Jane turned back to her and gently held Maura's face in her hands until those hazel eyes finally swung her way "I would rather die than leave you here and let you marry that animal."

The brunette's words were so sincere they actually physically hurt her and made her heart ache. She had no words but instead gave Jane a small nod and was once more taken by the hand and led away from her married fate.

Jane felt like a character from one of those video games her brother Frankie played incessantly; sneaking down hallways, peering around corners and signalling to Maura, all she needed was a gun…and a penis, it had always bugged her watching play that there were no kickass women in them. She momentarily lost herself in her thoughts and rounded a corner with a bit too much vigour only to halt immediately and hastily back straight back into an unsuspecting Maura who let out a loud 'oof' as the air was knocked out of her by Jane's elbow. Without thinking Jane slapped her hand across Maura's mouth and backed her into the nearest wall. She could see the immediate fury flare up in those hazel eyes but she had no time to consider Maura's feelings; Garrett was making his way down the corridor with a fistful of cash and a murderous look on his face.

Maura glared at the brunette in anger as she proceeded to wind her, gag her and pin her up against the wall in the space of thirty seconds without so much as an explanation or apology. She considered biting Jane's hand to make her let go and demand a justification for her incredibly odd and rude behaviour when she looked into those chocolate eyes; she was scared, concerned, Maura couldn't find an adequate adjective in her vocabulary for that look, all she knew was that Jane must have seen something that worried her and Maura was dreading finding out what that was.

Jane had a split second in which to make her decision knowing full well that the wrong one could get herself, or worse Maura, into a lot of trouble…or worse. She could hear his footsteps getting closer and closer and began to panic. Just as she was giving up hope she clutched at the straws in her mind and did the only thing that she could think of in that moment. She covered Maura's body with her own, squashing the two of them impossibly close together and staring her directly in the face, as the taller of the two Jane prayed that as he rounded the corner he wouldn't see anything of Maura.

Maura felt all of the air from her lungs escape for the second time in less than a minute and opened her mouth to automatically scold Jane but she saw the fear grow in her eyes and heard the unmistakable sound of footsteps approaching. Maura closed her eyes and her mind began to race as to whose the footsteps were and dread began to take hold of her but before she could fully begin ti comprehend the situation Jane did something that stunned Maura so much that all thoughts flew out of her mind; she kissed her. Pinned up against the wall with Jane's body on top of her, holding her arms down by her sides Maura was helpless against this sudden attack but as the brunette's soft lips brushed against hers once more suddenly escaping from Jane's grip was the last thing on Maura's mind.

Jane closed her eyes to try and desperately block out the sound of his footsteps, trying to deny what was happening in that moment but to her surprise when she did in fact close her eyes that all her worry and tension fell off her Garrett slid to the back of her mind. She's kissing me back. It was a confirmation she needed as she tried to wrap her head around what was happening. She's kissing me back. The shorter woman wasn't fighting her off or struggling in fact she was kissing her with what felt like growing passion. Jane felt butterflies in her stomach and couldn't help but let out a small giggle that ghosted across Maura's lips; it was just all too absurd, here she was rescuing a woman she initially hated from the man she informed of her location only to now pin her up against a wall and kiss her…and now, She's kissing me back. She was rudely jolted out of her astonishment and pleasure when she heard the footsteps falter, her eyes flew open only to see that Maura's were still thankfully shut, she was painfully aware of his presence behind her and she lifted her hands to cup Maura's beautiful face before forcing her eyes shut again and kissing her passionately. If this is the only chance I get to do this then I want her to really feel this.

Maura felt like she was on some sort of drug, in the back of her mind she was aware of the inherent danger and yet could not clarify her mind enough to focus on it. Jane's lips were intoxicating, sweet yet hot and when the brunette brought her hands up to cup her face Maura thought her heart was going to melt; it wasn't possessive like when Garrett had done that same action in the past it was caring, protective and felt wonderful. Maura felt a hesitation in the kiss and went to open her eyes only forget that action moments later when suddenly Jane kissed her with such passion that her knees felt like they were about to give way. Other than the obvious effect the brunette was having on her; her skin erupting in goosebumps and hair follicles tingling amongst other things, she was very aware that Jane was almost trying to tell her something silently. Never before had Maura been kissed like that and it was like a silent understanding between the two of them that something important had happened and they needed to acknowledge it, and she did.

