Chapter 30
Two days later, Robert was sitting in the office of the WSB director. Whoever the director was, was taking his sweet time getting there. Robert waited another fifteen minutes before the door opened.
Robert didn't have to turn around to recognize the voice right away. "Robert Scorpio."
"Victor Cassadine," Robert said getting out of his seat. "You're the director now. How did you pull that off?" he asked in disbelief. He had enough dealings with the Cassadines to last him two lifetimes.
"How I got here isn't important. What is important is the trouble your daughter is in and she has quite a record. Impressive by Cassadine standards," Victor said.
"I've read where your daughter's death was faked by CaesarFaison who enlisted the help of a Jerry Jacks and Liesl Obrecht to hide Robin. Under Jerry's tutelage, Robin has indeed piled up several bodies and some were international criminals. Others were probably some people Mr. Jacks was not too particularly fond of. More recently, she nearly killed a Robert Franco while also wounding Lucas Lorenzo Spencer," he said.
Victor let a smirk grace his features. "I must say that any woman who can take on a Spencer deserves a medal not a prison sentence in my book."
Robert bristled but remained silent.
"I am willing to make a deal with Dr. Scorpio-Drake if she wants to stay with her family," Victor said.
"What's the deal?" Robert asked warily.
"Work for me. It will be a temporary assignment," he answered.
"Are you insane?" Robert asked. "Robin-
"Has all the makings of an incredible spy. Trust me when I say that I could use someone with her newfound skills but it's her medical skills I'm more interested in."
Robert arched an eyebrow. "Before I say anything else about your proposal, what happens with Faison and Obrecht?"
Victor sighed. Faison was a nuisance but Liesl was the one who got away. He also knew he couldn't go lenient on Liesl without raising suspicion. His plan would never work.
"Maximum security prisons. No one can escape," Victor said.
"I've heard that before and seen with my own eyes that lunatic escape from his cell. I want him isolation," Robert argued.
"And Obrecht?"
"Lock her up and throw away the key. She's in love with that nut and for the life of me I don't understand that."
He had a point on that front. He would give into Robert's demands for now.
"Fine. Now, are you ready to hear what I have proposed in more detail?"
Robert nodded his head yes and Victor went onto explain the details. As he explained what he wanted, Robert felt ill. Reviving the Cassadines for them to unleash more chaos was not what he had in mind. It was either this or have Robin spend time in jail.
He knew once he returned home, Anna would have his head.
Robert found himself on the receiving end of two vocal protests about Victor's deal. All he could do was look into Robin's hard eyes to see she was considering this proposal.
"Stop," Robin said. Patrick and Anna turned as one.
"How do we know this is even real? This could be a trap," she said. Robert pulled out a dvd from bag and handed it to her. She put it in and all of them saw Jason's frozen body lying on a slab.
"This is crazy. Victor could have doctored this," Anna argued.
"Possibly but why dangle Jason in front of Robin to ensure her cooperation," Robert said. "It's up to Robin. She has to decide what path to take."
Robin looked between her parents and husband. "I need to talk to Patrick."
"Okay sweetheart, we'll be in the back," Anna said.
Patrick waited for a minute before speaking. "You're going to do this."
"If it means not going to prison, yes but we do this my way."
"Meaning?"
"You, me and Sam," she answered. "If this is indeed true I have to tell her. Who am I to stop her from reuniting with her husband? Do you think you can do this with me? I know he isn't your favorite person."
Patrick sat on the chair and leaned forward. "Emma is going to wonder where we're going."
"So that means….
"That means that I'm going with you and I'm not letting you out of my sight for another minute. We just have to worry about Emma. She can stay with Liz perhaps."
"Are you sure because once we dive into this we can't go back?" she asked.
"I'm sure. We're in this together and that is how we'll remain."
