Chapter 13: Facing Zair

It was morning. Ky got out of his bed and stretched his arms upward, yawning. He put his arms down. "Good morning, Boom." Boomer was still snoring. Suddenly he rolled over to the side of the bed and fell down.

"OUCH!" Boomer said. Ky looked concerned. "Boomer, you ok?" Boomer nodded. "Yep buddy, I'm fine. I just fell off my bed, that's all." Boomer stood up.

As soon as the boys got dressed, Ky knocked on Maya's door. "My, wakey wakey!" Maya opened her bedroom door. She yawned, coverinng her mouth.

"Oh, hey guys. Just let me get dressed and I'll make breakfast." Maya said.

Everyone was now eating breakfast. Suddenly, Master Boaddai appeared in a hologram. Boomer wiped his mouth with a napkin. "Good morning, Master B."

"Good morning, Boomer. Now, how is your quest going along?"

"Well, we found out that the Radikor are being controlled by a type of black kairu, which is actually Lokar himself, so we called it the manipulation kairu." Ky explained.

"I see. Continue." Master Boaddai payed attention. Ky continued: "And recently we've encountered Zane, who defeated us in a battle and damaged the X-Scaper."

"Stop. How bad was the damage?" Master Boaddai asked. "Well, it got scratches and some of the paint scraped off." Master Boaddai sighed in relief.

"Make sure to take care of the ship, and be alert. The Radikor are more powerful than ever, it seems." Master Boaddai disappeared.

Everyone finished breakfast, and Ky and Maya talked while Boomer piloted the ship around Greenland to see if they could find the Radikor."

The Radikor were turning some Prism Kairu into Shadow Kairu by focusing their auras on it. They had converted a handful of the energy when Lokar said to Zair: "I feel like Team Stax is going to be here any moment. Please make them go away." He requested. Zair nodded. "I will." She said outloud. She stopped focusing her aura and left.

When she saw Team Stax's X-Scaper, she hid. She looked behind. She saw Ky come out.

"It's Ky." She thought. Maya came out with Boomer behind her. "And those are his teammates."

The team was looking around for something, unknown to Zair. But she figured it could be the Prism Kairu. Zair hid behind something else, keeping up with the team.

As she watched them trying to find the Prism Kairu's location, she focused on Ky.

"I wish I can think about him and not get my thoughts heard by Lokar." She thought.

"What thoughts?" Lokar asked. Zair gulped. "None! I was just um, thinking nonsense." She told him.

"Very well then..." Lokar said. Zair got out of her hiding spot, and got close to Team Stax. They had not noticed her. She smirked. She focused her aura on them.

Suddenly, Team Stax heard the ground cracking behind them, and they were blasted off. "WOAH!" They shouted. Zair laughed.

"Hello, Team Stax. You're not getting the Prism Kairu from us, since we need it to make Shadow Kairu, which will kick your butt sooner or later. Kairu Challenge!"

Team Stax put their fists together and bowed down. "Challenge Accepted." Ky said. The sky turned blue. Zair got out her X-Reader.

"Grappler!" She called out. She absorbed energy as she became Grappler. "Platinum Grappler!" Grappler called out. Platinum Grappler's marks were silver instead of blue-green, and it's eyes were silver. It also had armor.

"What? Platinum Grappler?!" Maya asked. Her voice was shaky.

"Yes, I have that monster. Converting Prism Kairu to Shadow Kairu actually gave me it. Now deal with it, Team Stax!" Grappler said. Ky smirked.

"I have something to counter that. Direwolf!" Ky called out. He absorbed energy, and became Direwolf.

"Uh oh. I haven't battled that monster before." Zair thought. "It's easy." Lokar said in her head.

"What's wrong, Ky? Where's Metanoid?" Grappler said. Direwolf growled. "You don't need to know that, Zair. Plasma Claw!" Direwolf called out. It's paw glowed red, and Direwolf slashed the air, releasing the attack. Grappler dodged it easily.

"Now be careful with this one." Zair thought. "Try dodging this one, Ky. Cyclonic Attack!" Grappler summoned the attack from her hands as it spiraled through, hitting all three members of Team Stax. The attack washed away, and Grappler laughed. Maya stood up.

"Now you got my nerves, Zair! Harrier!" Maya called out. She absorbed energy and transformed into Harrier. "Screech Whirlwind!" She flew up, casting the attack from the sky. Grappler got hit, landing in bad shape.

"Great, use one of my X-Readers." Lokar said in her head. Grappler stood up.

"Ice Tomb!" Grappler called out, raising her hands above her head. The ice hit Team Stax. Boomer stood up slowly, limping. "Cleansing Strike! Righteous Light! Righteous Strike!" Boomer called out. The attack hit Grappler. Grappler slowly got up. "Crackshot!" The attack hit everywhere, knocking out Team Stax.

The battle ended as the sky turned back to normal. "I win this one, Team Stax." Grappler changed back into Zair. Zair ran back to her teammates. Team Stax groaned as they stood up. Crackshot had piled them up in a stack, making them uncomfortable.

"It doesn't matter if we didn't win the battle. We'll follow Zair to the Prism Kairu, and save some of it." Ky said. Maya and Boomer nodded.