Feeling Maura relax in her embrace made Jane's heart flutter in the most wonderful way, she felt proective and yet protected at the same time and when Maura opened her lips slightly during the kiss Jane felt as if her heart could explode. It was such a tender amazing moment that Jane could barely believe was happening to her, never before had she been with someone who made her feel so special like Maura did in her arms and she wished so much that it never had to end. The brunette almost lost herself in the deep kiss when she was rudely jolted back to reality but a gruff voice.

"Oi, you!"

Her heart sank to the bottom of her stomach and she felt Maura stiffen in her arms, both their eyes flew open and she saw the terror in her eyes. She held onto her tightly and gave her one last soft kiss on those tender lips before pulling back a millimetre and whispering "Run."

Maura heard that word echo around her like there was nothing else in the world and it struck fear into her heart. She felt Jane begin to lose her grip and Maura grasped hold of Jane and pulled at her, silently begging her not to do this but Jane looked at with regret in her tear filled eyes and she turned away from her to face the voice.

"Who the hell are you?" Garrett turned to the rough voice that had barked at him only to face an ugly brute who clearly had no place at his wedding.

Jane turned to face her fate only to see that Garrett had his back to them, not quite coming around the corner just yet. She heard the deep voice again this time she couldn't catch the words but she recognised the accent now; it was Cav's flunky. Something, someone was smiling down at them and Jane felt a new vitality flood her soul, she turned back to Maura who was staring at her with a perplexed but rosy disposition and Jane beamed at her.

Without another word Jane slid her hand into Maura's and let her silently away once again. Maura was thoroughly confused and yet blissfully did not care one iota what was going on, she trusted Jane implicitly and followed her down countless corridors and twists and turns into final they burst through double doors.

Jane slammed through the double doors and skidded to a halt mouth wide open as dozens of eyes swung to their direction and stared in wonder at the tall brunette and her companion wearing lingerie and a silk robe. Jane couldn't will her legs to move anymore and she felt Maura clutch her hand tightly in fear. The brunette was out of ideas until one voice piped up out of the silence.

"Hey, who's this? She's hot!"

Maura had no idea who the lanky tanned guy was, she only knew that the wide toothy grin and leering eyes he was giving her made her squirm uncomfortably however she smiled in shock as Jane let out a loud hearty laugh and turned to her with an excited smile.

"This is Giovanni. Giovanni, this is Mau-" she stopped herself "Marie."

Giovanni wiped his dessert laden hand on his apron before holding it out in front of himself "Mm I would like to lick her face."

Maura stared wide eyed at Giovanni who apparently had no idea what he had just said out loud, or if he did had some very strange fetishes. The brunette stood next to her laughed loudly again and shook her head.

"Giovanni put it back in its cage will ya?" Jane caught the bewildered look on Maura's face and couldn't help but chuckle as she pulled her robe tighter around her body in an attempt to stop him from staring. "You got the keys to that van outside?"

Giovanni barely glanced away from the shorter woman as he grunted at Jane. He threw her the van keys and watched as they scampered toward the exit of the kitchen. "Hey wait a minute! What about dessert Janie?!"

Jane span round with a wide grin "Who cares!" They raced outside and jumped into the catering van, Jane turned the keys in the ignition and beamed at Maura. "Where to my lady?"

Maura felt an odd stirring at Jane's choice of words and smiled back at her "Far far away."

"Your wish is my command." Jane slammed her foot down on the accelerator and sped away, screeching down the gigantic driveway that led away from the country club and began driving to the only place she had ever felt safe; her Ma's.

I will finish this. I will. Soon, I swear. It's been a long time since I updated and I could apologise profusely and give you all the reasons why, but this isn't a blog for my sob stories, just a place for my stories, which need endings and it is coming I promise.
