"I am saddened to announce that one of the tributes has passed away last night. From now on each tribute will have a guardian at all times. Thank you." Zeus' loud voice echoed throughout the building and Percy mentally groaned.

'Great. Just great. Now I'll be stuck with some 'guardian' for the whole time.' Percy thought to himself as he sat down at breakfast the following morning after the scores were released. He felt kind of proud of himself for scoring a eleven out of twelve which was the highest score given. Annabeth, Jason, Thalia and Frank had all managed to get ten's, and both Nico and Leo got nine's. Percy had no idea what the others had done in their ranking session but he knew that it would of had to have been something good to make them get such high scores.

Percy piled blue pancakes onto his plate and started eating his breakfast slowly. He had no idea what he would be doing today but he hoped that it would be like a free day because later in the afternoon they had the interview with Aeolus. However, shortly after starting his fourth pancake Poseidon walked into the dining room and started speaking. "Congratulations again on scoring the eleven son. This evening you will be having an interview with Aeolus, so everyone can get to know you a little better. So, instead of having hand to hand combat training, today we will be practicing interviews and the correct answers to the most likely questions he will ask you. After we are finished you will go to Cynthia and get your outfit for tonight ready. Come to the lounge room when you are finished eating." Percy nodded his head in understanding and continued eating his pancake as his father walked out of the room, leaving him alone again.

The only part of today that Percy was actually looking forward to was seeing Cynthia. Cynthia was a minor fashion god, as well as being his designer and she was absolutely amazing at her job. Percy knew that he probably sounded like a girl as he thought this but it didn't matter. The suit that she had made him for the opening ceremony had been a pale blue, almost white colour and it had looked like ice. It was meant to be water that had frozen over and it had looked awesome.

Sighing to himself, Percy pushed his chair back and stood up, walking towards the lounge room where he knew his torture would begin.

"And now our final question. Why do you want to win?" Poseidon asked Percy yet another stupid question. Percy was sick of answering these stupid, pointless questions. All he wanted to do was go to bed and sleep until September.

Percy thought about how we should answer the question because the truth was he didn't want to win. He knew that he wanted to do everything in his power to make sure that Annabeth won instead of him. However, Percy knew that his father wouldn't appreciate this answer so he decided to make up a lie. "I want to win so I can go back home, see my mother and try to live a normalish life." Percy spoke but as he spoke he realised that he was partially speaking the truth. He hadn't seen his mother since the start of the summer when she had dropped him off at camp and he hadn't had a chance to say goodbye before Poseidon whisked him away to Olympus for the games. A small part of him wondered what would happen if he did win. If Annabeth died and he was crowned victor. He would be able to live and maybe even go to college.

"Alright. I think that was a good answer. You can go to your room now; Cynthia will come to you when it's time to get ready." Poseidon's voice snapped Percy out of his thoughts and back into reality. Percy looked up in time just to see his father walking out if the room, leaving him all alone once again. Instantly Percy started feeling guilty for his thoughts. He shook his head to try and rid those horrible thoughts from his mind. How could he think like that about his girlfriend? She deserved to win. She had to win.

Sighing to himself for the umpteenth time today, Percy stood up from the plush couch seats and walked towards his room, feeling incredibly guilty.

"There you go. You're all done and ready for your interview." Cynthia's bubbly voice informed Percy as she stepped back, to get a better look at him. He was wearing a light blue suit that slowly fadded into dark blue, like the bottom of an ocean. Percy smiled to himself as Cynthia removed the sheet that had been covering the mirror for the past hour whilst she had done her work on him. He was a little embarrassed to admit that he was wearing of the make up Cynthia had applied was to make sure he didn't look like a pale ghost on stage, however Cynthia had also insisted on framing his sea green eyes with an aqua sparkly eyeliner 'to make his eyes pop.' Cynthia had explained as she drew it on. Percy mentally groaned at the fact that he was actually wearing eyeliner but he shrugged it off because he knew that the other guys surely had gone through the same thing. At least he hoped he wouldn't be the only one...

"So what do we do now?" Percy asked, unsure of how long he would have to wait until his interview.

"Now, you will wait in here until either myself or Poseidon come to collect you and take you downstairs to where the interview will take place." Cynthia spoke as she exited the room. Quickly Cynthia's head popped back around the almost closed door. "Oh, and try not to ruin your suit or anything." She smirked and walked away. However, before the door could close a new figure appeared in the room. Percy had never seen him before and was instantly curious as to who he was and why he was in his room.

"Uh, hello? Can I help you with something?" Percy asked the stranger who was standing by the door, after five minutes of nothing happening.

The stranger merely grunted out a word that sounded a little like 'Guardian.' Before returning to his statue like stance and ignoring him.

Unsure of what to do now, Percy sat down on his bed and flicked on the television, waiting for Cynthia or his father to come and collect him. However Percy's thoughts weren't on the episode of Friends that was playing on the television. He was wondering why he would need a guardian. Sure one of the other tributes had died last night but Percy's father had told him that it was from natural causes, so why did that result in everyone having to have someone by them at all times?

With a shock Percy realised that perhaps he had been lied to. Perhaps the tribute had purposely died so she could get out of the games? It would make sense, having to have a guardian at all times, so none of the other tributes tried to 'off' themselves. As Percy thought more and more about the idea of perposely getting out of the games, he started to believe that it was actually what happened. 'I guess she just really wanted out.' Percy thought to himself as he cast a look to his 'Guardian' who was still standing like a statue.

Before Percy could think about the death of the tribute and how the gods had lied about it, there was a knock on the door and Cynthia popped her head in. "Come on! It's time!"

AN: Okay so I know that this chapter is a little short and a little boring but the next chapter will be the interviews and then hopefully the chapter after that will be when the games actually begin for real. Thanks!
