Last time on Project Freelancer watches Red vs. Blue

"NO! Why the hell should I trust you? For all I know you could have done all this on purpose." Kale starts to back up. "I can prove it Carolina I can I just need more time..." He says pleadingly to her.

"No I want answers and I want them now." She says with the darkest of glints in her eyes.

Now the continuation

Training room deck

Eyes of every Freelancer in the room was on Kale. A trickle of sweat went down his forehead. Multitudes of thoughts raced through his head at an alarming rate and each wasn't easing his rising nervousness in the slightest. Carolina throwing him out the airlock, them just killing him on the spot, the thought of making a break for it came to mind.

"Carolina I swear I can only answer as much as I can. There are things in play right now that are very delicate." No answer came from Carolina except that same cold stare, further rising Kale's anxiety and desperation.

She knew that he was telling the truth. The way he talked to the Director as if one wrong word would break him like glass. She has seen his nervousness when he ate. How careful he was being...he was either a very good actor or he was telling the truth. Things were delicate she believed that.

Then it was the fear showing in his eyes. It wasn't the fear of being killed...no she had seen that before. It wasn't the fear of being caught either...no it was the fear of not being able to prove yourself. She had those eyes a few times on her own figure. Hours ago she had been fully willing and ready to send him hurtling into space along with those GOD DAMN DVDs! Carolina had even tested it, hearing that was the best way to remove any unneeded items like useless salvage...or useless staff members.

But ever since her talk with Kale in the infirmary; a thought had been circling in her mind relentlessly. Why did he look so... calm? A boy lands with his room on a military spaceship and he doesn't look intimidated or as scared as he should be. Instead, he looked confused and curious, intrigued by his new surroundings.

Then the DVDs dropped on them like a ton of bricks.

Her team, her entire team was a wreck. Wash was locked in his room, South was in mental disarray, and she didn't even know what kind of effect it had on her other team mates. Most of the experience - though she would never admit it - hurt her. It had made her worried sick about her team...her friends. It had been awhile since she had been afraid but the mere thought of ever losing any of them terrified her. That thought never seemed to appear on Kale's.

Kale was not her friend and certainly did not belong here. He was an outlet for all Carolina's pent-up stress and frustration. But this...this wasn't the future, this was here and now. With the ship in dissaray it didn't take long for her thoughts to take action and pin Kale. People that did this to her friends didn't usually live this long and Kale has somehow broken that record several times over by now. "Why are you here Kale?"

He blinks and swallows audibly. "To fix things Carolina...please you have to believe me." He pleads. Her hand slightly moves to her sidearm, quietly waiting for him to say something else, anything else. North and South notice the movement to her gun and slowly move towards her.

"The videos." Carolina blurts out abruptly. The eyes of Washington and South dart to her. "If what you're saying is true than if we just get through them you can leave correct?" Kale stared at her for a moment. Honestly he hadn't thought about what happened if he was done and it didn't bring him home.

That thought was so jarring all with the tension around them he just said. "Yes." Carolina slowly moved her hand away from the gun. That was immensely satisfying to Kale but North looked at her with a bit more caution.

Carolina moved her head to the white soldier. "Wyoming go find York, Maine and C.T we're doing these now." The British soldier took a moment to respond. "Do you want the Director as well?" Carolina thought on that for a moment. "We start in 10 minutes if he isn't here write a report to him."

Wyoming nods and quickly heads out muttering something quietly. She turns around to the rest of them. "What are you people waiting for? An invitation? Get a chair, sit down and get comfy." Washington gives a start before hesitantly moving towards the chairs. The others follow soon after, all just as wary. Satisfied with the seating arrangements, Wyoming bellows out, "F.I.L.S.S! Deactivate all other training room programs and re route the power to video display."

As Carolina helps move the chairs downstairs Kale starts to organize his frazzled thoughts. "Hey Houdini." Alpha whispers from the armor. "You alright?" Alpha being a full A.I. knew that facing an angry Carolina couldn't do well emotionally for anyone, let alone a single kid.

"Not really, but thanks anyways." Kale replies shakily voice breaking a bit. (Be careful to follow the proper conversation format. Every new speaker gets a new paragraph.)

