It's short.

In Time

Kagome was absolutely speechless.

For some reason, she was actually calm and felt a wonderful sense of peace. But she knew she should probably be scared out of her wits.

She was weightless. She was in nothing. She floated, as if suspended on strings in the hands of an expert puppeteer. Scattered in the inky darkness were trillions of far off stars making Kagome the center of her own personal galaxy. She gazed in wonder at the beauty of the unrealistic scene around her.

"If this was really outer space though, I'd be dead." The miko jerked in surprise. "Hang on... I didn't say that out loud... Or that! ... Or that either!" She raised a hand to her mouth. "No, my mouth is definitely closed. So how can I hear aloud what I'm thinking? ... This is too weird." Still feeling calm, but very befuddled, Kagome scanned her surroundings.

A glowing pink rope far off in the distance caught her attention. Kagome stared at it for a moment, overcome with a strange feeling. Like an invisible force was pulling her to it. There arose within her an uncontrollable urge to touch the rosy tendril. Unconsciously, she leaned forward, and began to float towards the rope of light. She only noticed she was moving forward when the stars around her seemed to elongate into thin bars of light. Turning her eyes back to the pink rope, she noticed it was getting much larger.

She opened her mouth in a silent gasp when she realized that the glowing pink rope was actually a huge powerful river. The pinkish glow of the water began to brighten slightly as the stunned miko was pulled ever closer. The river continued to grow in size rapidly as the stars zipped past her.

Kagome gazed up and down the river. It appeared suspended, like a celestial giant had snatched a planet right out from under the water, and the river just continued to flow in space. It was extremely deep and very wide, and filled her with a sense of self-awareness and calm she had never experienced before.

"It looks like somebody filled the Grand Canyon with the ocean…" She thought in awe.

Just when she would surely collide with the wall of pink water, her body came to a slow stop. She was so close she could feel the warmth and dampness of the river on her face. Some of the spray from the water got on her tongue as she gaped at the sight and Kagome thought she tasted a hint of sweetness. Curiosity consuming her, she reached out her hand and gingerly touched the side of the river with her index finger.

Its color quickly faded into a light blue and it picked up speed, rushing and churning faster and faster. Kagome felt like she was suddenly charged with electricity. Her powers swelled in her, growing and receding, flowing swiftly through her like the furious glowing blue river she touched.

She heard the whispering echo of her thoughts surround her. "Amazing..."

It's short 'cause I said so.
