Luna
"Human!" I yelled to myself in the fairy language. The mirror proved I have made no headway on this un-unicorning. I have tried for hours and have basically said everything under the sun relating to becoming human. Finally seconds from giving up entirely I shouted, "Bippity boppity boo!" I looked down and saw two combat boots. What's with all the weird words working? I was clad in the outfit I fell asleep in yesterday. I took a moment to study myself in the mirror. My face was thinner and my cheekbones were more pronounced. I kind of looked like my mum. I was about 5'8" now and a little bit muscular looking. My shining hair fell a little past my waist. One thing that was different about my outfit is that I had my sword in a sheath on my left hip. I hurried to the bed and grabbed the silvery bow and matching quiver. I unstrung the bow and put it in the quiver and put it across my back. I rushed to the ladder and climbed out. Oddly enough the bag was on the ground. I picked it up and looked around. I saw/smelled the most delicious looking fruit in the world. My mouth started to water and I reached for the fruit. NO! I need to find Jay or Arax, whatever. I looked around and saw him holding a piece of fruit. It was in that exact second when I realized where we were.
"NOOO!" I screamed and ran towards him. It was to late he already had his mouth to the fruit. I tackled him to the ground, forced his jaw open and ripped the bite of fruit out with my fingers. The juice burned like acid and I knew some had already burned its way down his throat. I picked him up and ran for the end of the forest, sprinting as fast as I could. His breathing got shallower and shallower. I couldn't feel his heart beat.
"Don't leave me, please! Don't make me do this all alone," I begged with him. I hate this enemy! I can't even stab it! Just like the sickness at home, there is nothing to kill. I feel so hopeless. Tears started to stream down my face. I fell to my knees sitting in the middle of the deadly trees and their wretched fruit.
"What are you looking at?!" I sobbed to the fruit. I looked to the unmoving body in my arms. "This is all your fault! Everyone is going to die and its all your fault! All my family back at home is going to die! I'm too weak without his help! Do you see what you've done! He is DEAD!" I started sobbing harder my tears falling on his body. "I'm so sorry," I said quietly, "I'm sorry I didn't trust you. I'm sorry I couldn't keep the dragon from cutting you open. I'm sorry I couldn't keep you from eating this fruit. I-I'm sorry. So sorry." I took a shuddering breath. Tears still falling. I picked his body up and carried it out of the forest of death. When I finally reached the end I realized it was already night. Only one more day, tears sprung anew. Mom, Seth, Grandma, Grandpa, Ruth, Stan, Warren, Vanessa, little Thomas, Charlotte and now Jay. They are all soon dead and its my fault. No.
"Nobody else dies," I tell the stars. "Jay, I promise I will save everyone else! I promise!" One last tear dripped from my chin, and it landed on his chest. I stashed the bag and climbed inside with Jay. I grabbed a rock from the ground as I was getting in. I placed Jay's body on his bunk and sat down on mine trying not to look at him. I stared at the rock in my palm then said a few words in the fairy tongue. I swirled my thumb on the edge and focused on my father.
"Luna?" his weary voice came.
"Dad," I answered hoarsely.
"You sound different are you alright?"
"Jay is dead," I answered my voice quivering, "But I am going to save us all don't you worry."
"Luna are you alright?" He asked again.
"Bye dad."
"Lu-" I ended the connection. I suppose I need to get some rest if I'm going to save the family. I didn't even bother unhooking my sword belt or taking off my quiver. I was too exhausted. Tomorrow I will save the day.
Sorry, I did not plan this it just sort of happened. I blame the keyboard.
