Alverna

New Orleans 12 March 1909

"Good Evening little witches," I said throwing the doors to their hide out open. It was rather dramatic if I do say so myself. A fire ball flickered into life in Lana's hand. The other five or so witches in the room began to draw on their magic. Suddenly, and much to their surprise, their magic disappeared. Lana's fire ball winked out of existence and the other girls collapsed on to the floor. "Do you like my newest toy?" I asked revealing a prefect sphere made out of sapphire. It was nestled in my palm and had started to glow. "How did you get a Zabrat' Sphere?" Lana said falling to her knees. I flashed her a smile. "I was gift from my favourite clan of witches, The Roliki," I smiled at her. "Those Russian hags," she spat venomously. My anger flared. I handed the sphere to my brother who was watching the events unfold with a calm demeanour and threw Lana into a wall.

"If you disrespect my friends or threaten my family again the witches will need a new leader you insufferable maggot," I whispered in her ear as I pressed her up against the wall by her throat. As she gasped for breath I debated how the witches would react to me killing their leader. "Sister, as much as letting you kill her would give me pleasure we have more important things to do than start wars with the witches," Elijah said.

I grinned at Lana, a cruel and sadistic smile. "But brother, she's a threat to our peace," I said innocently letting my fangs snap down. I had already decided that I wasn't going to kill her or even sink my fangs into her pretty little neck but she didn't need to know that. Lana whimpered. After a few moments of eyeing her neck I sighed and let her fall to the ground. Just as I was about to leave I turned to face Lana who was trying to get up off the floor. "Next time, Elijah won't be here to stop me," I told the witch.

"Was that really necessary?" My brother asked as we walked home. I grinned at him, "Of course not but scaring her was great fun," I said. He laughed and then turned the sphere over in his hands. "Did do you get the Roliki to do favours for you?" He asked studying the gem. "They're my friends, I've known all of them since they were children, even their eldest member cannot remember a time before they were friends of the 'eternal beauty' " I told him taking the gem back. He seamed surprised. "When did you first met them?" He asked. "In a little town west of Moscow 1521, It was called Zapad. If I remember correctly it was burned to the ground when the witches migrated to America," I explained, pocketing the Zabrat' Sphere. "They were very secretive, it took me a week of running around in the woods to find them," I said smiling at the memory. A loud bang echoed down the deserted street. My head snapped in the direction of out mansion and I ran towards the building. When I got there there were werewolves everywhere. And heads littering the floor.

Caroline

I sighed. God this is boring. My arms were taking forever to undesiccate enough for me to move them. I was tantalisingly close to movement. I could wiggle my toes and fingers and even flex my wrist a little but I couldn't move my elbow. I was very frustrating. Then I heard footsteps. I wonder who that is. "What the hell is a coffin doing in the basement?" an unfamiliar feminine voice said. I knew it! They put me in the basement!. I heard her open the lid and gasp. "Your the girl for the painting, Caroline." Painting? Oh the one Niklaus did someone has been snooping. I moved my wrist and heard her fall back in shock. "Can you hear me?" she asked. No I can't I'm trying to get your attention for no reason. "Um okay, move twice for no one for yes," she said, "Are you alive?" I flicked my wrist once, Nope not alive at all I'm definitely dead. "Okay, Can I help you?" she asked. I moved my wrist once. "Are you dying?" I flicked my wrist twice

"Um, I there something in your heart?" she said. Again I flicked it once. Finally someone figured it out, I wonder if this girl is Hope? "I'm going to try and pull it out," she said. Well she has better manners than Alverna at least she warned me before yanking something out of my heart. I braced myself for the pain but it didn't come. Hmm looks like that area is numb, thank goodness. I didn't want to know what it felt like to have someone literally dig around in my heart. "There's a splinter in here I'm going to take it out now," she said yanking something. I inhaled a huge breath of air. And sat straight up.

"Thanks, I've been trying to get that thing out for days," I said to the girl. I looked at her for the first time and found the resemblance to Niklaus striking. "Your welcome,"she said surprised by my sudden alertness. I opened my jacket pocket and torn open the envelope with Klaus's name on it and took out my Daylight ring. "I'm Caroline,I'm guessing you're Hope," I said slipping the ring on my finger and ripping up the letter. "Yeah," she said. "It's nice to met you," I told her getting out of the coffin. "Is anybody home?" I asked. "Just me and Henrick," she said. "Would you mind helping my up the steps I'm still a little weak," I asked. "Yeah sure," she said gently grasping my arm and helping me up the spiral staircase.

So did you all like it? Review and tell me any ideas you've got and yes the flashbacks are important later on.
