Chapter 18: Chemical Mania Part 1

A/N: GOD! I haven't updated in forever. Now let's fix that:

The sound of air blowing against snow was both peaceful and- cold... Silv and Zane were heading towards Techris and Zair to report to Lokar. The chilly wind whipped their hair and clothes as they struggled to walk.

Silv looked at Zane. "Do you forgive me for losing the kairu yesterday?" Her breath was visible as she spoke.

Zane looked back at her, then grinned. "Of course."

Silv looked forward. "Why is he forgiving me?"

As if Zane had heard her, he said: "Don't be confused... you'll get a reward later, regardless. On one condition."

Silv looked at Zane. "What condition?"

"Flatter me."

Silv smiled. "Oh, sure- greatest Kairu Warrior." She said. "Ky is nothing compared to you. You're handsome. You're the most powerful in the universe, you're-"

As Silv continued to flatter him, Zane was grinning. He put a hand over her mouth.

"I think that's enough... let's get to Lokar." Zane said.

"Gee-whiz... his voice is sexy..." Silv thought.

There was no sight of anyone around- no matter how much Silv and Zane walked. The snow falling from the sky obstructed their vision, and the wind was getting stronger. Squinting your eyes didn't help to see.

Silv stopped. "One more step and I'm gonna die."

"Zane, there's no use in walking. They're probably searching for us. We just have to stay-"

Zane grabbed her arm, pulling her forward. "Keep walking." Zane said.

"Stubborn." Silv thought.

As they kept walking, a sound was heard in the distance. It sounded like a dying walrus that could be heard from miles away. Silv spun around, looking in the distance.

Zane made a "huh?" sound, stopping to look at where Silv was looking.

"Can you hear that noise?" Silv said.

"Yes- it's Techris." Zane answered. Silv looked at him. "That's how he shouts? Like a dying walrus?"

"I don't know why you think he sounds like one. He sounds fine to me." Zane said.

Two shapes in the distance were getting closer- a short one, and a tall, muscular one.

"It's them." Zane stated. He ran towards them.

"Wait up!" Silv shouted. She followed Zane.

As they got closer, it looked like Zair and Techris. Zane and Silv finally reached them, stopping. Zair and Techris were trying to catch their breath. They kneeled down on the ground.

"Why were you guys running?" Silv asked. Techris looked at her.

"Lokar wants to-" He coughed, paused to catch his breath, and continued. "He wants to tell you guys about this certain Prism Kairu stash. It's somewhere in Germany." Techris said.

"And we had come over here from miles away, so yeah- we're tired." Zair said. She and Techris stood up.

"You guys should have flied." Zane said.

"We did!" Zair stated. "Anyways, here's Lokar." She closed her eyes, and a projection of Lokar appeared in front of them.

"Well, my E-Teens, it seems that we finally have a chance to triumph against Team Stax." Lokar said. The E-Teens laughed.

"One of the prizes we get easily is a new base. The other- is an easy energy grab." The hologram of Lokar looked at Zair. "Zair! I want you to get this deposit."

Zair bowed. "Yes Master."

The hologram ended, and Zair took off to get the deposit.

The X-Scaper was flying through the sky- and a guy and a girl were shouting something- well, inaudible. Because it was ear-shattering.

"GO BOOMER, GO BOOMER, GO BOOMER!" It was repeated inside, Ky and Maya cheering Boomer on.

Boomer swallowed. "Uh, guys, I'm not sure I can do this..." Boomer was sitting at the controls, flying the X-Scaper. He looked ahead at the sky. That made him wish he had something to hold on for his life other than the controls.

"It's ok, you're great at flying this. You should be able to do it." Maya said.

Boomer sighed. "Ok. I can do this. Now hold on." Ky and Maya grabbed hold of Boomer's arms. Boomer looked at them. "Not on THAT!"

Ky grinned. "It's to make it more... challenging."

"Fine." Boomer said. He then concentrated.

The X-Scaper was falling down on it's nose at a great speed. Everyone shouted- Ky and Maya because of excitement, Boomer because of nervousness. The X-Scaper's engines roared, adding even more noise to the shouting.

"Now spin the X-Scaper around!" Ky shouted loudly.

The X-Scaper spun as it nose-dived, making everyone dizzy. It was getting closer to the ground, about to crash. Boomer did not want the plane to end up like pancakes.

"Oh gosh, oh gosh, OH GOSH!" The plane jolted up, preventing it from reaching the ground and crashing. Boomer sighed with relief, at the cost of Ky and Maya's annoyance.

"Boomer, you didn't even brush the ground!" Ky said.

"Sorry guys." Boomer said in a pouting tone.

"Well, at least we had the biggest adrenaline rush in our lives!" Maya said.

Ky pumped his fist. "You bet we did!"

"Guys, there's a new kairu deposit in Germany." Boomer said.

"Germany? We haven't gone there before." Maya said. She let go of Boomer's arm.

"And it's a populated country. We need to look normal, or we're gonna get in trouble." Ky stated.

Maya nodded. "You got that, Ky."

"I'm gonna fly us there." Boomer said.

Zair looked at the big, deserted-looking factory building in front of her, then at her X-Reader.

"This is the place." She stored her X-Reader, and walked up the steps leading to the entrance.

The sky was grey, making the place seem even more dull. Zair reached the entrance and knocked on the door.

