Hi again everybody, so I know you all hate me for the last chapter but I have to keep things interesting

Alverna

New Orleans, 12 March 1909

"Sister!" I called, banging on her bedroom door. I heard her sigh though the door. "I'm busy Alverna!" she called back. I heard a quite giggle. "Oh dear god," I thought. "Rebekah, we're going to be late for the party, Niklaus is planning something and I'd rather not be in the dark on this little plot of his," I said opening the door. "Well what a shock, hello Marcellus. I'm afraid that my sister has to come with me, you too are really bad at sneaking around by the way," I told them with my arms crossed. "Your not going to tell Klaus are you?" Marcel said fear in his eyes. "Why would I do that?" I said rolling my eyes. "Let's go Becca." I dragged the lovestruck vampire out of the room, however she did manage to blow Marcel a kiss as we were leaving.

The party was in full swing when Rebekah and I showed up. "Sisters!" Kol roared, blind drunk. "You go have fun while I deal with Kol," I told Becca. She smiled at me and patted Kol on the shoulder as he tried to hug her. I lead my brother away from the crowds of breakable humans. "Kol, stop pretending, you never get drunk," I said. He flashed me a smile and dropped the act. "I needed to talk to you in private," he said becoming serious, "Well this is about as private as it's gonna get," I said looking at abandoned alley and wrinkling my nose at the terrible stench from the garbage bins.

"I think the werewolves are plotting to take over the French quarter," He said in a hushed tone. "Even if they did, the squabbles over territory have nothing to do with us, that's a problem for Elijah and Klaus, why are you telling me?" I asked. "Well I think it's Klaus's doing," My little brother told me. I wasn't shocked but I wasn't expecting that. "You're probably right, he's got a soft spot for injustice sufferers," I said thinking about how this could play out well for my family. "Keep me informed on any new discoveries brother, but for now lets just enjoy the party," I said opening the back door we sneaked out of.

The party goers were downing drinks next to me at the bar. I was minding my own business when suddenly a stab of pain when though my midsection. I gasped and doubled over in pain. "Witches," I whispered. My head darted up and I used my vampire speed to stumble into my hybrid brother.

"Alverna? What's wrong?" He said worry and protectiveness in his eyes. "We have to leave, now," I said dragging him towards the door. But I was too late. A trio of silk garbed witches walked into the party and honed in on my brother. I stepped in front of him, standing tall with my head up and fangs exposed. They hesitated but continued their advance, well until my back up arrived. Rebekah and Kol stood at me side and Marcellus and some of the other vampires flanked us. The trio stopped considering weather or not they were strong enough to face us all. "Do you really want to risk it Lana?" I asked the dark haired witch standing in the middle.

She glared at me "This isn't over Michaelson, we will get retribution for our dead," Lana said. I smiled "I doubt that pumpkin, now why don't you and your little followers quit before this gets ugly," I told her. Lana gave me another dead stare then she and her little cult stalked out of the bar. "I can handle myself," Niklaus sad annoyed at me for protecting him. "If I hadn't this would have turned out much worse and you would be writhing in pain brother dear, so a thank you might be appreciated," I said. I dusted off his shoulders and kissed him on the cheek. "Go back to your celebration Niklaus, Let me deal with Lana." He didn't seamed pleased with my nonchalance about the confrontation, "At least take someone with you," He said, over protective as always, "I'll bring Elijah," I promised, flashing him and smile.

Henrick

Mystic Falls, Present Day

The bedroom Alverna had made for me was amazing. The walls were a sky blue and the floor was soft and comfy, much better than the dirt floors we had in the hut. There were three 'windows' as Alverna called them and toys everywhere. They were less durable than my old playthings much 'cooler' I think the term is. Finn had given me a ball for kicking and sent me into the little orchard behind the house. When I got bored of that I wondered the giant house I now lived in. I actually got lost several times but eventually I found something familiar and knew where I was again.

I was in the place where they kept the reading things when a delicious and unfamiliar smell wafted from an open door. I followed the smell until I got to a white and shiny room. There was a blonde girl in a yellow apron, white shirt and blue 'jeans' as Rebekah told me. "Hi," I said to the girl. She jumped almost to the roof. "Who are you?" She asked surprised by my sudden appearance. "Oh I'm Henrick, Klaus and Verna's youngest brother, who are you?" I said. "My names Caroline, I'm a friend of your siblings," She said, "do you want a cookie?"

"What's a cookie?" I asked. "You don't know what a cookie is?" She asked. I shook my head, "Never even heard of them," I answered. She gasped, "Young man you have not lived," She smiled handing me a round brown object. She took a bite to an identical object. I took a tentative bite and she was right. The 'cookie' was fantastic. "Wow, that is good," I said though a mouthful of cookie. Caroline laughed, "If you think they're good then you should try these," She said turning around and opening a trapdoor on in the wall. When she faced me again she had giant gloves on her hands and a metal tray covered in little lite brown circles with drops of red in their centre.

"What are they?" I asked sniffing the air. "Jam drops, be careful they're hot," Caroline said holding one out to me. I took it and bit it in half. "Oh my goodness, You are amazing," I said after swallowing the jam drop. Caroline laughed again. "I see you two are getting along well," A familiar voice said from the doorway. "Nik, have you met Caroline, she's great!" I said to my brother. He smiled, "You could say that, But shouldn't you be writing your letters Care, times running out," Klaus said.

Caroline's smile dissipated, "I was but then I got stressed so I decided to bake, then I met Henrick and well you know the rest," She said. He smiled at her. It was a strange smile, I was confused then it became clear, "Oh are you guys 'together'?" I said connecting the dots. They both smiled and Caroline shrugged, "Sort of." "Wait what did you mean about times running out?" I asked Niklaus.

I saw deep pain in his eyes as Caroline looked away from me. "I'm dying Henrick," She answered sadly. I was surprised and sad, "No, I won't let you." I stated, "Where Mother's Grimoire?" I demanded, determination filling me. "Elijah has it," He said hope sparking in his eyes. "Bring it to me, I will not let such a nice person die," I said.
