Elizabeth stared out the front windshield of her car not really seeing what was in front of her. She could see Opie with Donna and she could see them kissing and holding hands but she couldn't get her brain to figure out what was happening. They had gone on a few dates and slept together multiple times, just a few days ago in fact, and yet there he was kissing Donna, hugging Donna, loving Donna. Tears pricked in her eyes and she looked down at her jeans. She loved him she really did and he had told her that he was done with Donna for good this time and like an idiot she had believed him. She scrubbed her eyes hard as she heard a tap on her window.
"Open the door Lizzie," said her brother's familiar voice.
"I'm fine Jack," she said opening the door and grabbing her backpack.
"Oh really so was I just seeing things the other day when I saw you and Ope making out behind the gym?" he asked.
"Why would I be making out with Opie he's clearly with Donna... Again," said Elizabeth as she turned to walk to class.
"You can talk to me you know," said Jax following her.
"He's your best friend I didn't want to put you in a weird spot," she said not turning to look at him.
"But you're my sister," he said griping her arm and turning her to face him. "Now what the hell is going on."
Elizabeth stared at him for a moment her chin quivering before tears started to roll down her cheeks. Jax pulled her into a hug as she started to cry harder. He managed to maneuver them out of view and onto a bench.
"Talk to me Lizzie," he said as she pulled away from him wiping her eyes.
"I just really loved him Jax and I've been thinking about daddy a lot and I miss him and Opie makes everything not hurt so much and I thought... I just thought maybe I had found my someone," she scrubbed at her eyes some more and Jax took hold of her hand and squeezed it.
"I can't believe it's been a year," he said quietly. "I miss him too Lizzie. You're not alone in this."
"I know Jack and I know he was your dad too," she wiped her eyes one last time. "I just I thought things were finally starting to look up and then this... I should have known he's been doing this to me for over a year."
"I could beat him up for you," Jax offered earning him a smile from his sister.
"That's okay Jack," she patted him on the back.
"I love you Lizzie Lizzie," he said squeezing her hand one more time.
"I love you too Jacky," she said squeezing back.
The knocking on the door woke Elizabeth up. She moved slightly and the arm that was around her tightened. She had relented at some point in the evening and slept with him again. It was nice to feel like someone wanted her around, it was nice not having someone shove her out the door as soon as the sun came up. There was another knock and she carefully untangled herself from Juice and pulled the first thing she found on the floor over her head and then rushed to the door so the person knocking wouldn't wake up Juice. Her brother was in the other side of the door, carefully she stepped into the hallway and closed the door.
"You slept with him again?" he asked quirking an eyebrow up.
"Yes, I'm sorry, it's like a disease," she said quickly as she realized she was wearing his shirt. "What's up?"
"I came to see if you were going to visit Opie today and if you needed a ride over there?" he asked.
"Yeah I was going to go over later and I was going to ask Juice for a ride but thanks for the offer," she said awkwardly.
"You're going to ask the guy you're sleeping with to take you to visit your old bootie call?" said Jax angrily.
"First of all he wasn't my bootie call I was his and I think I'm a grow ass woman who can handle herself now not a prepubescent girl falling in love for the first time," she said through gritted teeth.
"I just... I just don't want anyone getting hurt," said Jax scratching the back of his head sheepishly. "I don't wanna lose my sister again after I just got her back because she makes another mistake."
"Hey I'm here now Jax and I spent a long enough time trying to run away from my past to know you can't do it. I'm not going anywhere any time soon," she said realizing how much he had missed her. "Promise Jacky."
"I'll hold you to that Lizzie," he said smiling. "Now get back in there and see if you can keep your pants on long enough to get ready for the day."
"I promise nothing," she laughed and she opened the door and slid back into the room. Juice was sprawled on his back with one arm stretched above his head and the blankets tangled about his waist. His perfect chest was visible along with most of his tattoos. She stared for a minute or two before pulling his shirt off and wondering to the bathroom.
She looked at herself on the mirror for a few minutes. She couldn't figure out how someone who looked like that would want someone who looked like her. She wasn't hideous she knew that but she was a few pounds overweight and carried all of it in her rear and could never manage to do anything with her mop of brown hair besides pull it into a ponytail. She had nice enough skin it was clear of blemishes and fair but not in creepy way in more if an "I use lots of sunscreen" way. She sighed as she turned on the water for her shower. She knew what crow eaters looked like and it was only a matter of time before she caught Juice with one. She stripped off her underwear and climbed into the shower, the water felt good running down her body. Suddenly the curtain pulled back and Juice stood naked staring at her.
"What do you want?" she asked covering herself for no apparent reason since he had already seen everything.
"I need a shower too so move over," he said pushing his way in. "I'm late so I'll be in and out quick." He snatched the shampoo out of her hands and squirted a small amount into his hands which he quickly lathered into his scalp since his hair was very short.
"Oh okay," she stood there like an idiot starting at the muscles rippling along his back and the large tattoo that was on it. She'd only ever seen it on the backs of her family members, Opie hadn't been patched in when they were together. She found it unnerving how much more attracted to him it made her. Quite suddenly she was no longer gazing at his muscled back and rear as she was staring at his package which responded to the attention impressively. She started blushing and coughing in embarrassment at being caught.
"Were you just checking me out?" he asked a cocky grin spreading across his face.
"What? No." Elizabeth turned away from him more embarrassed as if to wash her hair except he was in the water so she was left staring at the wall.
"Are you blushing?" he asked laughter in his voice. "Oh my god you're blushing."
"No," she tried to scoff but didn't even fool herself, "it's just really hot in here. I should get out you probably want some privacy." She started climbing out of the shower.
"You're weird," he laughed as she got water all over the floor. "You can stare at me I don't mind."
"That's okay," she said standing with her back to him and dripping everywhere. "I um need your help today. I need to go visit Opie do you think you can drive me over there when you're done."
"Sure I guess," he said after a moment and she heard the shower curtain close, all the laughter was gone from his voice.
Elizabeth felt awful as she tucked her head down behind Juice to keep out of the wind. She hadn't meant to hurt his feelings. He could have any girl he wanted why would he be offended she was going to see Opie. She wasn't going to sleep with him, she hoped. But even if she did what did it matter Juice was just another biker asshole who was going to break her heart eventually so why should she care whether or not he was upset. She had had to wait for him to get ready and then to have a little free time to drive her. She could have asked someone else to drive her in that amount of time, hell she could have taken anyone's car with no problem, she could have taken a strangers car even since she knew how to break into a car but she didn't. She waited for Juice because she felt bad and she wanted to see him smile again that day.
They pulled up in front of Opie's house then. Elizabeth slowly climbed off the bike and took her helmet off. She started to hand it to Juice but he pushed it back into her hands.
"Hang onto it you might need it later," he said giving her a half halfhearted smile.
"Okay," she said stupidly as she fumbled for the words to tell him she wasn't planning on sleeping with Opie. "I'll see you later," is what she ended up. She watched him drive off and then turned and walked up to the front door. She knocked on the door and then stood and waited for what felt like hours. The door opened and she stared up at Opie.
"Lizzie," his mouth fell open and then his whole gave seemed to crumble and fell against her letting out a choked sob.
