Chapter 9: The new warrior
A/N: Hey guys! This might have been uploaded during the weekend, but I assure you I decided to start this chap early in Wednesday, March 5 and I'm working typing this a/n at 10:09 because I felt like making my best work on this chap so enjoy! I hope it's good :)
It was all morning at the monastery. The X-Scaper was peaceful: Team Stax were sleeping in their beds, Mookee was quietly learning a new recipe, and outside Team Tiro was practicing early, being overseen by Master Boaddai.
Suddenly, Fraysee, Mookee's uncle, knocked at the X-Scaper's door. Mookee heard him and called, "I'll be right there in just a minute!" He stored the cookbook and opened the X-Scaper door using the pilot controls in the front of the X-Scaper. Fraysee walked in.
"Today I'll be leaving, Mookee, as hard as that might be to bear, but I'll come back by this month or perhaps April. Just take care of your X-Scaper. You don't have to miss me." Fraysee smiled as he hugged Mookee. Mookee hugged him back.
Mookee felt sad, as tears swelled up his eyes. But he wiped them off. "Ok, take care of your ship as well!" He was chipper again, and waved bye to his uncle as Fraysee exited the X-Scaper and set off on an X-Scaper of his own. Mookee watched from a distance.
"I'm not sure what I'm feeling right now, but it seems like it's time to see what will happen in the future." Mookee said thoughtfully. "That new girl will be coming, to be trained by Ky's dad. Hmm... I wonder if Ky and her will get along. I also wonder if Ky will be jealous." Mookee then opened the doors of everyone's rooms. "Rise and shine! It's 8:00 A.M.!" Team Stax was startled to hear Mookee's voice while they still slept, but they woke up and dressed.
"I'll be making something new today for you guys!" Mookee went to the kitchen to start cooking, as Team Stax went to the table for breakfast.
"Hm, I wonder if Mookee will actually MAKE something edible today!" Boomer said, making Ky and Maya chuckle. They waited for awhile until breakfast was made.
"Well," Mookee said, holding a covered plate as he headed to the table, "I actually made crabs and rice, just like the cookbook showed me!" He set the plate down, and uncovered it. Inside there were three dishes of crabs and rice for Team Stax to enjoy.
"Wow, Mookee, you totally surprised us today!" Ky said. The team started eating. Suddenly, a hologram of Master Boaddai appeared. The team got closer to listen.
"Listen warriors, the Redakai now have a plan. You will find where the prism kairu has been moved and get it back from the Radikor. Then, you'll take as much prism kairu as you can, and bring it all to the monastery. After that, we'll figure out how to use the kairu ourselves to stop Lokar from ruling the universe, and Lokar will never be able to give us any trouble again. This quest will take you a long time, so use your time well and pack some provisions so you won't run out of food. And Maya and Boomer, this was the quest I was talking about while Ky was gone to save the world a few days ago." Maya and Boomer gasped.
"So Master B, you're not saying that we'll have to do this all by ourselves, right? Now with that new kairu, I'm not sure if we will be able to defeat them! It's a kairu even I can't control!" Maya stated. Master B understood her, so he nodded, but said:
"That is where you'll be using your inner kairu. Now, you're not going out right now, but after you're done eating breakfast, come out to train so you can prepare for your quest, meet Master Connor's new student, pack up, and embark on your quest. And one more thing. Study the prism kairu if you can: take notes on it and learn how it works, because without you, Team Stax, the world is doomed to be in Lokar's hands forever!" And with that, Master B disappeared. Team Stax and Mookee exchanged worried glances at each other.
Boomer broke the silence and spoke up. "Wow, that's a HUGE responsibility in our hands, guys!" Ky nodded.
"And there's only so much left until we have to leave for a few days. ... or whatever much time it takes to complete this quest." Ky said. Maya sighed. "I'll sure be missing this place." She said.
"Guys, can I tag along?" Mookee asked.
"Mookee, for your own safety, I think it's best if we leave you at the monastery. We don't want you to get hurt." Maya explained, crouching down on one knee so she looked at Mookee face to face.
"And Mookee," Boomer added, "we'll promise you we will definitely take care of the X-Scaper."
"Oh, well..." Mookee and Team Stax got off the X-Scaper. Team Stax started training right away, while Mookee cleaned and polished the X-Scaper, and made adjustments.
