"They're girls, bro. They tell each other stuff." Grover shrugged. "But seriously, it's so obvious you two have a major thing going on. You radiate them vibes."

"Ew." Thalia gagged. "JK. Okay look, I know Annabeth. And I know she really really really likes you."

Annabeth froze. She was going to kill Thalia.

"I really like her guys… I want to ask her out in a really special way…" Percy said. Annabeth felt the heat rise to her face, but not from her fever.

"You are as cheesy as a McDonalds happy meal." Thalia teased. "But that's cute."

Annabeth let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She really really liked Percy. And Percy really really liked her.

Annabeth groaned as she sat up from bed. Her piercing headache had returned, though not as bad as it was a couple days ago. When she rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand, remembering the dream the night before.

-flashback to dream-

Annabeth was dressed in a white linen dress with gold jewelry adorning her arms and neck. Her thick blonde hair was in waves, cascading down to her waist, catching the light from the son. But in her hand was a dagger, and in front of her was her mother.

"You look beautiful my darling." Athena's voice rang.

"Thank you mother…" Annabeth and her mother's relationship was shaky and they rarely spoke. But when they did, it was usually like a war. Athena and Annabeth never agreed on anything.

"I'm sorry about your… friend's… incident." Athena said carefully. "But, I don't like that new friend of yours… the Jackson kid."

"Wait… what? What's wrong with you mom!" Annabeth squeaked.

"He's bad news." Athena said seriously.

"Are you stalking his past life or something?" Annabeth said incredulously. "Mom!"

"Do you know how many times he's been expelled? Kicked out of schools and fired from jobs? He's a troubled young man. No. Not even a man. He's just a boy."

"Mom! Do you know how stupid you sound right now? I've been expelled! I've been kicked out of schools! That doesn't mean I'm bad!" Annabeth said disgustedly. "I can't believe you. There is nothing wrong with Percy, mother."

"I don't like him."

Annabeth turned away. "I really like him, mother. He's a good… friend."

Athena went white then green. "No."

They stood facing away from each other, tension building up.

"Is it because of Poseidon?" Annabeth said quietly.

The silence grew heavy, the clouds went dark and swirled ahead.

"It is isn't it?" It came out almost as a whisper.

"Don't you dare bring his name out in my presence. My past is full of regret, Annabeth." Athena's voice grew low.

"Yeah! You abandoned dad and me! Running away and never contacting me until five years ago, missing the prime years of my life!" Annabeth clenched her fists. "What even happened between you and Poseidon?"

"Who told you?" Athena's eyes narrowed. "Not even your father knew."

-flashback ends-

Annabeth sighed and lifted the covers. The dream wasn't just a dream. It was more of a memory. A week ago, Athena had called Annabeth and the same conversation took place. Annabeth hated how Athena always disapproved of everything in her life.

"Way to be a mother. "

"Annabeth?" Thalia's voice sounded from the other side of the door, opening it. "You okay?"

"Hey Thals." Annabeth smiled, nodding. "Much better now… thanks for checking up on me these couple days"

"Great! So let's have a girls night out. We need to have fun." Thalia grinned, a sudden change in mood. She sounded so solemn earlier and now she was back to her playful mischievous self.

"What do you have in mind Thalia?" Annabeth smirked knowingly. "Go out to a book signing? A relaxing walk in the park?"

"You got me there girlie." Thalia rolled her eyes. "Brush your teeth and do your crap then come to my dorm. We're going out for a wild night."

Annabeth stood in front of Thalia's crazy mirrors, looking at the girl who stood before her.

Thalia had Annabeth in a short tight black leather skirt and a cropped angular tribal tank. Thalia lent her strappy gladiator heels, leather and gold bracelets. A simple crescent shaped golden necklace hung on her collarbones and the fake cartilage rings matched the silver and purple braided headband across her forehead. And Thalia, the makeup guru she was, made a brown smoky eye and paired it with nude lips and coral blush.

"We haven't done this since the week before you left." Annabeth said. "I've almost forgotten what it was like."

"OMG do you remember that one time when your drink got spiked? That was so scary! You were dancing and grinding on all these guys around you. It was crazy!"

"Oh gods… don't remind me. And then I puked on the DJ."

Thalia herself was in a white halter-top and a silver circle skirt that reflected the neon lights. Her black ankle boots and her calve tattoos gave it her own rocking style and her thunderbolt tattoo on her shoulder was complimented by silver bangles. Her grungy hair was up in a high ponytail and her eye makeup was blackened in the classic Thalia way.

"Damn we look hot." Annabeth giggled, looking at her best friend, linking arms.

"Percy is going to die." Thalia grinned evilly, looking at Annabeth's face. "I invited him, Jason and um Nico to come along."