"You're welcome too...oh by the way I'm fine. Thanks for asking." Alpha's snarky response helped Kale feel a bit more at ease. "Uh oh. Solider coming right your way, bye!" Kale looks over his shoulder, taking quick notice of South helmet now off going over to him. "Hey, North wanted to know if you wanted to save a seat next to us." She asks a bit quietly.

He notices the regret and somewhat fear on her face. "Yeah sure...hey are you-" South quickly whirls around, marching out the door mumbling. "I'm fine." The doors snap shut behind her.

Kale groans and rubs his forehead a migraine coming over him. "Great...I hope they have Advil in the future." He gripes, going out the door South already down on the training floor.

Finding the rest of the Freelancers wasn't very hard. C.T almost came running in after a couple of minutes and practically crashed into Kale demanding to know what happened. After repeatedly telling C.T he was fine she stopped pestering him about if he was dizzy or not. Looking over behind her York and Maine came in next with Wyoming in tow discussing something about what transpired. "Are you sure Carolina almost..."

York looked to Carolina, uncertainty brimming in his eyes.

"I was there mate." Wyoming begrudgingly said. Maine's face twisted into an amused grimace. How funny would it be to see Carolina really...lose it.

With all the freelancers present and chairs set up they took their seats. Kale, to the shock of most, took the seat next to South. On the outside, he looked completely unfazed by the close distance, even uninterested, but on the inside he was going insane. He didn't want to give South anymore reason to kill him, but there was also no way in hell he was going to give anyone else a reason to call him a wimp.

With the Director nowhere in sight and the 10 minutes up, Carolina decided it was time.

"Kale!" She shouted. Kale had to refrain himself from snapping right to attention. "Start the videos."

"You heard her F.I.L.S.S start up episode 4 season 6." Kale muttered his voice a bit weaker than usual. He mildly mused that it could probably because of fact that he had fewer Freelancers out for his blood this time around. Either way, he took his seat again C.T slipping next to him.

"Beginning playback." The A.I stated in her usual cheery voice.

Director: Dear Chairman

Like the last time, the Freelancers' heads shot up as soon as they hear the Director's voice.

Fade in to a remote base of some sort, with Washington and Caboose approaching the structure.

Director: Rest assured we have the situation under control.

Washington could almost feel the pressure in his chest melt away as he said that. Maybe he wouldn't meet the same fate as agent Texas...

Director: While the Meta is proving to be an elusive enemy, our Recovery agent is already closing in on it. I expect this incident will reach a conclusion soon, and I will be able to return to my research. Hopefully, without further interruption.

All of the freelancers had what seemed to be smiles on their faces. The Director saying everything would be fine seemed to give them a new sense of hope. He inspired them to be better and with going back to his research...maybe things would go back to normal.

Washington: And you're sure this is where we can find this guy?

"Oh great Wash your trying to find another one of these guys." York said his words laced with pity. "If he's anything like Caboose then..." He shuddered a bit at the thought of two of them running around.

Caboose: I think so. We all found out our new orders at the same time; he tried to hide his from me so I would not know where he was.

South scoffs at the slim trooper." Really? I can't imagine why." North elbows her in the side.

"What?!" North chuckles and shakes his head at her remark.

Washington: Really? I can't imagine why.

Most of the others break out into snickers. South groans shaking her head. "Great I'm thinking like the wuss now." North smiles knowing that at least she was thinking as straight as Washington.

Caboose: I said it was like a game of hide and seek, and he said that that was right; he was going to hide from me. And the only way he could win, is if he dies without ever seeing me again.

A sort a silence settled over them for a second. They really couldn't deny that they wouldn't do the same if put in the same shoes.

Washington: And he knows about Freelancer as well.

Caboose: Oh, yeah, he knows the most. He knows uh, all about your A.I. game. He dated Tex!

York smiled at the fact that Texas had a chance to date. Dating a freelancer was almost unheard of in their line of work. His eyes looked over to Carolina over to the side of him. "Well at least one of us can find love in the universe." He thought to himself.

Alpha inside of Kale's armor was suddenly very interested in who they were about to meet. If this guy could explain what was wrong with the A.I's maybe they could fix them.

Washington: Agent Texas? Um, how could a person-

A sniper shot rings out between them

Washington: Fuck, sniper get down!

