Chapter 20

Patrick woke up to cold sheets beside him and his mind went into a tailspin. He jumped out of bed and checked the bathroom before hurrying into the living room. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw her sitting at the table.

She turned around and smiled. "Good morning," she greeted. Her smile turned into a frown at his demeanor. "What's wrong?"

He walked over to her and sat down. "I thought something happened when I didn't see you this morning."

She put her hand over his. "I get it. It's going to take a while to get used to normal again. I'm right here Patrick."

He let out a laugh. "I'm being ridiculous."

"You're being cautious and you have every right to be. There's something I need to tell you," she started.

"What?" he asked.

"Last night I-

His phone rang and he reluctantly answered. She heard him say that he would be at the hospital shortly. He hung up and rubbed his forehead.

"I'm needed for a surgery. Once I'm done, I'll get Emma and it's going to be the three of us. I promise," he said.

She nodded her head. "Go and be the brilliant doctor I know you to be."

He left 30 minutes later and Robin flipped her phone open. She dialed Sonny's.

"Corinthos," he greeted.

"Hi Sonny," she said.

He leaned back in his chair. "Hi. I wasn't expecting to hear from you today."

"Well, Patrick had to go to the hospital. Um, mind if I come over?"

"You don't have to ask. I'll send Max to pick you up," he said and hung up.

Robin walked into Sonny's where he was waiting for her on the couch. She sat next to him propping her feet up.

"What's going on?" he asked.

She showed him the text and watched Sonny's face contort into disgust. "That bastard has to die. I'll get my people on it."

"Thanks. I just want to get him out of our lives," she said. "Anyway, where is Brenda?"

"Metrocourt. We figured it was best for her," he answered.

She chuckled. "Speaking of people...I thought I would have seen Jason by now."

Sonny sighed and grabbed her hands. "Sweetheart, Jason...he died."

Robin blinked. "What?"

Sonny's head hung low. "He died. He was shot in the back by Caesar."

Robin started to cry. "That isn't right. He's supposed to be here."

Sonny opened his arm up to her and she slid in. He kissed the side of her head. "I know." She cried until she ran out of tears.

She eventually moved out of his embrace and wiped her eyes. "How's Sam?"

"She's good. She and Danny."

"Danny?" she asked.

He nodded. "Sweet kid. Tough little guy. Daniel Edward Morgan."

"Hopefully I'll get to see him soon," she said.

"Yeah, I'm sure Sam would love it," he said.

"Let's switch subjects. I'm seeing Emma tonight. I can't wait to see her," she beamed.

"When you see her, nothing else is going to matter. Not Jerry. Not Caesar. You forget about them for a while."

"Ok. I do need to check in with my mom though." She went to the balcony.

Anna was in her office when she saw Robin's number on the screen. "Hello baby."

"Hi. I decided to check on you. I also wanted to see if you've heard anything on dad," she said.

"There's been no change as far as I know. Tell you what, I'll call and let you know as soon as possible."

"Thanks. I can't believe he was right in front of me and I couldn't remember," Robin said.

"It's not your fault Robin and Robert wouldn't want you blaming yourself."

"I know but it doesn't make the guilt any easier. I just want to know if he's okay."

"I'm sure he is," Anna replied.

"I love you mom."

"I love you too."

That night...

Patrick held Emma in his arms. "Baby, there is something I need to tell you."

"Is it something bad?"

"No. It's about mommy. Remember how we thought mommy was in heaven. Emma, she's not. Mommy is alive."

"She came back from heaven," she said.

"No. Somebody had mommy but they gave her back to us. Do you want to see her?"

Emma nodded her head yes. Robin came from the kitchen and walked cautiously to them.

Emma jumped off Patrick's lap and ran to Robin. She picked her daughter up twirling her around. "Mommy's here baby. Mommy's here."
