Epilogue
"Well Ami, it's been one crazy ride. But I'm glad the ride stopped where it did, I couldn't have asked for a better ending to our story." Mako said with a smile as she stared at a picture of Ami.
"You ready sis?" Kaede asked as she knocked on the door.
"Sure am sis." Mako replied as she took one last look at the picture. "I sure am." Mako quietly said as she stood up and walked over to the door.
"How are you doing in there Ami?" Usagi asked as she knocked on the door.
"I'm freaking out Usagi!" Ami yelled back in a panicked tone.
"Don't worry Ami, my mom always said that that's normal on this day." Usagi replied in a comforting tone.
"Not like this, I'm too fat for my dress! It won't zip up!" Ami cried as she tugged on her zipper.
"You're not fat Ami, the zipper's probably just caught on the seam again. I'll come help you." Michiru said in a kind tone as she slowly opened the door and walked into the room.
"It doesn't fit." Ami cried as she looked down at herself.
"Nonsense, turn around." Michiru quietly said with a smile. Ami slowly turned around so Michiru could see her zipper.
"Alright, let me work my magic." Michiru said with a smile as she wiggled the zipper around a bit, then slowly pulled it up. "See, I told you it would be fine." Michiru said as she gently put a hand on Ami's shoulder.
"Thank you Michiru, you're the best bride's maid ever." Ami quietly thanked as she hugged Michiru.
"Ouch, we're standing right here." Minako said with a smile.
"Sorry." Ami apologized with a smile and a sniffle.
"Ya look lovely Ami, I hope I look that pertty when Kaede and I get married." Sarah said with a smile as she stared at Ami.
"I know you will Sarah, and thank you." Ami thanked as she put her vail on.
"I wonder how bride number two is doing?" Minako wondered out loud.
"I'm sure she's fine." Michiru answered with a smile.
"I'm so nervous right now that I think I'm gonna puke!" Mako shouted as she started to hyperventilate.
"Calm down sis, there's nothing to be nervous about." Kaede quietly said as she tried to comfort Mako.
"Nothing to be nervous about?! I'm about to get married to the love of my life, but what if my parents wouldn't approve or something?! What if she gets cold feet?! What if I get cold feet?! I'm terrified right now, my dress makes me look fat, it doesn't fit my boobs at all, the color looks horrible on me! Why did I pick this dress, who let me pick this dress?!" Mako panicked as she continued to hyperventilate.
"Listen to me! Listen, listen to me!" Kaede shouted as she grabbed Mako and lightly shook her. "You don't look fat, your boobs are fine, and the dress is beautiful on you. Take a deep breath sis, Ami loves you no matter what. You could walk down that isle in a trash bag and Ami would still think you're beautiful. She loves you for this, not for this." Kaede said as she pointed to Mako's heart, before gesturing to the rest of her body.
"You're right, you're absolutely right sis. We've been through hell and a hacksaw together and we haven't once thought about breaking up. Thanks sis, I needed that." Mako thanked as she hugged Kaede.
"Five minutes Mako." Naru informed as she poked her head in the room.
"Thanks Naru." Mako thanked with a breath.
"You've got this sis, deep breath. You can do this, you love Ami and Ami loves you. Now walk down that isle and make it official." Kaede instructed in a firm but friendly tone.
"I will sis, thanks." Mako thanked as she took a deep breath. "Alright, let's do this." Mako said with a smile as she started leaving her dressing room.
"Ready Mako?" Hiroto asked as Mako walked out of her dressing room.
"Yeah, I'm ready papa Mizuno." Mako replied with a small breath.
"Almost time Ami, are you all set?" Saeko asked as Ami exited the dressing room.
"Yeah, I'm ready mom." Ami answered with a smile.
"Let's go honey." Saeko said with a smile as she held her hand out to Ami. Ami smiled as she took her mother's hand and started walking with her towards the alter.
"Here we go." Hiroto said with a smile and a small breath as he walked Mako down a hall.
"Here we go, you sure you're okay with standing at the alter and waiting? You really don't want to be walked down at the same time as Mako?" Saeko asked as she walked Ami to the alter.
"I'm sure mom, we wanted this wedding to be as traditional as possible. So one of us has to already be here for that to be possible. It's always been Mako's dream to be a bride that gets to walk the aisle, I never really cared, just as long as I ended up with her." Ami answered with a smile.
"You've grown up so much Ami, it's so hard for me to accept. I think it was easier for me to hear the words, I'm a sailor guardian come out of your mouth, than it was for me to hear you say I'm getting married." Saeko chuckled as she hugged Ami.
"I feel like that's normal." Ami giggled as she hugged her mom back. Saeko smiled at her daughter before taking her seat.
"Ready sweetie?" Hiroto asked as he looked at Mako.
"I am. Thanks papa Mizuno, I love you." Mako thanked with a smile as she looked at Hiroto.
"I love you to Mako." Hiroto replied, just as the here comes the bride piano solo started.
"EEE! That's our cue!" Bubbles squealed as she dashed out to the isle, followed by her sisters, Hotaru, and Chibiusa.
"Bubbles! You're only supposed to put flowers on the bride's path!" Blossom yelled as Bubbles started raining flowers all over the place, including on the guests.
