It had been three days since Zelda visited. She had set some knights she trusted to guard the village passage that the Moblins had come bursting through and had fended most off. The few that got through, Rusl dealt with himself.

Rusl climbed the ladder up to Link's hut when he heard movement inside. He stilled as he drew his sword quietly as the opened the door, only to have his blade clash with another. Although the blade was shaky, and it welder showed to be Link.

"I guess this makes us even," Link said as they pulled away.

"Link, you're up! How do you feel?" Rusl asked as he put his hand in Link's forehead to check for a fever.

"I'm fine Rusl. Really! I just feel a bit drained is all," he said. Rusl nodded

"Well, go lay down I'll cook you something tasty to eat," he said pushing Link to back to bed.
Link obeyed. A bit grudgingly, but did as told as Rusl made some stew for them with some food he brought from town. Everyone knew Link was not well and had given some extra food in hopes he'd get better soon.

Only Rusl knew why Link was under the weather. Or at least knew more than the town folk. He knew that Link didn't just catch a cold.
"Well, I'm glad you're up. I was getting really worried that you'd starve yourself if you slept much longer," Rusl stated, checking the stew once more before he put a lid on it.

"I wasn't out that long, was I?" Link asked, concern and worry written all across his face.

"Three days you been passed out. Princess Zelda put guards at the passage, so it's fairly well guarded. Not many get by and what do, I kill off" he said. Link nodded.

"Okay," he said, relieved that his absence had not caused any trouble, and that the town was safe while he was out. But a deep and dark part of him wondered why he cared, as he frowned as the thought confused slightly.

"Ruby for your thoughts?" Rusl gambled.

"Nah, it's not worth that much," Link said, jokingly.

"Well I don't know if I feel the same, seeing that you seem to have an interesting thought process" Rusl said. Link looked at him, confused.

"Let me elaborate. You got angry at me when I went to help you. That's when you said I would get killed when you could have been killed also. Get what I'm saying?"

"Yeah, I think so, but I'd rather get hurt then lose friend," he said shrugging.

"Well, if you died, I'd lose a son," he said, surprising Link

"I-I guess so," he said, looking away, ashamed by not thinking of the cons.

"So, eat up!" Rusl exclaimed, handing him a bowl of stew. The stew had chunks of goat meat, pumpkin, creamy flavor of the goat's milk as well as few other vegetables like carrots and pees.

"Thanks, it's good," Link said and ate the stew contently. Rusl packed up the rest in bottles and set them in the cupboard. "These will be good for about four or five days," Rusl estimated.

"Aright then, thanks!" Link said, feeling better and warm. He smiled and Rusl patted his back.

"So, shall we head out tomorrow?" he asked and Link blinked

"Why?"

"Well, the princess thinks you will change shape. I figure if so, better be out on the rode away from town so I can keep an eye on you," he said. "Also, we don't want everyone knowing, do we?"

Link nodded. "I guess so." He grabbed his clothes, put them on. He sighed. They both got ready in complete silence; packing what would be needed for a fairly long trip

"Do the others know we are leaving?" Link asked.

"Well they know when your better, I was going to take you on a trip. So yes. They do in a way."
Rusl said he was having a slightly hard time wrapping his mind around what the princess had told him, but Link looked fine to him same as before if a bit pale. The next morning Link saddled up Epona and put the supplies he would need in the saddle bags as Russell came up the path with his horse all saddled up and packed.

"You ready?" Rusl asked

"Yeah just finished packing" Link said mounting Epona as she tossed her head "Sorry girl, I know it's a bit heavy," he said, rubbing her neck getting her to nicker at him.

"Well once we get a fair distance we will be fine," Russell said and Link nodded to him. Together they both galloped through the woods to Hyrule field. They rode a bit longer till they got to the border of the woods surrounding Hyrule field out of the way of traveling groups.

"Let's set up camp," Rusl said and Link nodded

"Yeah, good idea," he said getting off he let Epona rest and taking off her saddle and the saddle bags, setting them to the side. He then, got out her feed and brushed her down as she ate. Rusl did the same to his horse and then went to get wood for a fire from the woods. Link sat listening to the world around him he had not really been out of the town so this big field was a new experience for him the lush grass and open land made him feel both exposed and amazed.

"What do you think girl, pretty big huh?" he said to Epona, who snorted and pushed her mussel into his chest making him chuckle. "Yes I think it would be a good place to run too," he said smiling as he stroked her neck she snorted and nudged him once more with her head. "I'll be fine, don't you worry girl." he said gently to the mare who snorted and swung her head a bit but did nothing more and ate her feed. Link gathered rocks to make a fire pit he swore he smelt something rubbing his nose he shrugged it off and set the rocks to make a pit for the fire.

Russell came back a few minutes later and noticed Link seemed pail and was rubbing at his joints slightly like they seemed stiff or sore. He had gathered enough wood for the night and set it down beside the pit Link had made and began to set it up for a fire."Link could you pass me the flint?" he asked

"Yeah, give me a sec," Link said
Digging through a bag and pulling it out and handing it to him as Rusl used a small dagger to strike it and continued to do so till a spark took and caught fire.

"We have enough wood to last us the night and partly tomorrow" Russell said

"Alright" Link said his body felt tight and sore like he was too big for his own skin

"You feeling alright Link?" Russell asked seeing him deep in thought

"I don't know, I feel tight," Link said and Russell nodded

"Might be that you're tired from our ride. Rest for now," he said getting the sleeping bags from the saddle and giving one to Link. He rolled his sleeping bag, crawled into it and fell asleep. Rusl smiled and followed soon after.