"No one's here. Good." She took a few steps back. "Lightning Strike!"

BOOM! A big hole was made on the door, big enough for Zair to pass. She ducked under it.

Inside, there was a series of controllers taped to a wall as well as blueprints. There was a few more doors leading to other rooms. In the center, there was a big metal table, and a desk full of tools beside it.

"The kairu doesn't seem to be here." Zair walked around. There was nothing important.

"Maybe if I look at these blueprints, I can-" Zair walked over a sharp thing- it stung her toe. "OW!"

Zair looked down. It was a nail attached to a diary of some sort- Zair picked it up.

"Hmmm..." She flipped through the pages. They contained sketches of machines designed to hold something.

She encountered an entry. Zair stopped to read:

May 7th

I must flee the labratory. I sense that something not good is going to happen in the future. There will be a strange- imbalance, of sorts. An imbalance of kairu. I must help in any way I can, to stop it.

"Kairu?" Zair thought.

It was apparently the last journal entry, since nothing had been written after that.

When did this person- probably dead- know about Kairu?

"Guys, the kairu is inside." Maya stated.

Team Stax was standing outside the entrance. A big hole had been made by someone, and it looked like it was recently made.

Ky looked at Maya. "Any specific place? This place is quite big, you know."

Maya closed her eyes. Her mind seemed to look inside: there was a main room and three rooms, including a big escape door, and of course- a conveyor belt in the upper part of the factory.

The prism kairu was- resting in the conveyor belt! She could feel the glowing energy.

Maya opened her eyes. "Follow me."

Team Stax got inside. It was full of blueprints and controllers in the walls and a few other things that didn't look typical of a factory.

"Ok, we need to go up- but there's no stairs." Maya said.

"Maybe the stairs are in-" Boomer looked around. There were 3 doors. "In that door!" He pointed to the door in the middle.

"Let's go." Ky said. The Team took a step forward-

"I think you're going the wrong way AND no. You're not getting this kairu stash. Lightning Spear!"

Ky, Maya, and Boomer turned around. A big spear rushed quickly towards them! They had no time to dodge- and got hit by the attack. POW!

They smashed against a wall, causing a few bumps and scratches. Maya moaned in pain. Ky groaned, and Boomer stood up, albeit painfully.

"Zair? That's kinda low... where are you?" Boomer asked.

Zair showed herself behind the metal table. She grinned.

"You're also not going anywhere, for your information."

Zair got some chemicals that were resting in a tool table and spread them on the floor. It was stinky, making Team Stax choke, and collapse on the ground.

Maya woke up. Her vision was blurry, and all she could make out was that she was laying on a conveyor belt.

Odds were, that she was strapped to that same conveyor belt. And she was right. She tried to stand up, but some not-so-friendly chains greeted her body and pulled against it, causing even more pain. Maya gave up, and layed herself down again.

Her vision was sharpening out now, and she saw Ky and Boomer strapped to the conveyor as well. They were both unconcious and tied, like her, by chains.

The conveyor belt ran across the upper part of the factory in a circling fashion- it was also slowly moving.

"Ok, so it's moving- that probably means that you're gonna be led to your doom or death or something- so I have to get out. I need Ky and Boomer to wake up though. Especially Boomer- he can break out. He's the strongest!" Maya thought.

She could still talk, so she said: "Ky, Boom, wake UP!"

Ky seemed to hear her. He slowly got up as well- and looked at her. "My..." He started.

"Ky, can you hear me?"

Ky nodded. "... My, hang on." He grabbed the chain holding him from his chest and pulled it with his teeth. It was no use.

"PLASMA ENERGY BLAST!" Ky glowed red, and busted the chain in half, allowing him to sit up. He used his hands to tug at the chain holding his torso and freed himself.

Maya smiled. "Good job!"

Ky gave her a wink and moved towards her. "Now to free you and Boomer." He tugged at Maya's chains and managed to get her out. He picked her up bridal style- which confused Maya.

"Ky..." Ky looked at how he was holding Maya and blushed. "Sorry." Ky set her on the ground.

They both looked at Boomer. "He won't wake up by himself, I guess." Ky said. Maya laughed.

They tugged at Boomer's chains, setting him free. Maya got closer to Boomer. "Boomer... WAKKKKKEEEEEEEE UUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPP!" She used all of her voice strength to shout. Boomer snorted, and fell off the conveyor belt comically.

He looked up at Maya and Ky. "Sorry. I guess I was too comfy in there." That made Ky and Maya laugh.

Ky crossed his arms. "That's ok. But we have to go find Zair."

Maya looked at Ky. "It will take awhile, you know." Ky nodded.

A/N: I'm not a Kya fan, but I've gotta admit: I wanted to bait you guys. Just so you know. Also, this will be the first part, so don't be surprised if this doesn't have a battle: there is a continuation of this chapter, I promise. It's supposed to be important to the storyline.

Maya: Ky... why'd you do that?

Ky: Uh... well, I think I might be a bit too comfortable as friends.

Maya: What do you mean?

Ky: We might be more than just friends... you know.

Maya's eyes widen.

Also, you may notice that my writing has changed a bit: I mean, I used words like POW! and BOOM! to express action. I'm trying not to use the passive voice in writing all the time. Anyways, have a nice week!
