The gods felt it. The slightest little shift in reality. Something so major yet so insignificantly small that it would go unnoticed to the rest of the world. But they felt it. That little upset was enough to stop there bickering and leave them all in stunned silence, for nothing of this nature had ever occurred before. It was because of this that even the gods themselves began to doubt that it was really happening. But Lady Hecate's appearance in a cloud of mist at the door the throne room was enough to disperse their doubts. Hermes was sent out to deliver the message, and the throne room was expanded so that they would have enough room for all of the celestial beings that were about to gather in that place.
One by one they appeared, gods and goddesses from all over the world flocked to Olympus. Even Dionysus and Hades were extended a temporary invitation to the palace. The Throne Room rang with the sounds of conversing gods, all who had been invited to help pass judgment on how to deal with the situation. All the chatter ceased when Zeus drew out his lightning bolt, the crackling of its power silencing them into submission. He motioned for Lady Hecate to come forward.
Her steps were silent as if she were floating. A shroud of mist covered and concealed her body in the place of clothing, and her hair blew around her face even though there was no wind. The most noticeable detail about her was her eyes. They were a deep dark blue like the twilight sky, and brilliant flecks of white spotted them like stars. The magical power held behind those eyes was unimaginable for anyone who has never looked into them.
The goddess stepped into the center of the room. Her voice rang out against the domed ceiling as her words confirmed everyone's deepest fears. "The realm has been breached from the outside."
Thousands of millennium ago, before fire itself, had found its way to the then primitive beast called humans, beings from beyond the extent of Uranus had come to their realm. Jumping through the dimensional rift, they came into the land of the gods and caused chaos. An army of these beings arrived on the earth and it took all the might of the gods to fight them back into their realm. A great war was waged to which the fates deemed the god's victors. The Hundred Handed Ones closed the rift, but it was so large that not even their strength could hold it closed for long. It was then that Athena formed a plan to close the hole, and shield their realm from any further invasions. Athena called upon Hecate. She had the goddess of magic spin the mist into yards of string, while she wove it. The tapestry was so large that it not only sealed the hole, but surrounded their world, hiding it from any more of those foul invaders. Hecate was deemed the goddess of the mist, and was assigned the duty of guarding the vel, which was the name given to the protective tapestry, to keep people out, as well as keep people in.
Now the tapestry had been torn. There was a hole in the tightly woven fabric of their dimension. As if someone had stuck a pin in it. But even the smallest of openings could cause the largest of disasters, because the more that tried to come through the hole, the larger it would become.
The throne room was immediately full of loud, panicked voices.
"Is it them? Have the Aliens comeback?" Aliens being a more modern term the gods had adapted to calling the foreign invaders.
"How did they get through?"
"It should have been impossible to get through the vel."
"Are we safe?"
"When do we fight?"
"SILENCE!" Athena cried. " Lady Hecate, who, or what was it that broke through the vel? How did they manage it?" she questioned.
"I can't be sure how they got through" she whispered "but it looked as if it were a blue police call box."
