Chapter Eight
Tonight Hanna a special dinner date for all the couples. To celebrate her one year anniversary with Caleb. The girls don't know that they are in for one hell of a ride.
"So, what dress are you going to wear to Hanna's Dinner date thing," Aria asked Spencer as she applied her eyeshadow.
"I don't know, probably something simple why what are you wearing?" Spencer inquired as she laid on Aria's bed with her legs up and crossed behind her flipping though InTouch weekly.
"I still have to decided, but I narrowed it down to the two dresses it's either the blue strapless sweetheart neckline dress which I got from Forever 21 two weeks ago, with Hanna of course or my black Burberry strapless dress with costs a fortune," Aria explained.
"Wow, someone's already thinking of her dresses, I haven't chosen one yet. By the way go with the Forever 21 dress kept it classy okay. Remember this is Hanna's night you don't want to look then her. Believe me," Spencer responded.
Spencer, Toby, Emily; Maya; Aria and Jason finally arrived.
"Okay so is there anything you need help with?" Spencer asked; as the guys sat on the table as Aria, Emily Maya and Spencer helped her in the kitchen.
Hanna just stood there and didn't say anything to Spencer, because as far as she's concerned there friendship was over.
"Hanna!" Spencer shouted.
"What Spencer, what do you want?" She hissed back.
"What did I do to get you this upset at me?" She inquried.
"Oh, I think you know what you've done," She replied; setting the salad on the island of her kitchen.
Hanna picked up the wine that sat on the kitchen counter and took a sip.
"Han, I don't know what you're talking about?" She said. Hanna moved to the table were the guys sat, she kissed Caleb on the cheek and sat next to him. She wore her pink strapless dress, that hugged her curves.
"Hanna this isn't over, I need to know what I did to you to make you hate me?" She inquired.
Hanna didn't answer instead she shot down a few glasses of wine until Emily took the last one from her.
"What did Spencer do to you?" Aria asked
"So you know that day were you and I got into... into a ffightt, well I... I was on my way home from the bridge and I saw these two fucking making out on a swing, How could you do that to me Spence? I thought we were friends?, but you think it's okay to shove your tongue down my ex-boyfriend's mouth. I wouldn't do that...that to..to you now would I?" She said slurring her words.
Aria, Emily, Maya, Spencer and Toby's face in shock from what Hanna said.
"Spence, why?" Emily asked upset that her friend would do something like that.
"It was a mistake, I was just caught up in the moment, it didn't mean anything," Spencer told Hanna.
"I'm sorry," She softly said.
"A little too late for that," Hanna scoffed.
"Spencer, a kiss always means something," Hanna replied.
Aria said. "Remember when it was just us girls on that hot day in July about a year a half ago? It was so much more simple. I still can remember that day exactly. Hanna, you were reading fashion magazines and squealing every time you saw a cute outfit which was basically every ten seconds. And Spencer, you were on your phone looking at photos of your family. It wasn't too long ago, yet somehow, it feels a million mies away...that memory just seems like it was so many years ago."
Flashback:
"Oh my gosh, I have to buy this outfit! It's so cute!" Hana squealed as she was looking through her new fashion magazine. Aria and Spencer looked at her and rolled their eyes.
"Han, that's the tenth time you said that. How many outfits do you need?" Spencer asked.
"Spence, you know I need to buy new clothes for the first day of school. We're going to be juniors. I need to look good," Hanna complained.
"It's July, Han School doesn't start until September. That's two months," Spencer laughed.
"Still, Spence," Hanna said, using her nickname for Spencer, which was chosen because Spencer tutored students in her free time since she was one of the smartest students in school and always got good grades in every class.
"I need to look good for Caleb I haven't seen him in a while," Hanna reasoned, referring to her boyfriend, Caleb Rivers.
"Hanna, you just saw Caleb last week. How many times do you need to see him?" Aria laughed from her spot on the floor.
"Aria, I haven't seen Caleb since last week because he's been with his mom for the past few days at the cafe in Montecito," Hanna explained.
"Hanna, I think you can live with a week of not seeing your precious boyfriend," Aria joked.
"Be quiet, Aria. I need to see my boyfriend. What if you couldn't see Jake for a week, huh? Not so pleasant anymore," Hanna said. Aria quickly fell silent.
"Okay, I guess I see your point," Aria said.
"See. It's not so easy being away from you boyfriend. You know, we have to hook you up with someone soon. You've been single for a while now," Hanna said to Spencer. Spencer looked up from her phone.
"Oh, now I remember that day," Brooke recalled. "I told you that I loved Caleb for the first time." She softly spoke.
"Spencer can I talk you to you in the kitchen please," Emily replied sternly.
"Sure," Spencer responded.
The two got up and made there way to Hanna's kitchen.
"How could you do something like that to Hanna and Toby?" Emily shouted quietly.
"Like I told Hanna back there, it was a mistake Em," Spencer replied defending herself.
"You know Toby and Hanna deserve better than this, I can't you'd do that to Hanna and your freaking boyfriend. Spence, this is not acceptable what you did I don't think Hanna or Toby could ever forgive you for. I don't even know who you are anymore, because the Spencer I knew would think twice before doing anything this stupid," Emily assured her walking away upset.
"Wait Em! You can't hate me either," Spencer pleaded.
"I don't hate you, I just dislike you at the moment," She answered grabbing her keys and bag to take Maya home.
"Hanna thanks for having me," Emily said.
"Me too," Aria added as she left too.
Toby left Spencer when she went to the bathroom.
"Where's Toby?" She asked Hanna.
"He left, he's disappointed in you, and I don't blame him," Hanna bitterly responded.
After Emily dropped off Maya at her house, she went over to Toby and pounded on his door until he finally answered.
"What do you what Em?" Toby asked.
"Are you okay Tobes," Emily said; noticing there were boxes scattered all over his loft.
"I think you know Em," He replied.
"Are you going somewhere?"
"Yeah, away from here. Rosewood isn't for me," Toby sourly responded.
"Where are you going?" She repeated as she followed him.
"Do you really think I'd tell you, I know you'd tell Spencer anyway," Toby said.
"Look Toby I know you're hurting, but she's my best-friend, you are my friend too," She reminded him. "If you want to leave after she hurt you. I want stop you," She answered.
"My cousin has a place in New York right now that he's not using anymore, so that's were I'll be for the next couple of months, until I figure things out."
"Okay." She nodded, "What do you need me help packing first?"
Spencer made her way up the stairs to Toby's loft. She called him, he wasn't answering any of her calls. She opened the door with the spare key he had given her, and she stood there just to see an empty apartment. All that was left were pictures of the two of them and a letter.
Spencer,
I suppose you came by to apologize, but instead only found this note. I'm gone. Emily helped me pack things. Don't look for me. I'm not coming back. This last six months with you were the best time of my life. I guess the feelings were only one sided though.
Tears were streaming her face.
It's funny, the only thing I can really think about now is when you just told me he was just a friend, and all the times I believed you. I should have known, that your feelings were still back to us just beening friends. You didn't have to lie and say you loved me though, because that hurt the most believing that you actually loved me. You didn't have to act interested in me, or kiss me in my apartment that day. I would've have been fine without you. Your probably the only girl I'll ever love. Good Luck with your life.
Goodbye.
- Toby
She just sat there on the cold floor of his apartment as she bawled her eyes out. The only guy she loved just left, and wasn't coming back. She choked on a sob. This was all her fault. And she would never get him back.
Review what did you think of this chapter? Will Toby ever forgive and come back to Spencer?
