When I came to but bindings had gotten an upgrade. Instead of being tied to a chair I was chained to a wall. "There's a compliment here somewhere," I said testing the chains. They wouldn't break, they were too strong or I was still too weak from the vervain injections. Either way I wasn't getting out of these without some help. "Enzo! Finally you're awake," Elena said relieved. I looked up and saw her sitting in a chair facing me. "What are we going to do?" She asked. I shrugged, "I'm sure Damon and Stefan will come and rescue you." "But what about you?" She asked. I smiled, "I've known Damon since before your mother was born Sweetling. He will get me out of here and if not him then Alverna."
"Why would she help you?" Elena inquired. I sighed, "Because we're sleeping together." She seemed taken aback but before she could ask another dumb question the door opened. "Hello," The red haired human who pumped me full of vervain said closing the door behind her. "Hi," I said flashing my fangs. She just smiled and walked over to Elena. "You friends have been very co-operative in our negotiations." She said. I saw hope on her naive face. The human walked over to Elena knocked her out with an elbow to the face. I was faintly surprised. "I presume this is the part when you stick another needle full of vervain into my arm." I sighed. The human smiled and took a syringe out of her pocket.
Alverna
I was terrified that Enzo was going to die but I hide it well, centuries of plots and lies will make you pretty good at hiding your emotions. "He'll be okay," Niklaus said softly to me. I didn't try to protest, Klaus knew me too well. I gave him a grateful smile then turned my attention to the black van coming towards us along the dirt road. The wolves had chosen a deserted lot for our exchange.
When it pulled up I stood with my head held high and with Vampires and an ex-hunter at my back. Everyone but Rebekah was here. She was watching our captive. We stood in silence all of us watching the van pull up. Werewolves in there human form poured out of the vehicle and took up defensive positions. "Well, where's Mason?" A red headed human said. "Show us Enzo and Elena first." I said. The girl shrugged, and gestured for the wolves to bring out the captives.
Elena had a bruise on her face and some small cuts on her arms but otherwise looked fine. Lorenzo however was in worse shape. From the look on his face, they had flooded his bloodstream with vervain, several times. I was suddenly filled with rage, "How dare they do that to my Enzo, How dare they hurt him!" I thought. Niklaus saw me tense and whispered "We can kill them after they've given us our friends," in my ear. I suppressed my anger but it was still bubbling just under the surface of my calm uncaring mask. The wolves, however didn't notice.
"Becca, Bring out Mr. Lockwood." I said. Rebekah had the teenager thrown over her shoulder with a sack on his head. A wolf sniffed the air and tensed. The pack all crouched into a battle stance. Alarm bells went of in my head as my fangs came out. Then they attacked us. But it wasn't just them, others poured out of the forest and attacked. I tried to make my way to Enzo but there was too many wolves, no matter how hard I fought.
I heard Niklaus ripping them apart and saw Elijah ripping hearts out with such dignity I almost laughed. The wolves were horribly out matched but there was just so many. When one died another three took it's place. Kol and I somehow found ourselves back to back. "Looks like you got your heartbroken," Kol said crushing a wolves heart. I smiled and dispatched another two. "Careful don't lose your head!" He laughed. I'm sure you can gather what he did to that unfortunate soul. I threw one of the wolf's bane grenades where I was sure it wouldn't hit my brother and saw about ten wolves fall to the ground in agony
Suddenly the fight stopped. And an ear splitting scream broke the silence that befell the battlefield. I winced at the noise. Then the wolves ran. I had to hold Kol back so he wouldn't go chasing after them. When the wolves were all gone I could see the culprit of the scream. Elena. And I could see why. A hooded figure stood over the body of the human red head with a sword dripping blood. I was surprised, I knew she was their ringleader but how did they know she was dead. "Who are you?" Damon asked while his brother rushed past him to Elena.