"Shit." South mutters under her breath. She knew from her experiences with North and Wyoming was that if you ever got in the sights of a sniper you were in some serious trouble. Carolina flinched at the sound of the shot her reflexes kicking in.

Caboose: Huh?

Voice: Okay that was your one warning shot! The next ones going right between your eyes!

Alpha honed in his attention to the new arrival as most already had. Not for the sniper shots or the fact that he knew about A.I's but for his voice...

Washington: Private Caboose! Get down!

Caboose: Wait a minute-

"You dont have a minute you idiot!" Carolina said her patience with this sim trooper already running thin.

Voice: Alright! I warned ya! Siyonara, biatch!

Another sniper shot misses Caboose

Voice: Aw come on, what the fuck!?

"Looks like Caboose can have that minute Carolina." York said a bit amused.

Washington: Caboose!

Caboose: I know that voice! Church! Church! It's me! You're all time best friend!

Alpha and Carolina brains almost shut down at the mention of the name Church. It wasn't a well-known fact that the Directors last name was Church. But...the voice sounded too..off to be the Director.

Besides they knew he was a much better shot.

Church: Caboose? Caboose is that you?

Caboose: Yes! Church, it's me!

Church starts firing at Caboose a lot, and missing, a lot.

North and Wyoming stare at the screen in what seems to be shock. "How the bloody hell does one person miss...how many times did the bloke fired?" North just shakes his head. "That just...he should have hit by now."

Caboose: I have missed you so much! It has been so long! Did you miss me!?

Church: Fuck! I missed him!

Caboose: I knew you did!

Church: Go away!

"No wonder this guy wanted to hide his papers." C.T said rubbing her temples. "I don't think I could survive an hour alone with this guy let alone months at a time." She shuddered at the thought.

Washington: This is your friend?

Caboose: Yeah.

The shooting resumes.

"I'm half tempted to give this guy a heat seeking launcher." York muses out loud, shaking his head in disbelief.

"I think that this guy is defying nature by missing this many times!" North says clearly exasperated.

Washington: And he's shooting at you.

Caboose: Well, at me and stuff around me. Yeah, it is kind of like our thing. So he acts like he doesn't like me, but he really does. Oh and he might bring up something about me killing him, but that's only the truth. Uh it's a joke. *inhale* You could play along if you want!

The Freelancers cast a questioning look at Kale. "He killed his teammate...As in dead?" South questions incredulously. "Is he like Maine or something? A human tank?"

Maine growled in what seemed to be an offended manner. "Sorry Maine but it's true."

Kale looked at them and shrugged. "Something like that." Kale said not looking at them. Carolina took note of that and made sure to ask him later.

Washington: Wait, that doesn't make any sense. You did what? You- you killed him?

Church: Hey, scram, seriously! Get the fuck outta here.

Caboose: Hey Church! This is Agent Washington! He needs to speak to you.

Church: Agent Wa- You brought a Freelancer here? What's wrong with you?

Most of the freelancers glared at the trooper. "What's his problem?" York said with much distaste.

"Cool it York, maybe he's just jealous of us because we can actually hit with a sniper." He jokes half-heartedly, trying to calm his raging friend.

Washington: Open this gate.

Church: Uh, no can do bud. See this is a secure facility: nobody in, nobody out. Sorry, I guess you'll have to come back, never.

Washington: Oh no, than I guess we'll have to just walk through the huge hole in your secure wall.

Washington has a bit of a smug look on his face as he watches the debate which was going in his favor. Kale starts to lightly snicker and this slowly goes around the freelancers.

Church: Fine, I'll open the fucking gate.

Cut to the inside of the base, which looks all corroded and obviously aged.

Wyoming lets out a low whistle at the sight of the base. "Jesus that place looks fuc-"

She grunts when North's elbow makes contact with her ribcage. North shoots her a warning look. "Watch your mouth sis. Do you want me to scrub it with soap like mom did?" Kale tries to hide his smile but fails miserably, quickly receiving a glare from South.

Church: Okay well, sorry the place is so messy. I would have cleaned up if I'd known you guys were coming. But hey, no-one called ahead.

Now that Alpha could get a clear look at..."Church" he realized that he and him had very...striking resemblances in terms of armor color...and voice...possibly attitude.

Washington: How long have you been here?

Church: How long? Um... What day is today?

Washington: Today is Tuesday.

Church: I've been here fourteen months.

"Whoa...fourteen months? by himself?" North says disbelievingly to himself the idea to him was impossible. He was very big on family...the thought of not seeing any one of them for fourteen months was insane.

Washington: What? Over a year, by yourself? Alone?

Church: Yeah, it's been um... it's been great, I mean just, just it's been great. Really great.

"Something tells me it wasn't too great." C.T mutters, her voice carrying an edge of pity in it.

The all too familiar radio sounds.

Command: This is Command calling Recovery One, come in Recovery One.

Washington: You are really an odd group of people.

"Understatement of the freaking century Wash." York drones, rolling his eyes.

Washington: Hold on. This is Agent Washington. I found some blue team members that have extensive experience with Omega.

Alpha held his attention on the name Omega. Maybe it was a coincidence that they were both named after the Greek alphabet, but they both may have a connection. "So wait...these...simulation troopers." Carolina puts heavy emphasis on 'simulation troopers'. "Managed to hang on to Freelancer equipment and not get killed, arrested or even kicked out of the army?"

Kale shrugs and rubs his forehead. "Special circumstances led to them getting off the hook...either that or you really, really, need to keep track of your stuff."

Church: Did he just say Omega?

Caboose: Yeah. And some other words too.

Command: Excellent Agent Washington, please stand by for orders.

The camera pans behind someone invisible who then darts off before Church looks where he was.

The tension in the room suddenly skyrocketed with the arrival of the enemy. Carolina notes how apparently he had cloaking similar to hers except this was much more advanced.

Command: Now that you have reassembled the Blues, you should head to Outpost 17-B. See what clues your team can gather there based on what they know.

Washington: Roger that.

Command: They want you to stop the Meta at all costs. This is a Level One directive. Good luck Wash. Recovery Command out.

Washington sighed and rubbed his face, trying to suppress his fear. Noticing his obvious discomfort Alpha very quietly whispered. "You're doing it to him again, Kale."

Kale stiffened and gripped his seat.

South noticed this and threw him a wary glance. "You okay kid?" He looked over to her and rubbed his head.

"Nothing just a headache." Kale assures quietly.

Washington: Recovery One out. Come on, let's move out.

Church: Move out? Hey at what point in this conversation did you think that we were buddies or somethin'? I'm not goin' with you.

"What a stubborn little prick." C.T. growls out, frustrated with the trooper.

Caboose: Yes! You are not in our buddy club!

"And a little idiot to boot." Carolina added, her expression twisting into something resembling an angry bear.

Church: Shut up Caboose, and what did I tell you about that armor, when we had to pick new suits?

Caboose: You told me to upgrade.

Church: That's not an upgrade! This is Mark Six armor, that's Mark Five. This is an upgrade.

Caboose: In a Top Ten list, five is better than six.

Church: We're not a top ten list!

York craned his neck to look around. "I think this is another sign that we should form a band." All who were present groaned. "Hey come on it could be great! Wyoming you know how to play keyboard right?"

A harsh glare from Wyoming quickly silenced him. "I play the piano not that rubbish keyboard."

Washington: How do you ever get anything done if all you ever do is argue with each other?

Church: We don't, that's part of our charm. Quit fuckin' it up!

Carolina growled and gripped into her chair a bit more mumbling to herself.

Washington: Look, I know you guys are all wrapped up in your little "red vs. blue" battles-

Caboose: Blue vs. red battles. No-one says red vs. blue, it sounds stupid when you say it backwards.

Washington: But this is important. Actual military operations. Not your fake simulation stuff. Something is hunting our top agents, and I need all the help I can get to stop it.

The Freelancers had looks of utter disbelief on their faces. Wash looked deathly pale almost faint worthy. "No..." He whispered out. Currently Wash was at the bottom of the leader board and if this thing had hunted down everyone above him... Kale looked down his eyes filled with sadness for them.

Church: Stop it? If it's killing Freelancers I want to start a fan club for it, build it a website.

"Wash please shut him up...put a bullet through his jaw or kick him in the nuts, whatever comes first." York says off handedly.