Around noon, Connor Stax finally showed up with the new girl. But she wasn't that visible, since she hid behind Connor Stax- no- Master Connor for her. But she finally showed herself up. She was wearing a brown training uniform just like Team Tiro, and black training boots. Her hair was brown and wavy, her skin was a light shade of peach and her eyes were blue. ( A/N: Now that's a simple description!)
"Good morning, Team Stax and Team Tiro! May I present to you my new student, Marina!" Marina smiled, trying to avoid showing her teeth.
"Hi..." she said in her quiet voice, but she quickly hid behind Master Connor after realizing the awkwardness of the moment.
"Don't be shy, as soon as you meet them you'll be fine. First, meet the tall boy with black hair and a blue jacket. His name is Ky." Master Connor whispered to his student. Marina nodded and walked up to Ky.
"Hello." Marina said to Ky. Ky smiled and shook hands with her.
"Hello, and welcome to the Monastery! My name is Ky, and Master Connor is actually my dad." Marina raised an eyebrow. "He is?" Ky nodded. "Wow." Marina replied. She looked at the blue- haired girl and the blond boy with a red bandana. They both smiled back at her.
"And the one with the blue hair is Maya. We call her My for short." Ky explained. "Say hi, Maya!"
"Hi Marina, I hope you'll like your time at the monastery as a student." Maya said.
"And now, the tall boy with the blond hair is Boomer. Don't be scared if he looks tough, he's actually pretty funny!" Ky said.
"Hey, Marina!" Boomer greeted. "Nice to meet you. You can call me Boom, it's what pretty much almost everyone calls me." Marina and Boomer shook hands.
"The three of us are Team Stax!" Ky announced. "Team Stax? Excuse me if it's a rude question, but where did Stax come from?" Marina asked.
"No, it's not a rude question at all, but Stax came because Ky is our leader, and his last name is Stax, as well as his dad's." Maya replied. Gia walked over to Marina.
"So, you're a warrior, eh? You don't look that strong, to be honest." Gia said. It made Marina mad, but she didn't show it. Instead, Marina asked "How?". Gia grinned.
"Well, when we train, we'll find out. My name is Gia. I'm the leader of Team Tiro." Gia said. "The one with the red uniform is Apex. The one with the blue uniform is Balistar."
Marina shook hands with both boys, and then started training. Marina, Balistar, and Gia were sparring, and Apex was practicing moves. Balistar and Gia were pretty rough. They clashed, blocking their attacks and aiming them at each other, sometimes trying to get behind each other to launch a surprise attack. Gia noticed Marina wasn't participating, so she tried to aim a kick at her face. Marina got startled and dodged the attack in fear.
"OUT!" Gia shouted. "Go train with Apex. You're too much of a scaredy cat." Marina separated herself from Balistar and Gia, who continued to spar fiercely. "Who does that Gia think she is?", Marina thought. She went to where Apex was practicing. Apex noticed her and greeted her. "Hello, wanna practice with me?" She nodded. Apex was taking it lightly at first on her, letting her hit him a few times. But then she started to gain confidence, which made him go a bit rougher on her.
Gia noticed them sparring from afar, so she ran over to Marina and tried to hit her once more. Marina blocked her attack. Gia smiled at her. "Now I see. Sorry if I was rude." Gia apologized. "It's ok, I see why you did that now." Marina said. Then Balistar joined in. The four sparred together, Gia and Marina being the ones who won the 2 v. 2 match.
Later that day, it was time for Team Stax to go on their quest. As they hugged everyone goodbye, Ky approached his father and said, "Hey, dad, will you promise to talk to me time to time through my X-Com?". His father nodded. "I will. Now go on your quest. I know that you'll make it, and that's why I'm proud of you." Ky smiled and hugged his father. Boaddai mentioned Ky to come with him. Ky followed.
"What is it, Master B?".
"Well Ky, your punishment is... no using Metanoid during your quest. Only Direwolf." Ky gasped.
"But without Metanoid, how will I fare in battle?".
"You'll learn to be more flexible with other monsters. Now go to the X-Scaper." Ky nodded, and got inside the X-Scaper.
"Remember, TAKE CARE OF THAT SHIP!" Mookee shouted as the engines roared and lifted the X-Scaper off the ground. The door opened. "We will!" Boomer shouted back. The door closed again, and the X-Scaper flew away as everyone waved goodbye. Maya looked from her bedroom window at everyone.
"I'll miss them dearly." She thought.
A/N: End of chapter! Next chapter the team will face themselves to one of the Radikor in a tricky battle! And now for the much-needed a/n:
