Chapter 23: The World is infected by Shadow! Zombie- Shadow Attack!

Silvolf: Well it was to incapacitate him but let's not forget that she "was" only starting to develop it. Her inner kairu got out of control there.

"Uhh... I'm so BORED! Out of my MIND!" A red haired- teenage girl with pink jean shorts and a white shirt stood in the sand, barefoot, staring at the ocean. Her parents and her younger brother played beach voleyball a distance from her.

As she stared at the ocean she was calm, but for some reason the ocean faded to dark purple. As she wondered why, she looked at the sky. It was black, and the weather was getting stormy.

Her eyes widened. The girls parents and brother stopped their game to look. Everyone else that was in the beach also panicked.

The girl looked down to see the sand turned black. She lifted one foot, then the other, and started to run towards her parents. Everyone in the beach followed suit to go away.

The black sand spreaded, oozing towards the city. Beach balls, towels, and umbrellas burned away as the black sand had reached, slowly affecting the landscape.

Soon, everything on the beach was gone, replaced by a grim- looking evironment.

As everyone stared down at what had happened- two dead warriors lying on the ground, nobody had noticed the Shadow Kairu spreading, until Maya felt a strange but evil presence get near them. The feeling soon developed into a headache. Maya knelt down, and moaned.

Everyone stared at Maya. "Maya!" Boomer slowly helped her up. "What happ-"

"It's the... SHADOW KAIRU! It's getting near here..." Maya looked down. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news sometimes." She sighed.

Ky also felt this strange presence and turned around. He and the others ran outside, to find a withered, drained sky, and some of the factory ceiling already crumpling like paper.

"Well, I guess it's our time to join Zane." Silv said. She and Zair left, leaving the scene.

An earthquake quickly followed, with the factory's walls crushing down on everything inside. Everyone tried to stabilize themselves, but eventually fell. The earthquake shook them, the remains of the factory, and slowly the land below them was somehow disappearing too.

"Everyone, hold tight!" Ky said.

They all held on to Ky, and Ky, with all his effort, managed to somehow establish a crouching position. "JET-" He fell to his side again, as well as the others, and struggled to get up.

"This eathquake's magnitude is HUGE!" Balistar shouted.

Everything around them suddenly turned black and empty. The earthquake settled.

"WHAT THE-"

"Don't even try finishing that sentence!" Maya interrupted Boomer. Her voice made an echo.

"Mookee was left behind in the ship.. I hope he's ok." Apex said, his voice echoing as well.

"We seem to be trapped in some sort of illusion." Boaddai said. He tried to get up, but as he did the non-visible ground sank in, making everyone fall. As they landed the ground vibrated.

"A very solid one at that." Connor said.

"Oh, poor guardians of the 'kairu...'" Lokar chuckled, his voice resonating. "when will you ever understand."

A tall shadow appeared, grabbing something. It turned out to be Silv, with Mookee in her hands. "Here's your little punk!" She threw him to the ground. Mookee landed on top of Gia.

Zair and Zane also appeared. "Nowhere to hide, Team Stax?" Zane teased.

Techris moaned, opening his eyes. He stared at the metal wall near him, and turned his head to the side. As he did, he felt like he was floating in the air.

"Why do I feel so light-headed?" This question seemed to echo, but wasn't heard by anyone.

He attempted to get up, but as he did, he passed THROUGH the metal wall.

"Ok... what?!" He said once more, his voice echoing.

He could see through the wall as well, and noticed a girl, laying on the ground.

"She doesn't seem to be alive." Techris said.

The girl's eyes fluttered open, and looked at Techris. She immediately stood up, but was also surprised when she passed the wall. She looked at the wall, then to him, and rushed over to him.

"OH MY GOSH, YOU'RE ALIVE!" Her voice echoed as well, and she hugged him, but her arms passed right through him.

"What?!" She was shocked. Techris glared at her. "Ok, WHO ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU-"

"I'm Marina. You do remember me, don't you?" She asked, standing normally.

Techris's glare softened. "No... but."

"But?"

"You're pretty cute." Techris said.

"Gosh... not again." Marina's head hanged low as she sighed. She got away from him. "You know what, I think we're ghosts."

Techris backed up a little. "So... I'm ... dead." He stared at her in disbelief.

"Must be sad not knowing why you died." Marina said. "I'll explain. Listen."

A/N: Little excerpt from chap 23:

"Borealis Blast!" Boomer shouted, releasing the attack. It circled around them. The illusion disappeared along with Lokar and his team. The rest landed safely on the ground.

"Weird... I feel like there's a ghost near us, guys..." Maya said.

Ky looked at Maya. "Marina... Techris..."

"OH GOD, THEIR GHOSTS ARE HAUNTING US! RUN!" Apex immediately got up and ran, but didn't get too far as Gia grabbed his shirt.

"Going anywhere, chicken?" Gia asked.
