Chapter One

Sam stood in the river, slowly moving the waters around her, playing with some of the children from her village. She was trying to forget a dream she had had the night before of a group of warriors coming to the village. But when her father called her name and she turned around to see the warriors from her dreams, she froze. All the water she had been moving fell back into the river.

"These warriors are from Asgard," Her father said. "They wish for one of us to go with them to speak of the coming battle. Would you go so I can stay and prepare our warriors?"

"Certainly, father," Sam said, walking out of the water. "Will I need to gather some of my things?"

"No," one of the visiting warriors said. "If you are in Asgard for more than a day, you will be provided with clean clothes and food."

"Alright. I shall follow you."

The Asgard warriors took Sam back to Asgard and led her to Odin.

"Hello," Sam said. "I am Sam. The dreamer and force-mover of my realm. My father sent me to discuss the battle with you."

"Yes," Odin said. "Welcome. I thought it may be wise to form alliances before the Dark Elves gather enough strength to attack. There will be talk of it at dinner tonight. For now, Fandral will lead you to the chambers that have been prepared for your stay in Asgard. I shall send someone for you when it is time for dinner."

"Thank you, sir."

Sam followed Fandral to the chambers Odin had mentioned.

Loki paced in his cell, glancing at the image of his mother he had made.

"She's here," he said. "In Asgard. I can FEEL it."

"She well may be. But you know that no one will believe it unless the mark appears on her wrist."

"And even then, they probably won't let her near me. Even if after it appears she NEEDS to be with me for her own good. And the mark won't appear if she doesn't see me. And I do not see that happening."

"Do not lose faith, Loki. Anything is possible."

Loki sighed and ran his hand through the image, making it vanish.

"I need to see her…"
