Chapter Twelve
On the Twelfth Day of Christmas, the Multiverse Gave to Me...
It had been six months since the defeat of Chaos, and things couldn't have been going better for everyone, except for one little issue. "Huuuugh." Ami quietly sighed to herself for the millionth time that day.
"Ami what's wrong, you've been so depressed for the past few weeks, but today you're worse than ever? What's wrong?" Mako asked as she sipped some tea.
"I don't know Mako, I just feel empty inside. Like something significant is missing from my life, I've been feeling like this for a while now, but this feeling is worse today than it's ever been before. I don't understand, but I feel like my heart's been broken." Ami quietly explained with a few tears.
"Did I do something wrong?" Mako asked with concern as she stared at Ami.
"Of course not Mako, I don't think this has anything to do with you, or even me for that matter. I can't explain why I feel like this, I just do though." Ami answered as she started crying a little harder.
"Oh Ami." Mako quietly said as she got up from the table and walked over to Ami. "I don't know what's wrong, but if it's hurting this much then maybe you should talk to Setsuna or Rei? Maybe one of them can help you find the answers you so desperately seek." Mako suggested as she hugged Ami.
"Maybe you're right Mako. I'll ask Rei, we have to go there to help with the decorations anyways." Ami replied with a sniffle as she hugged Mako back. "Thanks Mako, you're the best girlfriend in the universe." Ami thanked as she let go of Mako.
"Second best, you take the title of best." Mako chuckled as she gave Ami a kiss on her cheek. "Let's get going, the shrine's not gonna decorate itself." Mako said with a smile as she stood up.
"I suppose that's true." Ami replied as she stood up and stretched, lifting her shirt a little as she did.
"Oh look at those abs, my girl is rump a pump pumped up." Mako said with a grin as she ran her fingers over the defining lines on Ami's abs.
"I thought you liked me when I was chubby?" Ami asked with a smirk as she put her coat on.
"I did, but I like shredded Ami to. I don't care if I get ripped Ami or roly poly Ami. I love them both equally, though I will admit that I do miss pressing my fingers into that doughy belly of yours, or squeezing those soft little love handles you had. But that's okay, I love my little blueberry for who she is, no matter what." Mako said with a smile as she held the door for Ami.
"Thanks Mako, and I love you no matter what as well." Ami replied as she walked outside, followed by Mako.
"Ami look." Mako suddenly said as she pointed at the sky.
"What?" Ami asked as she looked up. "A shooting star!" Ami said with excitement as she stared at a streak in the sky.
"Quick Ami, make a wish." Mako instructed as she looked at Ami. Ami clasped her hands together and looked up at the sky.
"I wish with all my heart that I could figure out why I feel so empty inside, and what the important thing in my life is that's meant to fill that hole in my soul." Ami quietly said as she closed her eyes. A moment later a bright green beam fell from the sky and landed directly on Ami, and in an instant she vanished.
"What the fuck just happened?!" Mako screamed as she stared at the spot Ami had been standing just a second earlier.
One minute earlier in universe PPG. 1-3
"Ah, there's nothing like a good cup of morning joe for Mojo." Mojo said to himself as he sipped some coffee from his cup. "OH! Mojo nearly forgot the muffin." Mojo said to himself as he set is cup down on a large red button. A moment later a large machine began to whir and light up. "Hm. Note to self, change design of fire button for multiverseal laser so it doesn't resemble Mojo's red rubber coaster." Mojo said to himself as he watched the laser fire, launching a large green beam into the air. "I best prepare for the punny puffs to come beat me up." Mojo said to himself as he walked away.
Universe PPG. 1-3, present time.
"AH!" Ami yelled in pain as she slammed into a hard metal floor. "Oh man, that really hurt." Ami groaned as she slowly got to her feet. "Where am I?" Ami quietly said as she looked around a little bit.
"You are in the observatory of the great super villain known as...Mojo Jojo! Who is me, for I am Mojo Jojo!" Mojo shouted as he stepped in front of Ami.
"Do you have to yell Mojo, I'm literally right here. My head is killing me, I guess landing head first on steel will do that to you though." Ami groaned as rubbed her head a little.
"Sorry Ami." Mojo apologized in a sad tone.
"So you know who I am to huh? I'm guessing that's not a coincidence." Ami said as she rubbed her head.
"Yes, it would appear that Mojo does know you're name. I also get the feeling that you know mine, and not just because Mojo shouted it out." Mojo replied as he looked at Ami.
"Yep, been having a lot of problems like that in the past few months; and I'm guessing that any moment now three little girls are gonna come blasting through the roof. Am I wrong?" Ami asked as she rubbed her neck a little bit.
"You guessed it. Do you want some pain medication or anything, mojo has a cabinet of it? He gets beat up a lot." Mojo asked as he watched Ami rub her neck.
"If you wouldn't mind, I'd actually really appreciate that." Ami groaned as she sat down in a chair. "I hope you don't mind if I sit?" Ami asked as she stretched her neck a little bit.
"Of course not Ami, sit wherever you'd like." Mojo replied as he grabbed some ibuprofen and some water. "Here you go." Mojo said as he handed Ami the water and pills.
"Thanks Mojo." Ami thanked as she took the pills and a sip of water. "Do they normally take this long to show up?" Ami asked as she drank the rest of the water.
"Give it another few seconds, right about... now." Mojo said as he pointed at the ceiling.
