"You're joking, right?" Bella said, a glare on her face as she regarded Carlisle. He shook his head.
"For your safety we're flying you back to base. Alice is coming with you for her own safety, and she volunteered to help you until you heal."
I giggled as Bella scoffed, though she didn't at all look threatening with little Leo in her arms. He snuggled into her and her scowl vanished completely, replaced with a look of adoration and tender care for my son. If I didn't know better I would swear she had started to love him already. With a sigh she nodded.
"Fine."
"Now Bella, no need to-" Carlisle paused and blinked. "Wait... did you just agree to go home?"
"Yes, yes I did."
He blink again. "Esme... What did you give her?"
"Pain medication, but..." They looked at me. I shrugged, amused.
"I let her hold my son."
As if proving he was the cause, Leo gurgled and shuffled in his sleep, gripping Bella's damaged uniform shirt. Trust me, we all cooed at the sight of Bella smiling and kissing his head. Soon we were all leaving, Emmett carrying Bella to the helicopter. She shook her head and sighed in defeat.
