Lost Without You
A/N: Well this chapter has been floating around for awhile in my head I just don't have as much free time as I once did to write. Anyway this chapter is a bit odd for me because I'm delving into a character I believe was under developed in some levels. So please be gentle in your reviews of her as the show never outright called her stupid, although ditzy is considered almost the same thing in anime. Which as real people we all know isn't true.
Also I apologize for such a long wait.
Warning: Everything you know about the Bount has changed, Ishida is not a badass, and an abundance of Oc canon fodder. And eventual changing of the Vizard in upcoming chapters.
Orihime paused a moment before going on. "I mean if you really stopped to think about it when you first met Urahara it was with Rukia. And when she got taken by the soul reapers you wouldn't really have trusted him if he had told you then." She paused chewing her lip doing her best to keep her thoughts in order instead of allowing them to roam. "Then when we returned he probably wasn't expecting us to be dragged into this mess either. Or even if he expected it..."
"It was irrelevant." Ishida interrupted her with a slight nod. He wasn't in the mood to be upset at the man that had saved their lives after the first attack of the Bount, not to mention other incidents. "We had no other sources of information and where he got his wasn't as important as the fact it was true. I trust him." That was all there was to it really, Urahara had been there for them and that was what mattered in the long run. If he were a turn coat it would have shown in his actions before now.
Ichigo nodded reluctantly it wasn't like Orihime was wrong, and neither was Ishida. But his anger at not knowing wasn't unjustified either. And regardless of what Chad might think he felt justified in asking Dakota why he would join into a division that could be that cruel. Well granted they were still that cruel, not that he had any doubts about Captain Kurotsuchi ever changing.
Chad sat silently letting his thoughts wander over the new information. He wasn't really that surprised that Urahara had been connected to division twelve it was the only one that made sense. Also the way he had spoken about the Bount it had sounded like firsthand knowledge. So it made sense and like Ishida he didn't see anything wrong with Urahara, but he also understood Ichigo's frustration. There just wasn't enough information.
Orihime frowned in the long pause that followed. There really was a lot more to this Bount issue than there had been to hollows. At least with hollows information had been forth coming to a point. There really hadn't been much of a need for strategy meetings and figuring out intentions as there seemed to be now. "Is there any new information on the Bount than what Urahara gave us?" She finally voiced when the silence began to weigh to heavily much like the hopelessness Ishida must be feeling without his powers.
Dakota shook his head with a shrug. "It's outdated but it's actually the only information we have. Since Urahara was directly involved with the research, a humane research mind you. We have little more on the matter but most of it is useless in battle." He finished with a grave look recalling some of the smaller details of the file. "There were several side notes on the Quincy in the files but..." He tailed off as he didn't quite feel like delving into that landmine from the look on Ishida's face he was already aware of how brutal some of those experiments had been.
"Was there anything useful?" Chad asked looking as stoic as ever as he filled the long silence that had followed Dakota's last admission. None of them were too keen about the details of that file considering what they now knew. "Maybe about their powers?" He clarified watching Ichigo's knuckles turning nearly white as he clutched his pant legs just thinking about Ishida's loss. He was sure he wasn't the only one fighting giving the dark haired archer a sympathetic look.
"I'm not sure there was anything relevant to that kind of..." Dakota trailed off again losing himself in thought his eyes going hazy as he gazed across the room. "Well I'd have to take another look to clarify if it's anything useful but I might be able to pull the Quincy files and cross reference anything that correlates with the Bount." He wasn't about to tell any of them that he had read the Quincy files more than ten times looking for his own personal interest. No he would wait until he came back from another trip from Soul Society to delve into that can of worms. At least then he could get his wits about him on how to approach this topic now knowing that the living Quincy was indeed well aware of what had happened. Nemu had hinted at it but hadn't been able to share much with her 'Father' keeping an eye on her. And having met Ishida he was certain he knew why Nemu herself had taken such an interest. The prospect of helping him regain his powers was an intriguing one as well as possibly rewarding. Bringing up the other part of his own personal plan would have to wait until his next return. "I'll leave tonight and be back sometime tomorrow. In the meantime I'll leave Hanataro here. He should stay with Ishida to help him heal." He stood up ignoring the upset look that he was getting from the substitute shinigami and Hanataro himself about being asked about such plans. Finding the nearest window he pulled back the curtains and opened it stepping out. "I'll be back before you know it." He called over his shoulder and was gone again the curtains fluttering behind him in the slight breeze.
"Well that was informative." Ichigo scowled looking out the window before looking back at his friends. "I guess we might as well head over to my house then." He looked over at Hanataro and was a little relieved he was still there. This would at least lesson some of Orihime's burden with the healing as they were already unsure how they could have kept treating Ishida without hospital visits. Hospital visits that Ichigo was sure would lead to more interaction with Ishida's Dad which is the exact opposite of anything he would ever want with the man.
"Might as well." Ishida sighed already giving up on convincing Ichigo that it wasn't necessary for him to stay. After the Bount in the park he knew any chances of that happening had flown out the window. And somehow he couldn't help but think that when Dakota returned he'd have yet another house guest. With this in mind he stood up leading everyone back to his door where their shoes awaited.
