Chapter IX
Say Something, I'm Giving Up On You
By: Elsa Alicorn
Sun was slowly fading away in the distant mountains. Back in the castle, Elsa was still freaking out. That's pretty much what she did all day. And that she can't see her sister made her situation even worse. Her whole room was covered in ice. She tried to control it, but it was no use. She could control her powers with love. True love. She didn't have that. Anna is in bed, trying to survive. Where else she could get love? There was practically nobody to stay by her side in moments like these. Aside from Olaf and maybe Kristoff, of course.
Elsa sighed as she sat on her bed. She buried her head in her hands. Elsa was out of her mind. Her brain was frozen. It was like she was stuck in time. And she hated it. She didn't know what should she fell. It was all confusing. She had to admit it, past few days were a complete mess. And it all started with one person.
"Hans..." she mumbled angrily under her breath. She always wondered, did that guy bring bad luck wherever he went. I mean, he just layed on bed for a past few days, doing nothing, and yet he caused so much trouble. Too much, if you asked Elsa. Her plan was to get rid of him, but it failed after Gerda said that he needs much time to recover.
Once again, Elsa sighed heavily as she stood up from her bed. She couldn't take it anymore. She waited for hours to get news about her sister's condition, and yet, she got nothing.
Elsa started to walk in circles, trying to calm herself down. But it didn't help, of course. Suddenly, one of the guards ran up in the room. He bowed quickly before saying, "Your Majesty, the doctor said that you have to come in the Princess Anna's room. Immediately." Elsa didn't wait for a second. She ran up to the room where Anna was. Elsa gasped in horror when she entered. Her heart was breaking in pieces when she saw her little sister who was full of bandages. Elsa turned to Doctor, who was standing right next to her.
"H-how is she?" Her voice cracked. She tried her best to not cry. The Doctor sighed as he stood up.
"She is fine. It'll need some time for wounds to heal, but she'll be all right. She will wake up in a few days. Maybe even tomorrow." Doctor packed his things and he bowed before exiting the room. Elsa sighed once again. She looked up at her sister. Tears welled up in her eyes.
"I'm so sorry Anna. It's all my fault." Elsa lightly hugged her sister as tears streamed down her cheek. Anna looked so peaceful, but Elsa could see the pain on her young face. And it broke her.
Suddenly, the doors opened again and Kai came inside.
"My queen!" he said, before bowing deeply. Elsa wiped tears away. She stood up and she walked up to Kai.
"Yes, Kai?" Even without trying, she could see the excitement in his eyes. He stood there in silent before answering her.
"It's about Hans. He- he is awake." Elsa gasped and her eyes widened.
"B-but Gerda said that he won't be up for a week or two. How is that possible?" Kai shuddered.
"Your Majesty, we don't know either." Elsa sighed again as she nodded.
"All right. Let's go." They both exited the room. Elsa took a last look at Anna before leaving. Kai and Elsa walked in silence. Not that Elsa minded. She got little time to think about some things, such as what should she do when she see him.
When they came in front of the room where Hans was, Elsa stopped. She turned to Kai.
"I don't know if I'm ready for this. What if I lose temper? Or what if he does something?" Kai gave her a weak smile.
"I understand that you're not happy to see him, but you need to face it now." Elsa nodded in silence. She knew he was right. She took a big breath before entering the room. Kai followed her behind. When they entered, Elsa saw Gerda, who was standing next to the doors. Also, Elsa could feel her heart beating faster. Garda bowed with a crooked smile on her face. Suddenly, Elsa heard a groan in the corner of the room. Her heart stopped. She bit her lip as she slowly turned her head to Hans.
Hans slowly woke up with painful... pain in his head... and everywhere else. He groaned as he rubbed his tired eyes. When he opened his eyes, everything was blurry to him.
'What is this? Some big woman and platinum blonde next to her. Platinum blonde?' Even thought he was in coma for days, he can't easily forget that platinum blonde hair. He only knew one person with platinum blonde hair. And then, it him him. He blinked a few more times, praying that he saw wrong. But it was no use. It was truly her. He started to back away, until he fell out of bed.
"Don't move. You'll only make it worse." Hans looked up, surprised to hear that.
"W-what?" Question left his mouth before he could stop it. Elsa ignored that. Gerda helped him to get up while Elsa stood where she was, completely frozen in place.
When Gerda put Hans on the bed, he looked up to Elsa. Elsa looked back, trying to read him. She couldn't tell was it pain, anger, confusion or something else in his eyes. It was hard to read him. Elsa looked away.
"Why you helped me?" The question caught her off guard. She turned her attention to Hans. Elsa opened her mouth to reply, but she stopped when she couldn't find any practical reason for helping him. She just felt pity. Stupid pity. She looked up at him for the last time (in that day). And then, She left without any word.