"YOU DID WHAT?" Annabeth choked. "Oh my gods Thalia! I thought we were just going out as just us!"

"Girl, I ain't gunna let you dirty dance with anyone besides the guy you have a massive crush on." Thalia smirked, Annabeth blushed. "I can't believe Jason can come though actually! I'm so excited."

For most siblings, it was weird if you brought your brother along to go clubbing, but Thalia and Jason were more like friends than siblings most of the time.

"He and that Reyna girl in Roman High broke up and he just wants a fun night out with us. Plus he, Percy and Nico haven't seen each other in ages. Old family friend bonding time!" Thalia smiled.

"Yeah! And me, just awkwardly dangling there." Annabeth huffed. "You suck."

"Sucks to suck!" Thalia said, walking towards the door, dragging Annabeth with her. "Come on, we're gunna be late."

They were late. Percy and Nico were waiting in Percy's car and while waiting; they decided to go pick up Jason. The boys had their re-bonding moment and were close as ever. By the time the girls got into the car, Jason already knew about Annabeth and Percy's thing.

"Hello boys." Thalia drew out, making a big show of getting in the car.

"Thalia! I miss you." Jason laughed, grabbing his sister and pulling her into the car.

"Damn girl. You look SMOKING." Nico said. Thalia and Jason punched him. Poor, stupid Nico.

Nico was in a dark navy blue button up and black leather jacket with grey jeans and his usual combat boots. Jason was in a purple shirt and white jeans, his blonde hair up and gelled in a playful yet clean look. Percy, in Annabeth's opinion looked the best. He wore a deep green button up, folded up to his elbows and black jeans. He wore his black classic converse and his dark hair was just pushed out of his eyes.

Thalia climbed over into the shotgun seat, pushing Nico backwards. Nico just stared wistfully at her.

"ANNIE!" Jason said, "You look great! I missed you too!"

"Jason! How's my favorite Grace?" Annabeth smiled, shooting a look to Thalia who rolled her eyes. "I heard you're transferring to Half Blood High next week for the new semester."

"Can't wait! Roman High just isn't really my place." Jason said, pulling Annabeth into a tight hug.

Percy caught Annabeth's eye in the car mirror and they nodded at each other, then breaking out into shy smiles, with secrets hidden behind each other's lips.

Nico and Thalia disappeared onto the dance floor and Jason went to the bathroom just now, leaving Percy and Annabeth sitting in a booth, chatting up a storm for half an hour.

"I'm glad you're feeling better Wise girl." Percy smiled. "I was pretty worried about you. You look great."

"Thanks for taking care of me Percy… again." Annabeth gave a flirty little smile. "You look pretty darn good yourself. Who knew Seaweed brain here could clean up so well."

They looked at each other, feeling tingles run through their bodies. Then, before Annabeth knew it, she was reaching out her hand, and she pushed Percy's hair out of his eyes. He closed his eyes and his dark lashes rested on his chiseled cheekbones.

"OH MY FREAKING GODS NICO! I can't believe you!"

"Thalia! Wait! Stop! It wasn't what it looked like!"

"It doesn't? You were kissing her Nico! Her tongue was down your throat!"

Annabeth looked at Percy confused. What in the gods' names was going on?

"Thalia! Calm down." Percy said, grabbing Thalia's shaking arms. Hot angry tears were running down her face.

"I'm going to the bathroom." Thalia mumbled, pulling away. Annabeth ran after her.

"Man, what happened out there, Nico?" Percy asked. "What did you do to Thaila?"

Nico pressed his lips together. "uhh…"

"She said you were kissing with this girl?" Percy pressed. "Dude tell me. Come on, bro."

"Thalia and I….

"We've been secretly seeing each other." Thalia said through her tears.

"Wait what?" Annabeth widened her eyes. "You didn't tell me."

"I knowwww. I hated his guts at first but while you and Percy were always on your stupid date-not-dates we….I don't even know. I just. I really. I kind of—" Thalia sputtered, allowing Annabeth to hug her.

"It's okay, Thals. It's okay…"

"So then, when we were dancing and then I went to get a drink and when I turned around, this girl just came and was like grinding on him and stuff and then I couldn't moved and just—she just—she" Thalia sobbed. Annabeth held Thalia's tiny frame tightly until the heart wrenching sobs stopped. "Sorry I didn't tell you yet… I just couldn't find a good time to."

"I kind of assumed anyway… from the way he looks at you." Annabeth smiled. Thalia, tear stained and still beautiful laughed. "And from what you just told me, Nico didn't kiss the girl. She kissed him! And you guys are a thing. He likes you… his eyes get so wistful and soft when he sees you."

Thalia and Annabeth finally made it back to the boys, and Nico grabbed Thalia's black manicured hands.

