"When two people are meant to be together, they will be together. It's fate."
— Sara Gruen (Water for Elephants)
A cold morning breeze made its way down the streets of Paris. The sun had just begun to rise causing the residents of the city to wake up for the long day ahead. While people awoke a curly hair blond found herself walking the quiet before the storm. The smell of freshly baked bread filling her nose causing a grumble to come from her stomach.
Caroline Forbes felt the grumble of her stomach and knew it was not hunger for the bread that she smelt. For seventy-four years now Caroline had been drinking blood to survive and today she could not shake the feeling she had in her chest. Today would of been her ninety-first birthday in human years and all she could think about was what she missed out on.
All kind of thought running through her head. Would she still be living? Would she have children and grand children maybe even grant grandchildren? Would she be married and happily in love? All these thoughts on things she had missed out because of Kathrine Fucking Pierce. The bitch who suffocated her with a pillow to get her revenge on the Salvatores. The only bright side was now Kathrine was dead, not dead like her, but dead-dead.
The smell of fresh blood filled her nose taking her away from her thoughts. A man walking a street over had some how cut his hand and she could hear his cursing under his breath. The veins under her eyes begun to appear along with her fangs.
"Seriously?" Caroline groaned as her vampire features appeared.
Taking a deep breath Caroline rushed through the streets of Paris as fast as her feet could move. The nearest hospital was a good mile away and she was in serious need for a blood bag.
The city begun to come alive as the streets slowly begun to fill with the sound of beating hearts and fresh blood running through veins. Any vampire that was in the city would be drove mad with hunger from the people around them.
Moving quickly through the streets as fast as she could in human speed Caroline found a small alley behind a small shop. Sliding into the alley she used her vampire speed to rush as fast as possible to get away from the beating hearts and rushing blood moving through peoples veins. The thought of thick maroon metallic smelling blood causing her mouth to water with thirst.
"I knew I should of fed the other day" Caroline said quietly to herself. Stopping in another alley she paced back and fourth trying to calm herself of the first.
"You know you should always go with your gut" A familiar accented voice filled her ears. Caroline stopping in her tracks and slowly turned her body to face the not so stranger.
"Klaus" she said in barley a whisper. He stood leaning against a brick wall his arms crossed over his chest with a smile not a smirk, a smile spread across his face.
"Hello Love" he said pushing off the wall and walking towards her. "I see your enjoying the city without me. I thought we planed to come here together?" He asked.
"I never agreed to that actually and hello to you too." She replied back. Klaus stopped a few feet from her raising a eyebrow at her. "Actually didn't I call you out on your lame pick up line and toss your bracelet on the floor?" She asked taking a step closer to him.
"It's quite funny you mention that bracelet actually because" Klaus stops what he saying and reached into his leather jacket pulling out a familiar diamond bracelet. "I happen to believe that this was a gift in much need of returning." He says, pulling her hand into his and wrapping the shining object around her slender wrist.
"Klaus I"
"Happy birthday, Caroline" he says, cutting her off mid-sentence. Her eyes pull away from her wrist to look into his blue eyes that are staring at her with something she has not seen in sometime, love. He leans in and places a kiss on her cheek hovering for a brief second before pulling away and moving out of her reach. His back turns to her and Caroline's hand rushes up to touch the spot his lips were just on.
"Klaus wait" she calls out before he is gone for another seventy-some-what-years. She rushes over to him as he turns to look at her. "I haven't been to Tokyo yet. Maybe you would like to join me." She ask, biting her lip causing a smile falls upon his lips.
"I'd be honored, love." And with that fate had taken it's course.
