Chapter 5: no time to lose.
Is Jason back from the dead and if he is, is he the mysterious red hood? Join Shaya on her quest to figure out who this mysterious vigilante is. Will she figure out the truth or will she die trying. If this is Jason will Shaya be able to bring him back to the hero side or will she fail at saving the one person she loves the most from himself?
A few weeks later I had healed enough to start going on patrols around Gotham again knowing that everywhere I turned I'd be thinking about Red Hood and the possibility that it might be Jason. I knew that I had to somehow get the vigilante's DNA and or somehow get him to take off the mask which would be nearly impossible. One night as I was patrolling I neared Crime Alley I heard gunshots and shouts and hurriedly parked my bike next to the old Hatton's jewelry store and peered around the corner. I saw two bodies lying on the ground and saw one standing but clutching his side and watched as he hopped the fence cutting off the rest of the alley I shone my flashlight and found what I had been hoping to find, a pool of blood I grabbed a small test tube from my utility belt and put some of the blood in it and raced back to the batcave.
As soon as I parked my bike next to the batmobile I raced to the computer and started analyzing the blood. Alfred mentioned something about making tea for me and Bruce and within minutes came back and the analyzing had finished it was a complete match to Jason, Alfred dropped the tray of tea and I jumped up so hard that my chair went flying back smashing into a rack of test tubes. I ran up the stairs to Bruce's study and screamed "Jason is still alive! He's the Red Hood." Bruce looked about as shocked as Alfred and I were and said "how is that possible?" I showed him the results and he shook his head I said "I'm going after him." And whirled around I was still in my robin suit and raced back downstairs and hopped on my bike and sped out of the batcave.
As I searched the streets I knew that Jason couldn't have gotten very far as badly injured as he had been he had lost a lot of blood. I started the search at Crime Alley and parked my bike next to a dumpster near the fence in the back of the alley and hopped the fence eyeing a trail of blood leading to a small apartment building near the mouth of the alley I quietly entered the building and followed even more blood to a door with the numbers 835 and silently pushed it open I noticed a figure lying in a pool of blood next to the couch and drew my bow knowing that Jason was armed and very dangerous even though he looked horribly injured I had seen what he could do.
As I approached Jason he moaned and said "who's there?" I said "I know who you are, Jason." He said "go away whoever you are leave me to die in peace." I kept my bow trained on him and hurriedly searched him over for his weapons and saw that he had none on him. I shook my head letting my hood fall down and knelt beside him and said "Jason its Shaya, do you remember me?" he didn't respond which scared me I took off the mask and saw that he was unconscious and half carried him half dragged him back to my bike and radioed Alfred and said "Alfred I'm bringing Jason back he's badly injured and I have secured his weapons I need you to tell Bruce to bring the batmobile to Crime Alley I can't take him on my bike." I heard Alfred say "I just told Master Bruce. He is on his way and I can say he is not very pleased."
As I sat and waited for Bruce to get there I was surprised at what I had just done I had caught Jason and he was coming home hopefully Bruce wouldn't throw him out just because he was a killer but I knew the possibility of that happening was very high Jason and I were like Bruce's children me so more than Jason since his death. I heard the roar of the batmobile and I cringed knowing very well that I was going to get reprimanded for being so careless but I didn't care I was bringing home the one person that meant more than my family to me I was bringing home my fiancé. As the batmobile pulled into the alley I half carried half dragged him over to the batmobile and put him in the passenger seat and watched as Bruce put handcuffs on Jason and said "I can't take any chances unlike you. What the hell were you thinking going after him alone knowing the people he's killed?" I said "at least I brought him home."
I ran back to my bike threw my helmet on and roared out of the alley before Bruce could even turn the batmobile around. I was furious how dare he treat me like a two year old I am eighteen and I am his partner he had no right yelling at me the way he did.
