The gifts fate
Chapter 9
„Sif?!" Thor couldn't trust his eyes, as he saw the black haired woman appear behind Odin.
"Hello Thor." She said in a calm and kind of arrogant voice, while glaring at the Jotun, who still cried and desperately tried to cover his body.
"W-Why did you do that?" Thor asked unbelieving, not sure if he should be furious or worried.
"Thor…it's better like this…" She said calm and stepped forward, looking down at the Jotun.
"He would use his child to get the throne and take over Asgard to avenge his folk. That was his plan all along. You can't trust a Jotun, he would do anything to have us all killed." She explained in a strong and sure tone.
Thor looked at Loki as he thought about Sif's words.
"No! He wouldn't do this!" Thor shouted back then.
"How can you know?" Sif asked still calmly, just a bit louder.
Thor opened his mouth to say something, but couldn't think of anything to say. Suddenly he felt unsure about his so called 'lover'. Was Sif right about Loki?
He came a few steps closer to Loki, who turned his head and looked at Thor with a desperate look. His eyes were literally crying for help.
"T-Thor…" Loki whimpered.
"Is that true, Loki?" Thor asked directly, a hurt look on his face.
Loki felt like he would just collapse right there.
He was in danger…His unborn child was in danger...
And now even Thor, the one he got closest to and thought he could trust, was questioning him.
"O-Of course not, Thor!" he sobbed and shifted away. "How can you say that?"
Thor didn't want to believe Sif and he didn't want Loki to be hurt…But in the moment he couldn't tell what was right and what wrong.
"Loki…" he came closer, but Loki flinched, crying even more.
"No! Leave me!" he screamed, trembling as he held himself tightly.
Now he couldn't even trust Thor anymore. They would take his child away, he knew it.
"Loki, please just tell me the truth." Thor said, as he started to doubt his decisions.
"This is the truth!" Loki shouted frustrated.
"Enough!" Odin finally shouted and everything went silent, as everyone looked at the Allfather.
"This has gone too far, this has gone out of hand. The child is a risk for the peace in Asgard. We can't allow letting it be born…" Odin said calmly then and stood up.
Loki looked up, his whole body was trembling, as Odin stepped closer.
"Please don't…" he sobbed quietly.
"Shh…it needs to be stopped before it's too late, it will be best for all of us. Do you understand?" Odin said soothing, while his hand wandered down to Loki's belly.
Thor just stood there and watched the Allfather. He knew better than to stop his father from his doings. His father always knew what he was doing and he knew he did this to keep them all save.
Sure, it hurt Thor more than anything to just stand there and watch, while his beloved was on the edge of a breakdown and his future baby was to be killed… But he knew it would be best.
A half Jotun baby in Asgard could never live peacefully in the palace. It would always have foes, not matter how well protected it would be…It would never be accepted. Thor finally realized that, but still…his heart ached by the sound of Loki's sobs.
"No…" Loki breathed, tears continued to flow over his face and he looked to Thor, his eyes desperate and begging. But Thor just stood there and looked away.
He squeezed his eyes shut, as Odin's hand stayed on his belly. He didn't want to see what would happen next. He had already given up any hope he had left inside of him.
Everything was silent then, Loki was sure this was the end.
But then the big doors of the hall swung open with a loud smashing sound.
All eyes wandered to the door, gasps were to be heard and people began to whisper something.
This was when Loki finally dared to open his eyes.
He didn't except what he saw next then.
A gigantic person stepped through the halls, it's skin was blue, it's red eyes were furious…
"Laufey…" Odin breathed and let go of Loki, who needed a moment to process what actually happened.
"What is the meaning of all this?!" Laufey shouted as he walked past the soldiers.
Odin looked down at Loki, who looked right at the king of Jotunheim.
"How come you're still alive? My men should have killed every single one of your kind!" Thor shouted as he walked forward. Loki swallowed hard at Thor's words.
But Laufey walked right past him, totally ignoring the young prince.
"What is it you want, Laufey?" Odin asked calmly, carefully not to anger the Jotun further.
Laufey finally locked eyes with Loki.
"Isn't it obvious, Allfather? Or are you already this blind to not notice? I want what is mine and what you have taken from me!" Laufey threatened.
And with that, he walked past Odin and took Loki by the hand, helped him up and covered him with the blanket again, after the guards released Loki.
With a glare at the Asgardians in the room, Laufey walked past the guards and towards the big doors, with his son tightly wrapped in his arm. Loki buried his face in his father's shoulder, not daring to look around, and cried quietly. He pressed himself against his father, as he walked with him through the halls and out of the palace. Part of him felt happy, warm, protected, safe and loved. But the other…
Will he ever see Thor again? Will the child be born without a father? Will the Asgardians search for them?
"I loved him…I really did…" he said more to himself.
Laufey looked down at his son.
"Never trust Asgardians, they aren't good for you…they never were…" Laufey mumbled.
"I'm so sorry this happened to you. I should have protected you, I should have-"
"No! No I should have fought, I could have helped you. It's my entire fault." Loki apologized.
"Loki, don't say that…It wasn't your fault." Laufey assured. "From this day, I will protect you better. They won't ever dare to touch you again, my son." Laufey said and held his son closer.
Loki glanced at the golden palace one more time, internally saying goodbye to Thor and Frigga, before they went back to Jotunheim.
"Wait! Loki!" Thor shouted and wanted to go after them, but Odin laid his arm on his shoulder to stop him. Thor looked at his father with a questioning look, but Odin only shook his head.
"Let them go…" he whispered.
"B-But…What about Loki?!" Thor almost begged, not wanting to let his beloved go.
"It's better like this." Odin said and with that, the conversation was over. Thor knew better than question his father.
He watched helplessly as the two Jotuns disappeared through the golden doors and out of his sight.
"Loki…" he breathed, already feeling his heart ache with the disappearance of the beautiful Jotun.
He now saw his mistakes before him. He should have never let it come that far…He should have protected Loki. He shouldn't have questioned Loki in the first place. Loki never did anything to harm the prince, he never tried. He wasn't the monster everybody saw in him, but now it was too late…
Now Loki was gone…
"I'm sorry, I love you…" he whispered.
A/N: Surprise! Didn't think Laufey would come back, right?
(I didn't think of that either, but it turned out this way and I'm proud of it)
Hope you liked it
(and sorry for the long wait again ^^;)
