Chapter 25
"What exactly is the plan here?" Britt asked Anna as they continued their trek around the premises. She was growing tired of this walk but she was also anxious. Robin's words replayed over and over again in her head. She would have to choose between two parents who really had no interest in her.
She didn't realize Anna had stopped until she ran into her. Anna whirled around. Her eyes flashed in annoyance at Britt's question.
"Dr. Westbourne, my plan is to find Robert and then if your mother is with him, I will make sure she is behind bars," Anna said and turned around. She walked a few paces and stilled when she heard Britt's next question.
"Are you going to kill her?"
Anna didn't answer right away so Britt asked the question again. She heard Anna say no and that they were wasting time. However, Britt didn't move.
"I need to tell you something. Robin said that one of them is going to end up dead. My mother or Faison. She wanted me to pick. Although Robin seems more than capable of doing the deed herself, I wonder if you will go back on your word and kill either one of them."
Anna barely heard what Britt was saying as she focused on Faison. Hearing the man's name always sent chills up her spine. She wondered why Britt cared so much.
"Why do you care if your mother's accomplice dies?"
She slowly turned facing Britt with a distrustful expression.
"I don't really but he's-he's my father," she answered. Britt could see the shock turn into anger. "I can explain."
Anna blinked. She couldn't have possibly have heard right. Faison had a daughter with that lunatic. Then she remembered Britt's words about Robin. It made sense why Robin said what she said to Britt. In a flash, Anna raised her gun to Britt.
"Did you know about Robin? Did you know the entire time? Have you been lying?" Anna inquired as she cocked her gun.
Britt held out her arms. "I swear I knew nothing about Robin. I didn't know why my mother pushed Patrick in my direction so hard but now I see it might have something to do with you. Please put down the gun."
Anna kept her gun trained on Britt. "Faison has been a thorn in my side for a long time. I will not let his daughter continue to be one in my daughter's."
"Anna, wait," she nearly shouted. "Think about this." Anna saw the genuine fear and lowered her weapon.
"Don't do anything stupid," Anna ordered.
The pair walked in silence until they heard a noise coming from the stables. Anna made sure Britt remained close. She walked in first taking in everything quickly.
"This is the stables. There are only horses in here," Britt whispered. Anna hushed her and continued to search. She walked further and stumbled upon a body near the entrance.
Anna gasped as she saw Robert lying on the ground semi-conscious. "Robert," she breathed out as she hurried to put her gun away and crouch beside him. Her eyes scanned his body for any cuts or bruises.
"Robert, honey, I'm here," she said. She patted his face trying to stir him more. "Robert, it's Anna. Wake up for me luv."
Robert's senses were slowly returning to him. The last thing he remembered was speaking with Jerry. "Robert," he heard.
"Anna," he called out groggily.
"Yes Robert," Anna let out relieved. "It's me." Robert opened his eyes and tried to reach for her. Anna grabbed his hand and kissed his knuckles. "You're going to be alright Robert. We're taking you home."
"We?"
"Yeah. Me, Robin, Patrick with some others. Do you think you can stand?"
"Wait, Robin is here. She can't be here. Jerry…Anna, our little girl-"
Anna shushed him once more. "Robin is okay. She's fine. We need to focus on you." She helped him up and put his arm over her shoulder. It took her a minute to balance Robert's weight. She looked ahead to find Britt no longer there but for a moment her whereabouts didn't matter.
"Work with me," Anna said gently. They walked out of the stables only to be met with laughter.
"You found him after all," Faison said. Anna glared at him. Faison looked between Anna and Robert with some disgust. "I could have let him die but I didn't."
"How thoughtful of you," Anna shot back. "Get out of my way."
Faison took a step forward but Anna didn't move. She couldn't move if she wanted to. He was only inches from them.
"Stay back," Anna warned.
"Anna, you don't need to be afraid of me. I love you," he pleaded. Anna growled a little after hearing his proclamation of affection.
Anna decided to steer this conversation in another direction. "Where is Britt? What did you do with her?"
Faison rolled his eyes. "Britta. She was Liesel's idea. She is of no importance."
"You don't care about your own daughter," Anna responded.
"What use is she to me?" he questioned. "In fact, how did you know? Did Liesel tell you?"
"Britt told me and I think I feel sorry for her. She has you for a father," Anna shot back. Her arms were growing heavy as Robert's weight started to drop.
Faison smirked. "It is I who feels sorry for you. Robin is such a spirited young girl. I would hate for something to happen. I could at least give you the chance for one more goodbye."
"What have you done with her?" Anna questioned.
"It is what she will do to you. That is the question you must ask once Jerry gets his hands on her. It's only a matter of time. And you Anna will be so distraught, you will have no choice but to seek comfort from me."
"Delusional," Anna hissed.
"No. I'm patient."
Meanwhile, Robin was frantically looking for Patrick, Nikolas and Jax. She lost them somehow in the midst of searching more rooms and her senses were at an all-time high.
She went through one door and stopped immediately.
"Hello Robin. Lovely to see you again," Jerry said with a smile on his face.
"I'm going to kill you," Robin said.