Washington: And now that the ship from your canyon is crashed, we think it's more powerful than ever. It gains new abilities every time it kills-

Church: Wait wait wait, whoa- you found Tex's ship?

"Oh so his girlfriend comes into play huh? Guess we aren't all that important compared to her." C.T jibes in a mocking tone.

Washington: We believe so.

Church: Where?

Washington: Come with me, and I'll show you.

Church: Okay, I'm in.

Caboose: Yes, this will be the greatest road trip ever!

Church: If you say anything positive, I will fucking kill all three of us right now.

"Oh dear God...these idiots can't be in the army, no way they got past basic training!" South groans, truly trying to comprehend the pair's idiocy.

"It can only go down from here." Kale whispers to her quietly. South groaned again.

Caboose: Okay. I will be very depressed about how awesome this will be.

The Meta uncloaks on the base and starts meddling with a recording he made of Washington's conversation with Command to create new audio, then sounds the radio with it

Noticing what he was doing C.T was disturbingly impressed by the speed of how he did this. Manipulating and creating new audio transmissions was not as easy as it seemed. Granted she could do this in about 10 minutes because she trained for this stuff but at the rate he was going this...Meta was a genius.

Command: This is Command calling Red Base, come in Red Base.

Sarge: This is Blood Gulch Outpost Number One.

"Oh great I was wondering what he was doing." York says as blandly as possible.

Command: Agent Washington has reassembled the Blues.

Sarge: I knew it! I knew he was a Blue!

Command: Gather your team, we want you to stop Agent Washington at all costs. This is a level one directive. Good luck Red Base.

"That's assuming that this guy knows what a level one directive is." Carolina mutters to herself almost hoping that he would be an idiot and ignore the message.

Sarge: Hey, one sec. Any word on that soldier poison I ordered?

"You can never have enough soldier poison" Wyoming says offhandedly

Command: No. Good luck Red Base.

Sarge: What about the robot nuts?

Command: No. Good luck Red Base. Command out.

Sarge: Well you don't have to get so te- ...

Meta closes the connection

"Well Wash don't worry about a thing. If that's the best this...Meta can send after you? You'll be just fine." North reassured his friend who looked pale.

Sarge: Hello? Hello, can you hear me? ...How 'bout now? This thing gets terrible reception. Only have one bar. ...Hello? Can you hear me now?

North looked slowly looked over to Wash. "Again if that's the best this Meta can send after you? You'll be just fine." North said just shaking his head with a smile.

Meta sees someone in purple armor off to the side. South steps out from behind a broken wall with Delta activated

North's good mood is shattered by the appearance of his sister and his face went pale so fast people could swear he was turning into a ghost. South stared at the soldier in a state of awe. That was her? Then a feeling a dread settled upon South. That was her. The one that shot Washington in the back and left for dead.

Washington stared at her realizing this fact as well...

He wanted to run and hide again but held his ground and settled for shaking in his armor.

Delta: I still believe this course of action is dangerous. If we are following Agent Washington, logic would dictate that others could be as well.

North latched his hand onto his sisters.

"You're gonna be fine sis..." Although he wasn't so sure of himself that.

The Chamber room

The Director ran around frantically checking every system, every circuit breaker, anything that could be wrong.

She could have been hurt. She could have been killed! She could have been-

"Director?" He spun around, panic still very much evident on his face. There stood the Councilor a neutral expression on his face. "We have patched her into the prototype armor. But..."

The Director didn't wait to hear the rest, already rushing past the Councilor frantically.

He quickly closed the distance to the pure black armor behind the Councilor. It had the standard orange visor and the new A.I storage compartment built in. It was built to be the pinnacle of perfection with extra strength, speed, and armor enhancements.

His eyes widened as the armor started to twitch.

Well that's it for this chapter kids. I hope you liked it but we all know what you've waited for! It's the Roosterteeth quote of the week!

This week's quote goes to Mad King Ryan as we see a new side to his raging insanity after Micheal frees Eadger from his prison but...

Ryan: I grew wheat and lead a cow back in.

Micheal: So-so wait did you get Eadger back?

Ryan: I dunno.

Micheal: So you just got a random cow. So as far as we know he's free.

Ryan: Look you don't understand, Eadger is the one in the hole!

Everyone starts dying of laughter while Micheal rages about slavery.