"I'm sorry babe." Nico said quietly. "I didn't kiss her! And I stopped her. I promise. I like you and only you. No other girl out here is for me…"

"Ew. You're like a romcom character. Cheesy and lame.." Thalia smiled softly with her light frown. Then she grabbed Nico by the collar, "I hate you." And she kissed him. The kiss got pretty steamy and Jason looked like he was going to be sick.

"Let's leave these two alone. Join me?" Annabeth said, holding out a hand to Percy, then the two disappeared. Jason didn't want to stay and watch his sister and friend make out, so he got up too. He was going to follow Percy and Annabeth but he didn't feel like third wheeling that night… so he found the back door and left.

"So… are you surprised about Nico and Thalia?" Annabeth grinned up at Percy.

"Honestly? No. Once after I sent you home after watching the movie, I heard… disturbing noises from his room. And I thought I recognized the voice. So I plugged in my earphones and cried myself to sleep in fear." Percy grinned back.

Annabeth laughed. "That's gross."

Then someone bumped into Annabeth, hard, pushing her into Percy's arms fast. He grabbed he by the waist and held her up tightly against his chest. Annabeth could feel Percy's heart beat and froze there, her arms circled around Percy's strong, broad shoulders.

Slowly, she lifted up her head to look at Percy.

"Oops." She said. She could feel Percy's warm breath beat down on her face and they stood there, in the middle of the dance floor, the heavy bass vibrating around them, amongst a crowd of sweaty dancers. Percy's stomach muscles tightened and his hand traced Annabeth's face, pulling her chin up softly, looking deeper into her eyes, green mixing with grey.

"Nothing happened?" Thalia screeched. "Not even a kiss? Annabeth!"

Annabeth shrugged. "Well, clubbing isn't my style anymore you know?"

"Gods, you're such a nerd." Thalia drawled.

"Percy's a gentleman. He doesn't party hard like you." Annabeth smiled, remembering Percy's hands on her waist, the way he held her tightly, looking into her eyes with such intensity.

Plus, the other night when he sent her home from school, Percy said he was going to ask her out sometime… but in a special way…

The next week after school on a Tuesday, Nico and Thalia went to pick up Jason and help him pack and unpack for his move while Percy and Annabeth hung out.

"So Jason told me the other day that when he left the club and walked home, he found these two kids our age. This girl called Piper and a dude called Leo. Apparently, they're joining us at Half Blood High too." Percy said.

"Wow… everyone's coming over here now." Annabeth commenting. "And yeah Thalia told me this too. And she said that Jason and this Piper chick are always talking on the phone and stuff."

"He's always talking about her!" Percy laughed. "I think he's fallen for her instantly. Just like that!"

"And you would know." Annabeth smirked and bumped him.

"Yeah, I would." Percy smiled down at Annabeth. She blushed hard. It was obvious to everyone that Percy and Annabeth were practically officially an item, but they never confirmed it. Even Drew started backing off.

Annabeth was in an orange silk top and black leggings tucked into brown high boots. Percy was in an orange V-neck and worn blue jeans. The orange was from the pep-rally for the lacrosse team. Football season was over and Percy had swimming tryouts coming in a couple weeks.

"I heard there's a new girl being put in Silena's dorm house. Maybe it's her." Annabeth said. "I wonder if she's smart."

"That's an important quality." Percy chuckled. "Girls who are complete airheads are a total turn off."

Annabeth tsk-ed at him as they walked towards the Shake Shack. Just then, a car pulled up next to them and the driver honked and lowered the window.

"PERSEUS JACKSON!" A girl's voice called from the car. Annabeth turned as saw a girl with fiery red hair stick her head out the car. "And Annabeth Chase! How are ya'll?"

"Hey Red!" Percy grinned, walking towards the car. Rachel leapt out and pulled him into a hug.

"Haven't seen you in months. Missed you, darling! How's the G-Man?" Annabeth stood awkwardly as Rachel and Percy talked about Grover. "How're you holding up Chase?"

"Um. Fine I guess." Annabeth said, fidgeting, feeling super self-conscious. Rachel was in a white tank top and skin tight army pants. She looked absolutely adorable in her black beanie and paint stained arm.

Why was Rachel always…talking to Percy? Annabeth wanted to scream inside. Percy looked so happy when he was talking to her… It made Annabeth want to cry seeing how close Rachel and Percy were. Rachel obviously likes Percy and Percy—

"Well I gotta scoot. Daddy's making me meet these clients. Catch you later babe." Rachel kissed Percy on the cheek and Annabeth turned away fast.

After Rachel sped off and Percy and Annabeth got drinks from the Shake Shack, Annabeth claimed she wasn't feeling good and told Percy she was going to leave. Percy, worried about her well being, walked her home. Annabeth was quiet the whole way back.
