I convinced Maria to let him live, the only reason she agreed was because he was a good, strong fighter. Charlotte was Peters mate."

I gasped at this information. I knew their mate was the most important thing to a vampire, and usually seek out revenge if someone killed theirs.

"Peter tried talking me into keeping her, but I said no, Maria wanted them all gone. I was just about to kill her when Peter told her to run, and she did without a second thought." Jasper continued. "Peter ran after her, and I let then go. I could have caught them, and Maria was angry that I didn't. I could sense that she was fearful towards me, and she was plotting to have me destroyed, so I began doing the same. When I was about to put my plan into action, Peter came back for me. He told me about the north, and how there was no fighting there, how we could live peacefully. I left with him, and we met up with Charlotte sometime later. From then on, I tried to feed less but had to when the thirst became overwhelming. I left Peter and Charlotte and wandered on my own.

"In 1948 I had ran into a diner in Philadelphia, and that's where I met Alice. I was cautious at first, but when I felt her emotions, joy and happiness, that all melted away. She greeted me by name and said to me, 'You've been keeping me waiting for a long time, Jasper Whitlock.' Of course, I bowed my head and apologized. Alice then held out her hand and I took it without a second thought because for the first time in so many years I felt hope.

"As we traveled Alice told me about told me how vampires could live off of animal blood instead of human, and that there was a coven of vampires lead by Carlisle Cullen that did exactly that. We found then in 1950 we joined them."

"Yeah imagine our surprise when Emmett and I were out hunting and a scared army veterinarian came along towing this little freak and then her asking which room they could move into." Edward commented.

"Anyways," Jasper continued. "Alice and I eventually marred a few years later and I changed my last name to Hale so I could pose as Rosalie's twin in public."

"Wow. That is one hell of a history." I said after a minute.

Jasper chuckled at my reaction. "Yes, indeed it is."

"Wait!" I exclaimed. "I have to go to school!"

"How did you go from Jasper's history to school?" Emmett asked, confused.

"Well, he said he changed his last name to Hale for public purposes, public lead to school and school lead to me going to school." I shrugged.

"You are a strange girl, aren't you?" Emmett said.

"Yup!" I smiled

A/N: Sorry it's not long, but it's something. Alpha will be heading to school in the next chapter, and probably meeting Paul in the next. Oh, and I changed my Pen Name, just to let you know.

Lots of death, destruction, and darkness,
