Previously in Half Blood High~~
Something was going on between Percy and Annabeth. Even Thalia could tell… so why in the name of Hades was she with Luke?
-Weeks later. Thalia is already settled again and fighting with her dad. Her brother is still at SPQR and rarely sees her. Percy has been avoiding Annabeth and Annabeth and Luke's relationship is still going on. Grover and Juniper are still flirting shyly and Drew isn't backing off of Percy.-
Annabeth sat in her dorm, which she didn't need to share with anyone , staring at some trig equations with her pencil balanced on her left hand. She scrunched her eyebrows and looked out the window at the stars, thinking about Luke.
-Flashback to a couple hours ago-
"You. Me. My place?" Luke's low voice murmured as he crept up behind her and whispered into Annabeth's ears. He had found her staring at an Evergreen just outside the chemistry lab.
Annabeth, taken by surprise, turned around and drew in a breath, pushing back some curls that had fallen across her face.
"Hey, you." Her voice almost sounded flat.
"Come on, babe." Luke pleaded and kissed her nose. Annabeth crinkled her nose. "Gods you're so hot Annabeth." Luke's hands started moving their way down Annabeth's body.
"Stop!" Annabeth shrieked and laughed, pulling away. "I can't hang today. I promised to help my stepmom with dinner tonight."
"Babe. We haven't hung out in forever." Luke's voice got serious.
"Yeah well, I've been busy." Annabeth's raised her head to look across the courtyard of the school. "I'm going to go to. I'll see ya."
"Annie…" Luke's voice called, but Annabeth kept walking.
-Flashback ends-
What happened? Annabeth and Luke used to be so talkative, flirty and open with each other. Annabeth would feel butterflies in her stomach around him. Her head would've felt light and she wouldn't be able to stop smiling.
But now? No. Annabeth didn't want to be with him all the time. She didn't like cuddling in front of their friends, making out in the halls or anything else. Or maybe it was just when Luke did it.
When her thoughts brought her over to Percy, she went red. Annabeth felt horrible. She was dating Luke but she couldn't stop herself from thinking about Percy… who unfortunately had been avoiding her for weeks.
The other night, Thalia, Juniper and Katie came over for a sleepover/dorm party.
-Flash back-
The girls were munching on barbeque flavor chips and having a Rom-Com marathon. So far, Annabeth's favorite was The Ugly Truth. It was smart and witty and funny. Thalia preferred Stuck in Love, Juniper was the classic Notebook girl and Katie was in love with About Time. Currently, they were in the middle of The Lake House, when the guy was arguing with her father about something. Annabeth kinda zoned out.
Munch. Munch. "Hey Annabeth, pass me the pickles." Thalia managed to gargle with a mouthful of chips. Juniper gave her a look. She hated seeing half chewed food. Well, who doesn't.
"Guys, I'm so done with this. I can't watch anymore! My eyes burn." Katie groaned from the beanbags.
"Party pooper!" Thalia jumped up and tackled Katie. The two of them wrestled and then fell into a heap, giggling.
It was nice to see the happy Thalia back. Annabeth was so glad she stopped seeing her old stoner buddies.
"Okay. So what do you wanna do?" Annabeth asked, handing Thalia a jar of pickles. Thalia sure did have weird snacking habits. One time, she had a bowl of ice cream and French fries.
"Let's talk!" Juniper quipped. "How are you and Luke?" But she didn't ask that in the squeally girly way. She sounded more concerned.
"Um—"
"Why are you even dating him, Annabeth?" Thalia asked quietly from her spot next to Katie.
"What?" Annabeth asked.
"To be honest Annabeth, the three of us have noticed that… Luke is always trying to get it on with you…but you keep pushing him away." Katie voiced. "And you used to have the biggest crush on him ever. I mean, he is cute. But, yeah."
Annabeth bit her lip and flopped onto the floor.
"I know." She moaned.
"Grover told me that you and Percy have been kind of distant lately…" Juniper offered. "What's up with that?"
"Yeah. Travis told me you that too…" Katie trailed off.
"Annabeth, it's clear that you and Percy have a thing. And you're just leading Luke on." Thalia arched a thick eyebrow at Annabeth. "You need to choose. Percy is miserable and Luke is just going to get pushier. He's even tried to talk to me about this. But because I'm a good friend I just told him that you've been busy."
Annabeth smiled gratefully at Thalia. She opened her mouth, but no words came out. These confession girl talks were hard.
"I know… And I feel really bad." She looked away. "I really like Luke. But I'm actually not sure if that is an obligated feeling since I liked him since I was 8."
"Go on." Juniper smiled helpfully, putting an arm around Annabeth's shoulders.
"But I'm not sure he's the one for me now."
"Finally." Thalia rolled her eyes. "And my cousin is a great guy. He's just hurt. You need to fix this. Choose one of them, please. You'll be happier. And we'll all be happier..."
They talked more that night. Annabeth realized that she needed to do something about her boy trouble. Soon.
Boys suck.
-End of flashback-
Annabeth picked up her phone and scrolled through her contacts. She found Luke's name and dialed.
"H'lo?" A deep voice answered groggily.
"Luke."
"Annabeth. What's up?" She heard shuffling noises and then a thump.
"We need to talk."
"Um. Yeah. Okay. I'll see you tomorrow?"
"No… Now!" Annabeth said. She needed to get it done.
"Sorry. Now? I'm kinda busy."
"Luke. It's 3am." Annabeth heard some murmuring in the background. And then Luke's moans. Then they stopped abruptly.
"It's an ungodly hour Beth. I gotta go. We can talk tomorrow, a'ight?" And then the dial tone.
Okay guys! That's a new chapter.
