Okay, for any Bo-Katan fans here, here she makes her appearance. :)
Chapter 7. Finding Bo-Katan.
The high buildings spat massive chalks of coal black smoke into the air, the fumes circling lazily around each other as it reached up further into the grey sky.
Jedi Master Plo Koon felt a great wave of unease wash over him as a result of the deathly silence. Ghosts of a past Mandalore, before this happened, vaguely flickered before him; people conversing, laughing, children running. There had once been life; now all he could feel with his senses was the uneasy currents in the Force. Death constantly interrupted the glass water's surface, ripples converging outwards. The surrounding area practically reeked of the Dark Side.
He stretched out with his senses. Knowledge from Obi-Wan Kenobi suggested that the Sith, Darth Maul and his brother had remained on planet, yet when she warily brushed his light aura against the repulsive dark he felt only the faintest of presences. A mere trace.
One only felt a mere trace from where they were previously, which only meant two possible outcomes: they were either dead or had left.
He mentally sighed, understanding that they had once again allowed the two to slip through their fingers. This was the best opportunity they had to finally rid the galaxy of them and they had missed it. They took too long deliberating who should have gone.
They had no trace of where they could have fled.
But Bo-Katan could help - If they found her.
The clones around the Jedi Master slowly scoured the perimeter, blasters raised warily, aiming at buildings, towards the rooftops and into dark alleys.
"General, how do we expect to find this person? The place is a mess," The lead clone walking next to him asked.
Plo briefly cast a glance towards his companion and placed a hand on his shoulder. "They have found us, Yuri."
"What-"
At that precise moment, the roar of jets invaded the area, causing the Jedi Master and his clone companions to snap their heads up skywards as several red figures dropped down and landed around them, enveloping them in a tight circle.
Plo raised a hand and the clones, who had raised their blasters in self-defence, apprehensively lowered them until the barrel pointed at the ground.
The crimson people's blasters remained angled towards them as a shorter and slimmer member stepped out from the ring and stopped opposite to Plo, looking up at him through a black visor. Through his oxygen mask he steadily returned the masked figure's gaze, only hearing their breathing, no one moving a muscle.
Then the shorter figure's hands cupped the helmet with their hands and lifted, revealing a short mess of auburn hair that fell to her shoulders and ice blue eyes upon a pale and pointed face, very similar to the duchess Satine's.
The resemblance was uncanny, save the hair colour. They almost looked alike.
"If you're here for my sister you're too late. The Jedi already left with her," she started in a voice as cold as ice.
"I'm aware of that, for Master Kenobi and your sister are safely on Coruscant where she is under his protection. The Jedi Council is also currently in negotiations with the senate for a Republic invasion of Mandalore."
Bo nodded, seeming to approve of this. It was, after all, what she had told Kenobi to do.
"We're here for the two Sith present."
Bo's eyes lit up. "You mean Maul and that abomination of a brother of his?" she all but spat viciously, teeth clenched.
Plo remained still, his clones having all now broken gazes with Bo's forces and turning to the woman their general was talking with.
"He's not here, nor is his brother."
"Where are they?" Plo urged, unconsciously stepping forwards, until he was looking directly down towards the short woman. Bo's forces seemed to take this as imposing for they quickly raised their blasters, aiming them towards the Jedi.
Bo raised an open palm, signalling for her comrades to lower their arms, and they did so obediently.
"The beast is dead."
Plo felt a shift in the air around him, as if gravity's magnitude had suddenly increased, pushing down on him like the weight of a star. Dead?
"We found him with two holes in his chest. He was impaled. There are signs of a fight, lightsaber slashes carving the walls and smashed windows. We assume that they had fought and that his brother had killed him."
Plo brushed his fingers over his chin, his left arm propping his right. If the two brothers had indeed fought, why would Maul kill him? It was not uncommon for the Sith to betray one another, and it was possible that Savage had perhaps only been a means to an end, yet the two had wreaked havoc across the galaxy, the brute aiding Maul in his quest for revenge against Kenobi. And then there was no trace, except the lingering presence of Maul, who was by now long gone, likely planning his next move. It didn't entirely add up.
Silently, the Jedi Master raised his right arm, comlink hovering just beneath his breathing mask, and spoke. "Masters Mundi, Stass, Ti. We're too late. Maul has already left."
Static met him for a second before he received a reply, none other from Shaak Ti. "What about his brother?"
"He was found dead. Bo-Katan is here. She reported it."
"Is she certain?" Mundi enquired, scepticism lacing his tone.
"She found him dead. It seems that there was also signs of a struggle."
"Is it possible that Maul killed his brother?" Stass questioned almost immediately.
Plo shook his head. "I highly doubt it. They may be Sith, but Savage was by no means a means to an end. Maul had other plans with him. Whatever killed Savage, it was not one of Maul's intentions. I feel a great sorrow on this planet through the Force. It is from him. Regroup at the main tunnel like we agreed. We're leaving."
A chorus or roger met his order before the four Jedi disengaged.
"Let us come with you," Bo's voice suddenly slashed through the silence like a knife as Plo begsan to turn away.
"And what about your Republic invasion?" Plo asked curiously. "They'll be expecting you once they arrive to inform them of the events that have transpired here."
Bo's eyes flashed with determination, one that Plo recognised. It was a determination that informed him she was not going to back down until he agreed.
"My men know what happened here," she stated. "Some will stay behind and inform them."
Nodding, the Jedi Master accepted her plea and retraced his steps to the main hanger tunnel, Bo and three of her men now having joined the group.
Sorry for the delay. I hope you enjoyed! :)