"Not so fast Mojo Jojo!" Blossom shouted as she and her sister came crashing through the roof.
"Wait! Mojo can explain, it was an accident! Mojo set his coffee cup on a button instead of a coaster, they looked the same! Mojo designed his button poorly!" Mojo shouted as he held his hands up to the puffs.
"Yeah right Mojo! Come on girls, let's get him!" Buttercup yelled as she started charging at Mojo.
"That's not nice Buttercup, just because Mojo does bad things doesn't make him a liar. But it's good to be cautious." Ami said as she looked up at Buttercup.
"Sorry Ami mommy." Buttercup replied as she floated down to Ami.
"Hey wait a minute, how did you know Buttercup's name? We've never met you before." Bubbles quietly said as she floated over to Ami.
"Hey she's right, and why did I call you Ami mommy? I don't have a mommy, I was made in a lab." Buttercup asked as she stared at Ami.
"Who are you, and why does it feel like we've met before?" Blossom asked as she stared at Ami.
"Simple, because we have. We met in an alternate timeline, now the only thing I don't understand is how we can still be connected when those two timelines clearly don't over lap, at least not from what I understand." Ami answered as she sipped some of her water.
"Please, let Mojo explain." Mojo said as he walked over to a whiteboard and pulled out a marker. "You see, though the two time lines are very different, you four must have formed a very strong bond together, one that was so powerful that it transcended space and time. Feelings like love and hate are capable of having the kind of power necessary to transcend space and time, in fact they are two of the only feelings capable of being strong enough to do so. In other words, you four either loved each other more than life itself, or hated each other so much that you are subconsciously connected by that hatred and desire to annihilate one another. But the most likely scenario is the first one, you are all connected through an eternal love for each other." Mojo explained as he drew a diagram on his whiteboard.
"Gross! That's the cheesiest plot filler I've ever heard of in my life, who came up with this junk?!" Buttercup blurted out.
"Probably some lonely nerd who spends all day writing fan fictions about shows no one watches anymore." Blossom answered with a shrug.
"Who cares, we have a mommy!" Bubbles squealed as she flew into Ami's arms and hugged her.
"And I have the three most precious girls in the whole multiverse, oh I've missed you girls so much." Ami cried as she hugged Bubbles as tight as she could.
"Ami mommy!" Blossom and Buttercup both yelled as they dashed into Ami's arms, nearly knocking her off her feet.
"Oh my!" Ami giggled as she held her balance. "I love you to girls, my sweet little puffs." Ami quietly said as she kissed each one of them. "Hey, let's go get your dad and tell him what's going on." Ami said as she gently set the puffs down.
"Okay." All three puffs replied as they started following Ami out of the observatory.
"Wait! Mojo has something for all of you, at the time Mojo didn't know why he made these, but now he realizes that it was for this moment." Mojo informed as he grabbed four small boxes and rushed them over to Ami and the puffs.
"The transport watches." Ami quietly said as she opened her box.
"Yes, universal transport watches. These devices will allow you all to travel not only between your two universes, but any other one as well." Mojo informed with a smile.
"Thanks Mojo, Merry Christmas to you to." Ami quietly said as she hugged Mojo.
"Happy early June to you to Ami." Mojo replied as he hugged Ami back.
"Come on girls, let's go tell the professor." Ami said with a smile as she lead the puffs out of the observatory.
"Yay!" The puffs all cheered as they followed Ami outside. "Come on Ami mommy, let's go!" Buttercup said with a grin as she picked Ami up, then started flying her towards their house.
"You girls will never cease to amaze me." Ami giggled as she looked up at Buttercup. A few minutes later the puffs landed outside their house.
"Come on in Ami mommy." Blossom said as she opened the door and lead everyone inside. "Professor, we're back!" Blossom yelled as she floated inside.
"How'd it go girls, did you kick Mojo's butt?!" The professor yelled from the kitchen.
"Not exactly, but look, we found that thing we've all been feeling is missing from our lives!" Blossom answered in a happy tone.
"Really? What was it?" The professor asked as he started walking towards them.
"It's not a what professor, it's..." Buttercup started to answer, until the professor stepped into the room.
"Ami." The professor quietly said as he stared at Ami.
"Hi Professor Utonium, it's been a long time." Ami quietly said with a few tears.
"I knew it wasn't just a strange dream, I knew you were out there somewhere. The mother the girls longed for, the mother they needed and deserved. It's so good to see you again Ami, I've missed you." The professor quietly said with a few tears.
"I've missed you to Professor." Ami cried as she ran up to the professor and hugged him.
"What the heck are we still doing here, isn't it Christmas by you?" The professor asked with a grin as he let go of Ami.
"Almost, just another nine hours to go." Ami answered with a smile.
"Well, there's no such thing as being too early when it comes to Christmas." The professor replied with a smile.
"I whole heartedly believe that, to the point where I got the girls gifts almost six months ago, and I didn't even know who I was shopping for." Ami said with a giggle as she looked at the puffs. "Come on girls, let's go see your mommy and aunties." Ami said as she activated her transport watch.
"Yay!" The puffs all cheered as they zipped into the portal.
"Coming professor?" Ami asked as she looked back at the professor.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." The professor replied as he stepped through the portal, followed by Ami.
"Yep, I think things are gonna be just fine from now on." Ami said to herself as she stepped through the portal.
