Fifty Shades Shattered
Chapter 25: New Worries
Ana
It's been a week since the trial for Linc and Elena started, but Christian was still in a mood. He chose not to go anymore, but things seemed to be taking a toll on him with what was coming out from the trial. I felt like I was walking on eggshells whenever I was around him.
"Damn it," I heard him say as he came out of his office barely seeing me in the hallway.
"What's the matter?" I questioned as I quickly to the side.
"This is the problem," he snaps as he holds up a small toy fire truck. "You have only one job, to pick up after the children and you can't even do that," he snaps at me.
"What did you just say?" I snapped back at him.
"You heard me Anastasia. Don't even start it!" he demands as he turns around and heads back into his office tossing the offending object toward me feet.
"Is everything alright," Taylor asks as he comes into the hallway.
"Yeah, just a normal day in paradise," I snap as I pick up the truck, and head toward the living room. I toss the truck into the toy bin, and take a moment to look around. I needed to get away from this house. I hated that even now Elena was tearing our family apart without even being around.
"Ma'am are you alright," Gail asks as she comes into the living room.
"I am fine," I say as I move out of the living room and up toward the kids rooms. I needed a break from Christian, and it looked like he needed a break from me. I get a small suitcase out of my closet, and start packing some clothes into it.
"What are you doing?" Christian says as he enters the room startling me.
"I am going away for a few days," I say as I move around him into the bathroom.
"You can't go," he snaps.
"I can leave this house anytime I want to," I yell toward him as I move back into the room.
"Anastasia, you cannot leave this house," he roars at me as he shoves me into the dresser. It catches me off guard causing me to gasp. I try to wiggle free from his hold, but it is strong.
"Christian, you're hurting me," I cry out as I feel panic forming in my gut. He looks around at his surroundings like it was all new to him.
"I'm sorry," he mumbles as he quickly lets go of me falling to his knees in front of me. Once again I see the broken man that has been haunting my dreams. The man that just when I think he will come back to be he disappears.
"Christian, we need a break," I say softly as I slowly get down on my knees.
"I can't live without you," he mumbles into my lap. I run my fingers throw his hair scratching his scalp every once in awhile. I hated to see my fifty in this kind of state, but he wasn't offering up any reason to why he wouldn't confide in me.
"Christian, we can't keep doing this. It isn't healthy for you, me or the kids," I say trying to keep my tone even.
"It's just too much, I can't even tell you the worse is over," he mutters into my lap. I continued to run my fingers through his hair.
"What do you mean?" I ask softly. He lifts his head out of my lap with tears still slightly coming down his cheeks.
"Linc's lawyer is trying to claim I was a willing participate to all the activities of his and Elena's over the years. He says that I knew what he was like toward her when I was younger, that we did some very terrible things together," he says trying to stay calm.
"But you weren't! Christian, we knew he would try something to keep himself from looking bad. You need to know that o matter what happens we will get through it together as a family. You will always be my husband and no matter what Linc tries to say or claim you did or didn't do will never change that," I say as I kiss him softly on the lips.
"The worse is it isn't even about revenge anymore Ana, he wants to ruin me," Christian mutters finally getting to the root of his problem.
"Maybe it's time for you to talk with Flynn, I think he might be able to put your worries at ease if you're willing to try," I say as I give him another soft kiss.
"You falling into my office that day changed my life forever. I don't know the kind of man I would have turned into without you," he says as he finally kisses me back.
"I know, you tell me that all the time," I say with a smirk on my face. He laughs softly.
"Yes, I do." he smirks back as he slaps my butt when as I stand up.
The trail is going on its third week of testimony. I have been called twice to the courthouse to testify on what went on during the bombing of the penthouse several years ago. Linc's lawyer kept trying to ask questions about our marriage that had nothing to do with anything. I am so fed up with the lawyer that I want to strangle him, but play it cool.
"Ana, the judge has dismissed you," Carrick says as he comes over to where I was sitting. I had just finished answering more questions about absolutely nothing.
"Carrick, will I have to come back tomorrow, "I question as I stand up.
"No, darling you're done. I having made my point to the judge that what goes on in the bed is no one's business. Lincoln's lawyer was trying to goat you into saying something he could use to twist the story around in his favor," he says as he walks me to the elevator.
"I am glad for that. Christian has been wound so tight about all of this that I will be glad when everything is said and done," I mutter as the elevator doors open with Sawyer standing in it.
"Ana are you ready," he questions as I hug Carrick goodbye.
"Sawyer where are we going," I ask as I notice that he isn't going in the direction of the house.
"Mr. Grey asked for us to meet him here," he says as Taylor opens my door. We were Seattle Sea Tac.
"Mrs. Grey, Mr. Grey and the children are on board waiting for you," Taylor says as he nudges me in the direction of the steps. I didn't wait to go anywhere right now, but home to take a hot bubble bath to relax after the past week.
"Ah, Taylor you found some stowaways," Christian says as he stands up holding a sleeping Teddy in his arms.
"Christian, what is going on," I question as he sets Teddy down in a seat and buckles him in.
"The other day you wanted to leave, you needed a break from all of this. I am taking that advice and the same good advice of Flynn and getting away from this trial," he says as he pulls me to him.
"I needed a break from the stress, but you're talking with me now," I softly say as tears form in my eyes.
"I know, but I want things to be stress free, Ana our baby needs to know we are fine and that he or she is coming into a loving home. We need some time to just be normal," he says as I hug him. Because I know deep down that this was going to be for all of us, not just an escape, but a break from the whole situation.
"Just what the Doctor ordered," I say.
"Actually, yes," he replied as we sat down next to each other buckling up, getting ready for the next chapter in our lives. We were going to be okay. No matter what went on with the trial we would still have our family and that was something more important than anything else right now.
"I love you," I mutter into his lips as I kiss him.
"I love you too," he says back to me.