The Figure pulled back her hood. The sword wielding stranger was looked about twenty-one and had raven ringlets falling around her shoulders and sapphire eyes that were almost luminescent. "Clara?!" Alaric said. "Hello brother," The woman said. "What are you doing here?" He asked. "Saving your ass, as per usual," She said. "I take it you two know each other," Elijah said. "Oh yeah, um guys this is my little sister Clara," he said still kinda bewildered by the sudden reunion. "A pleasure to meet someone so talented and beautiful," Kol said bowing and kissing Clara's hand.
I was a little distracted at the time because you know my Enzo was no where in sight. "Enzo!" I called out. A heard a faint whisper and rushed towards it. When I found him I almost collapsed in relief. He was lying on the forest floor trying to heal. "Alverna," He murmured when he saw me. "Hey, Come on lets get you out of here," I said helping him up and then holding him up as he limped to the clearing. When he was safely tucked away in my car I searched for my siblings. I saw everybody but Niklaus.
I looked for Klaus and found him kneeling over a golden haired form lying on the ground. "Caroline?!" I exclaimed alarmed. I rushed over to her side. "Hi," She said weakly. "Niklaus what happened?" I asked fear for my friend in my voice. "She was bitten and won't accept my blood." He said grimly. "Caroline what's wrong with you drink now," I commanded as Klaus offered his wrist. She shook her head. "I can't," she said. "You will, or I'll force it down your throat." I said angry that she won't heal herself. "No, I have to die here." She said he eyes going glassy.
I hissed my rage mounting. "Father compelled her," I said. "It was rather easy actually finding someone you held dear Klaus." Mikael said stepping out of the forest. "Come any closer and I will rip you to shreds." I said stepping in front of Klaus. My other siblings came to my side. "You can not win against all of us pick your battles father, you taught me that. I think it's time for you to heed your own words," I said. He snarled, "You cannot hid behind your siblings forever boy, especially with one keeping secrets." Then he crept back into the woods.
"What did he mean by keeping secrets?" Becca asked us after he was gone. I shrugged and looked away. "Alverna?" Finn said seeing my clear distress. "He meant me," I said, confessing to something I knew before Henrick was even born. "Can we discuss this later," I said kneeling beside Caroline. Niklaus had removed all the compulsion and she had drunk his blood but she was still weak. I helped my brother load Caroline into the car with Enzo.
"Where are you taking her?" Elena said rushing forward. "To my house where she will be safe from our father," I said. "You can't do that!" Elena exclaimed. "It's fine," Caroline mumble. "See it's not kidnapping everything will be okay, However I do need to compel Mr. Lockwood over there." I said moving towards the confused teenager. "Hi," I said brightly. "Forget everything that happened today, forget that we are vampires, forget that you are a werewolf but when you do turn remember everything and kill Elena Gilbert, do you understand?" I asked. He said in a monotone voice, "I understand," I smiled at him and told him to go home.
He did so and I walked back towards the group. Just as I planned the only one close enough to hear my demands was Kol and he wasn't going to rat on me. Although he was really trying hard to seduce Clara. I smiled at her playing hard to get and him falling for it. "It's a shame he can't ever find actual love" I thought. Thinking of my brother's failed relationships made me remember back to when I was human just before everything when to hell.
"Verna!" a child's voice called out, "wait for me!" I giggled and ran faster out running my little brother. "You'll never catch me Henrick!" I called over my shoulder. However Niklaus could. "Got you!" my brother said tackling me to the ground. "Ow!" I exclaimed, "You weigh more than a horse!" He laughed and helped me up. Then Henrick caught up and tapped me on the shoulder. "I win!" He said jumping up and down. "Only because Klaus cheated," I said sticking my tongue out at him. He laughed and told me that I should run faster and he would be able to cheat. I felt something dripping down my arm. When I looked I saw a crimson ribbon of blood dripping down my arm. "I cut myself," I said.
