The following day, I awoke to Cat's yellow eyes glaring at me from above. His entity hovered a few inches over me.

"Get out of here, you stupid Cat!" I whacked him with my arm and he fell down to the ground, onto his feet.

"Percy Jackson...I must speak with you," he hissed.

I sat up and stared at him. "What? Did you come to warn me against the potato farm again? Suck it up, Buttercup. I love potatoes and you can't do anything about it."

Cat bowed his head in humility. "No, Percy. I came for two reasons. First, to apologize."

"Apologize? You stupid cat!" I threw my pillow at him and he fell over onto his back.

Wait, what? Cat's never fall on their backs!

Cat gasped for air and appeared to be...well...dying.

I hopped down to his side and checked his pulse. It was slowing.

"Cat...I'm so sorry, I-"

"Come…closer…" he interrupted with a cough.

I leaned in to listen.

"I have to warn you, yes...but…" he coughed violently a hairball flew onto my face.

"EEEWWWWWWWW!" I screamed at him.

"Percy...I once swore myself to Nico, but now, he's...well, he's changed. He's become terrifying and unpredictable. Last night I returned to him and told him of my encounter with you and your girlfriend and that fat man who likes grapes. He was so angry about the Potato Farm and that you were planning to persist, that he…"

Cat coughed some more and his voice croaked. I single tear trickled down my cheek. What had I done?

Wait a second, how did my pillow do that to him? I decided to investigate.

I reached to grab the pillow and suddenly realized that it was heavy. I reached into the Snorlax pillowcase and felt something stony and rough. I pulled out the object.

"A yellow brick? I didn't put a brick in here, I swear!"

Cat was annoyed that my priority had become the pillowcase mystery while he was on his deathbed...well, next to it, anyway.

He hissed. "Percy! This is important."
"Sorry, ya dumb cat. I still hate you, by the way."

An awkward silence.

"I know."

More awkward silence.

"Aaaaaannnyyywayyy…" I prompted.

Cat finally continued. "Nico is so angry that he plans on expelling the entire planet of potatoes. He will find and destroy every last potato, no matter the cost. And he's going to start with your farm. Once he finds it, he will set it to fire."

I waited for more bad news, but Cat was silent. "Is that really it?"

"Percy. You can stop him. No...you have to stop him. If you don't, then you will never eat another potato."

And, suddenly, the realization hit me like a train. No...more potatoes? No more blue potatoes?

"Can you believe my luck? First, Nico rescues me from a rabid monkey that tried to devour me. I become his servant and he tries to kill me when you decide to go forward with the potato farm. I leave to warn you, and you throw a brick at me, and I'm going to die…"

I shushed him. "This is bad! No more potatoes...This is bad, this is really, really, REALLY bad, Cat!"

But he was gone. Cat lay limp on my carpet, his eyes rolled back into his head.

Really, where did that brick come from?
