Chapter Five
Disclaimer: I don't own CCS, all credits goes to the Clamp group except for my lovely original characters and plot.
I walked into the house with a sheepish look as my mother had smothered me with hugs as soon as I stepped onto the driveway. I knew she was extremely worried for me and partially angry at whoever had caused the roof collapsing, which was me and Mitsuo…
Anyway I grabbed a pudding and a spoon from the kitchen and a cup of tea for Suppi. My father had raised an eyebrow but said nothing as I walked up the stairs. I set the food and drink down and shut the door. Kero shot out of my pockets and attacked the pudding. As dignified as ever, Suppi calmly flew out and sat next to the cup of tea, drinking it slowly and appreciatively. I changed into a comfty pair of shorts and a t-shirt and went downstairs into the kitchen. My mother and father were both sitting at the breakfast table, discussing something in whispers.
"What are you guys talking about?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. My mother jumped while my father grinned at me.
"I'm going to China in a couple of weeks and I was considering bringing you and your mother with me," he replied. I gaped. China? That was new.
"Fumiko said she was going to be busy the week we're going, so she's not coming," my mother added. Score! A vacation without monster sister hanging over my shoulder! I'm definitely going on this trip! Oh wait a second...
"What about school?" I questioned. My mother waved a hand.
"I'll tell them that it's a mandatory trip for our family," she said. Hands down, my mom is awesome.
"When do we leave?" I said, grinning with excitement. I loved going on trips to new countries. I've been to the States, England, and now China!
"In a couple of weeks," my father answered before going to call someone. My mother also left to go work on a new book she was writing. As well as being co-owner of the company we ran, she had wrote books as a hobby. I grabbed a water bottle and ran back up to my room. Kero and Suppi both looked up at me when I came in, Kero wilting in disappointment at my lack of sweets.
"What were you talking about with your parents?" Suppi inquired, ignoring Kero's complaints.
"We're going to China in a couple of weeks," I answered, dropping into my chair and turning to my desk, powering on my laptop.
"China! That's great!" Kero exclaimed. "The Li family lives there!"
"Li?"
"Sakura's family, also the descendants of Clow, the creator of the cards!"
"Interesting..." I typed in Li China into the search bar. Apparently they owned a great deals of chains and stores. Very rich but not much information about the family. Well it seems like this trip will be interesting...to say the least.
I leaned on my fist and stared out the window, bored. The plane had been awesome, but boring as I found no one to talk to. Not to mention my dad was sleeping on the plane. There's a reason why I wear headphones to sleep. Now my dad was busy talking on the phone to someone in Mandarin and my mom was sound asleep. I found it slightly funny how our limo was driving through the streets of Hong Kong, but no one seemed suprised.
We arrived at our hotel and an employee came out to help unload the luggage with the promise of delivering them to our rooms.
"Katsu here you go," my dad said, slipping a pouch of yuan into my hand. I nodded gratefully and disappeared into the crowd. I called a cab and told the driver to drive to the Li Mansion. The drive there was silent and I was glad to step out of the suffocating air of cigars and smoke. I thanked the driver and paid him, and turned to the entrance. My jaw dropped. In front of me was the largest mansion I'd ever seen. I gulped, suddenly nervous. This...was not going to be easy.
