Annabeth took a quick shower and then slipped into bed, smiling to herself, her fingers on her lips, thinking about Percy.
It felt really cold. Wait. Not. Now it's hot.
Crap.
Annabeth had a slight fever. Her head was pounding her she felt gross.
"Ugh…" She had a presentation that day for an AP class… Annabeth worked hard on it for the past month (though she had to stop the project for a while…) and she did NOT want to miss it.
She slowly dragged herself out of bed, not even bothering to change out of her sweatpants. She grabbed a hoodie and slipped on her uggs. She slugged to her bathroom and washed her face then grabbed her stuff and left. She was already late.
By the time she got to her first period class, AP Greek history, ¼ of it had already passed.
"Ms. Chase. Thank you for finally joining us." Mr. Ross said. Annabeth hated Mr. Ross. Mr. Ross hated Annabeth because Annabeth was better at history than him. Haha.
Annabeth slumped into her seat and rubbed her eyes. She turned to Percy, who sat with her everyday and smiled. (Yes, Percy is surprisingly good at history.) Their date happened almost a week ago and they went on another one just four days ago, some fro-yo place. They hugged and held hands but that was about it. Annabeth wasn't great at showing affection.
"Hey Wise Girl." Percy smiled handsomely. Annabeth wanted to die.
"Hey yourself." She whispered and smiled shyly.
"Why are you late today? You're never late. You okay?" He looked so concerned it was so cute.
"Super!" Gods that sounded so effing fake. Just about as fake as Drew's boobs. Ew.
•
That sounded to fake, Percy thought. Something's wrong.
He stared at Annabeth, biting the inside of his mouth. She looked pretty without makeup on… but she still looked tired. Maybe it's the lack of that eyelash thing? Or that blush or whatever she did.
Annabeth was slouched, unlike her usual straight-backed, perfect posture sit. Her hair was mused up and the light in her eyes were dim.
"Perseus? Are we not interesting enough for you?" Mr. Ross spat. "Should I move you and Ms. Chase apart so you won't stare at her in my class?"
Percy's face reddened like a tomato as the kids around him chuckled.
Annabeth was too tired to laugh.
"Since you've been daydreaming about Ms. Chase over here, why don't you help us with this question," Mr. Ross challenged, "which god or goddess is the god or goddess of time?"
"Um… there isn't a time goddess or god in Greek history, sir. But Kronos is the Lord of Time… he's a titan."
"Are you trying to sass me, Perseus Jackson? Do you think I don't know my Greek history?" Mr. Ross is such an idiot.
"Clearly." Annabeth, who sat next to Percy muttered. Then her eyes widened as if she couldn't believe she had just said that.
"MS. CHASE AND MR. JACKSON! OUT! NOW!" Then the bell rang. "FINE! DETENTION AFTER SCHOOL. MY OFFICE. NOW SCRAM YOU RUDE ADOLESCENT GOONS."

By the time Annabeth made it to her 3rd period class, Economics, she was ready to hit the sack. She had prepared the PowerPoint and made props which she grabbed from her locker just minutes before. Everything was going to be perfect.
She didn't even realize she was presenting until her teacher asked her a question.
"Annabeth, dear, are you alright?" Ms. Gray asked, furrowing her brow. "Dear, you look rather pale." The faces of her classmates were blank, except Juniper's. She looked extremely worried.
Annabeth gave a weak nod and turned back to her powerpoint. But then everything turned fuzzy and she felt something from the pit of her stomach rise. Then she bolted out the door and ran into the bathroom.
And then she threw up.
Just perfect.
"Annabeth? Are you okay?" Juniper popped in. "Oh my gods… Annabeth. You need to go to the nurse."
"Euhhgggh." Annabeth groaned. Then she threw up again. Nasty. "Noooo. I need to finish this presentation!"
"Honey, Ms. Gray isn't going to make you do it today. Please! Go home, you are really really sick."
Annabeth was too tired to fight back again. So she let Juniper clean her face and walk Annabeth to the nurse's office.
Just as they passed the gym, Percy spotted them.
"Hey guys!" Percy panted. He obviously just went on a run on the track. He was sort of sweaty. "O shiz. Annabeth… what happened?"
"I think she has a fever or maybe the stomach flu. She threw up twice already." Juniper's sweet voice offered. Annabeth was too weak to say anything. "I'm taking her to the nurse."
"Here, I'll take her." Percy said, taking Annabeth into his arms. "Tell her teacher."
Juniper nodded and left, throwing a glance back to watch Percy carefully walk Annabeth away.
•
"I'll take her home, Nurse Joyce." Annabeth heard Percy say. "She's in no state to walk alone up to her dorm."
"Yes. Thank you so much sweetie." The nurse said. "And Annabeth, drink lots of water and take these antibiotics. Get well soon."
Annabeth went blank as she let Percy carry her to his car. Then she felt his touch around her as he pulled the seatbelt across her chest. This was not the time to feel the tingles. Ugh. Annabeth wanted to finish that presentation… and she wanted to feel these feelings while not sick like this. Gross.
•
Turns out by the time Annabeth woke up, it was already almost 6 o'clock. Apparently, Percy had carried her out of his car, wiped her face and tucked her in.
There was just so much de ja vu to this.
"Hey. You're up." Percy said, walking into her room with medicine and a glass of water just as Annabeth was sitting up. "Here, swallow this."
He handed her the pill and sat on the edge of the bed. Annabeth looked at it and Percy laughed.
"Gods. You're so needy." He grinned. He signaled for her to take the pill and held the water to her lips.
"Why are we in this situation all over again?" Annabeth giggled.
Percy smiled. Even while feverish and light headed, Annabeth was so beautiful.
"Dang. Have you been here the whole time?" Annabeth asked suddenly.
"Yeah… I didn't want to leave you… ya know. Just in case right?" Percy said tentatively.
Annabeth leaned against Percy's shoulders. "Thank you Seaweed Brain."
And they stayed like that for a while.
•
Annabeth fell asleep again and Percy called Grover about homework. Grover and Thalia dropped by to check on Annabeth.
"How's my girl?" Thalia asked loudly, causing Annabeth to shift in her sleep.
"Shush! You'll wake her." Percy scolded.
Thalia and Grover shared knowing looks.
"What's that about?" Percy asked like a kid being left out of a game.
"Dude, you are like so whipped." Thalia smirked.
"When are you going to ask her to be your girlfriend?" Grover piped.
Percy scowled.
"Oh, come on! You think she doesn't talk about your dates to me? I know all about them!" Thalia grinned wickedly. "Including the part where you held hands and fed her the frozen yoghurt. How lame can you get?"
"WHAT?" Percy shouted, and then he quickly turned around to check if he had woken Annabeth. Her back was turned against them… but she was awake and listening.
"They're girls, bro. They tell each other stuff." Grover shrugged. "But seriously, it's so obvious you two have a major thing going on. You radiate them vibes."
"Ew." Thalia gagged. "JK. Okay look, I know Annabeth. And I know she really really really likes you."
Annabeth froze. She was going to kill Thalia.
"I really like her guys… I want to ask her out in a really special way…" Percy said. Annabeth felt the heat rise to her face, but not from her fever.
"You are as cheesy as a McDonalds happy meal." Thalia teased. "But that's cute."
Annabeth let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She really really liked Percy. And Percy really really liked her.
Hey guys! I know this was a really really short chapter and I haven't been on for a while now and I sincerely apologize! I've been super busy with school and stuff ya know?
Anyway, I really hope you liked this chapter! Feedback