"Flowers for everybody!" Bubbles cheered as she continued dumping flowers everywhere. Ami was barely holding in her laughter, and the professor was just trying to bury his face in his jacket.
"Yep, this is definitely Ami and Mako's wedding." Chibusa giggled as she and Hotaru laid the flowers on the path in a more traditional fashion.
"Look, here she comes." Akiko whispered as she and Kazuto stood up and looked at Mako, along with all of the other guests.
"Oh, she looks so beautiful." Ikuko whispered as she, Shingo, and Kenji watched Mako walk down the isle.
"Mako's so pretty mama." Diana quietly said as she watched Mako walk down the isle.
"They both are Diana." Luna replied as she looked at Ami.
"Wow, you look stunning Mako." Ami quietly said as Mako stepped up to the alter.
"You look like an angel." Mako quietly replied as she stared at Ami.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today, in holy matrimony, to witness the marriage of Makoto Kino and Ami Mizuno. The brides have written their own vows, which they will now read." Rei's grandfather spoke as he stared out at the crowd.
"I'm so nervous." Ami whispered.
"Don't be, you're gonna do great." Mako whispered back with a smile.
"Thank you." Ami replied with a breath. "Mako, from the moment I met you, I felt an attraction to you. More than just a physical attraction though, I felt close to you in ways I had never felt to anyone before, even despite never having seen you before that day. Your beauty, your strength, your personality, it was all magnetic to me, and I was happy to be pulled towards it. We've fought our way through the worst of monsters and biggest of evils, and through it all, I felt safe. I felt safe, because you were there to shield me from the fear, you were there to protect me from the monsters, and most of all, you were there to protect me from myself. You are my everything Mako, and I never could've made it to where I am in this life, if I hadn't met you." Ami cried as she recited her vows from memory.
"That was lovely Ms. Mizuno." Rei's grandpa said with a smile as he looked at Ami, then at Mako.
"Ami, you are the most amazing person I've ever met. Your intellect knows no bounds, your capacity for love and compassion is infinite, and most of all, you have made me feel whole again. You have helped to close the ache in my heart left by my parents, you and your family took me in and treated me as if I were born into it. You have always been there for me, wether it was for something as small as complicated homework, or as big as life and death conflict, you are there for me. You have helped me to move past my fears of who I am, you've helped me to realize that it's okay to be weak sometimes, because you're always there to hold me up when I can't stand. You mean more to me than life itself, and I'm so thankful to be spending our ridiculously extended life span together. I love you Ami Mizuno, with all my heart and soul." Mako recited as she slowly began to cry.
"Another beautiful vow. If anyone objects to this marriage, speak now or forever hold your peace." Rei's grandfather said as he looked out at the audience. No one spoke a word, they hardly even breathed. "Then I now pronounce you wife and wife, you may kiss the bride." Rei's grandfather said with a smile. The second the words were uttered Ami threw herself into Mako's arms and kissed her with a passion that made Rei feel inadequate as the guardian of passion.
"I love you Ami!" Mako shouted as she hugged Ami as tight she could.
"I love you to Mako!" Ami yelled as she did the same thing.
"Now let's go stuff ourselves with cake, because what the heck, it's our wedding!" Mako said with a big grin.
"I call a big end piece!" Bubbles cheered as she flew over to Mako.
"Whatever you want baby." Ami giggled as she grabbed Bubbles out of the air and hugged her.
"So, where's the honey moon gonna be?" Usagi asked with a grin as she and everyone else followed Ami and Mako to the buffet area.
"I was thinking somewhere exotic." Ami replied with a grin.
"Somewhere that three little puffs might like to travel?" Mako asked with a smirk as she looked at the puffs.
"Yeah, somewhere with big wild cats." Ami answered with a smirk.
"Sounds like we're going on safari." Kaede said with grin as she looked at everyone.
"Sorry sis, you can't come. It's our honeymoon, we need alone time." Mako said with a smile.
"Oh, of course sis. That makes sense." Kaede replied, doing her best to hide her disappointment.
"Oh my God! The look on your face!" Mako yelled as she burst out laughing. "Of course you guys can come, what fun is a safari on another continent if your family isn't there to enjoy it with you!" Mako yelled as she burst into laughter.
"Oh man darling, she really had ya going there! Remind me never ta disappoint yas, you have the most pathetic and adorable face of disappointment. I ain't ever gonna be able ta say no ta you!" Sarah yelled as she laughed at Kaede.
"Ha ha, you guys are sooo clever." Kaede said with a smile. "Congratulations you two, it's about damn time." Kaede said with a smile as she hugged Ami and Mako.
"Thanks sis. Now it's your turn to start planning for your wedding, Sarah's not a very patient girl after all." Mako chuckled as she looked at Sarah.
"Y'all done talking yet? This gal needs a chunk of meat and a big ol' slab of cake." Sarah said with a grin as she walked with everyone to the buffet.
"Ye haw cow girl, ye haw." Kaede said with a smile as she and the others followed Sarah to the buffet.
"To the bestest mommies ever!" The puffs shouted as they all flew into the air and cheered.
"Here here!" All the guests replied as they all held their drinks up.
"Our wacky ride's just getting started Mako." Ami said as she put her arm around Mako.
"It's about damn time Ami, it's about damn time." Mako replied as she watched the puffs fly around.