Klaus's expression turned from cheerful to protective and concerned in an instant. "I'll tell mother," Henrick said speeding back to out cottage. "Let me look at it," my older brother said. I extended my arm out towards him and he searched for the cut. After a few painful prods he told me it looked worse than it was. I was worried that it might get infected and then my arm would be cut off. Klaus reassured me that mother wouldn't let that happen as we walked back to our home.
Ester stood in the doorway when we got there. "It's not serious just looks it," Niklaus told his mother. "You were stupid to get hurt in the first place." Ester said cleaning the wound and bandaging it. I looked at the ground. The others didn't understand why Ester hated me, but I had figured it out a long time ago, I wasn't her child. Father had been drunk one night and gone home with a stranger, my mother. My mother died giving birth to me and a few days later Ester's baby died. So father took me in and made me part of his family but I knew Ester would never love me.
Klaus however did love me. He loved Becca and I the most. After Ester left I sat on my furs and Niklaus joined me. "Here," He said giving me a little carving. I gasped. It was amazing he had sculpted me a little bird from a piece of the white oak tree that grew in the middle of down. "Thank you brother," I said hugging him. He smiled and we when back outside to play.
Alverna
I still had my little bird, It was nestled in a silk pouch which I kept around my neck. "Alverna," Elijah said, "Yeah?" I asked. "We're departing," he said. I nodded and he went to drag Kol off Clara. I got in the passenger side of the car and Niklaus got in the drivers side. We drove to the house in silence. In fact we didn't talk at all until the others got home and we had tucked Enzo and Caroline into out bedrooms. Marina was helping Enzo to recover from the vervain.
Finn, Elijah, Niklaus, Rebekah and Kol gathered in the lounge room. I followed them in without looking anyone in the eyes. I drew a shack breath."This secret how long have you been keeping it?" Klaus asked. "A thousand years," I answered after a long pause. He looked shocked but understanding, "If you felt the need to keep it this long sister then so be it," he said. When he called be sister the truth came to my mind. He is not my brother, but he loved me the most. A tear slid down my cheek. "Thank you brother but I think it's time for everyone to know, however I will warn you I have been keeping more then one secret for our long lives, and when you find out you will all hate me but just remember I didn't what to keep this knowledge from you, but I couldn't betray him," I said.
My siblings were confused. "I am your half sister, Father had an affair and I was the product." I said. If they were confused before then they were dumbfounded now, "No it's not possible I remember mother being pregnant and giving birth." Finn said taking a step towards me. I smiled sadly, "My mother died in childbirth and you actual sister died in the womb, Father thought I would suffice as a replacement." I answered. I looked into Niklaus's eyes and saw something I didn't expect, relief. Relief that he wasn't alone, relief that there was someone who understands him. "I'm sorry for not telling you sooner but I didn't want father to use me as leverage to divide us." I said.
"Why would you think we would hate you for this, it's not you're fault." Becca said drawing me into a hug. I smiled. "That's not why you will hate me, Follow me" I said. Our footsteps echoed as I lead my siblings to the cellar. Rebekah gasped when she saw the coffin in the middle of the room. "I wanted to tell you, but he wouldn't let me," I said opening the coffin. "Henrick!?" Kol said rushing forward. "How?" Elijah asked astounded. "Why don't you ask me?" Henrick said from the coffin. I helped him sit up and get out of his bed. He lost his balance and almost fell but luckily he had six siblings with lightning fast reflexes to catch him.
"Wow mother really did do a good job with the immortality spell," He said, "You guys look exactly the same, only there's something different about you Klaus," Henrick said studying his half brother. "I'm a hybrid, not a vampire." Klaus answered. Henrick was confused but I explained everything to him. "So I have two half siblings and both of my parents had affairs?" Henrick asked after I told him everything. I nodded. "Well that's to complicated to remember you guys are just my sister and brother, putting half in front makes it too long," He said hugging me. I laughed at him and Klaus smiled.
