Sougo's POV:
It all happened so fast. He charged towards her but she didn't move. Blood was dripping down from her stomache as she hugged him.
His eyes widened, hands trembling, and his breath was heavy. And I swear to whoever was above, she wore the brightest smile I had ever seen.
There was a stabbing pain in my chest and I was also trembling. I could see the moonlight shine on her through the cracks on the ceiling.

Shinpachi's POV:
I couldn't shout because my throat was so dry and my mouth was shaking. Kagura-chan...

Gin's POV:
Fate is such a sadist... This is just so sad. Because I failed to protect my friends... Then and now hasn't changed, I still couldn't protect the things that I love.
I watch as they were taken from me one by one...
I tried to run and kill that bastard but I felt a strong grip. I turned to see Okita with his head bowed and grasping so desperately on my kimono.
"Don't try to stop me!" I shouted.

"I'm begging you boss... Don't interfere..."

"Bullshit! If you don't let go, I'll cut you down!"

"I'm begging you... If you don't let them settle this... It will never end! All of this would've been for nothing! That's why... That's why I'm begging you boss...There will never be another chance."

I'm a man, and seeing him like that... His eyes were full of pain. The eyes of a man who had to sacrifice everything that was important to him. Not his usual murderer eyes.
He kneeled down and sobbed.

"I'm begging you boss please..." I glared at Takasugi who had a deadpanned expression.

"Hey, tell me, what kind of sick and twisted reasoning to do you have to ruin everything that's important to me?"

"I could ask you the same thing. That night when you let them take sensei away, do you even know how much it hurt? Do you know how, up until now, it hurts so much?"

"Then take my life if it pleases you. Don't bring other people into this. But if you take away all of our lives tonight, would that bring sensei back? You think you were the only one who was hurt? Do you know how much I wanted to kill myself that night for being so weak?!"

"Then why didn't you?!"

"If I did that, everything that sensei did to protect us would've been for nothing. The ones who were supposed to be killed was not him, but all of us. We were a bigger threat to the bakufu than he was. But sensei told me to protect everyone, including you!"

"I know that... but the beast inside me wouldn't stop. I want to kill those who killed sensei. It was your choice to get involved. You butted in on your own."

"Then tell me, if I don't stop you from hurting everyone and even yourself, then who will? I'm doing all of this to protect you because that's what I promised him. If taking my life right now would erase your pain, I won't even try to resist. But for the sake of these young ones, I'd do anything."
