Fifty Shades Shattered
Chapter 28: Family
Ana
I woke up alone. I knew things would be rough, but I never liked waking up alone. I looked to the nightstand to see that it was only a little after 4. I get out of bed to go find my wayward husband only to come face to face with him as he was reentering the bedroom door.
"I thought I would be back before you woke up," he mutters as I slip my arms around him.
"Hmm," I mumble back.
"I was going over things with the team. I bet you'd like to snuggle some more," he says as I follow him back to our bed.
"Christian, do you think we will ever just have a peaceful normal life," I ask as he has wrapped his arms around me.
"I can only hope to give you that, but right now it is filled with drama. I just can't imagine how so much crap can happen to one family. I think we must have a pole sticking up with a flag that points to our home," he half jokes.
"Har, Har," I laugh as he kisses the crock of my neck.
"I just want you to know Ana I meant what I said about cutting back at the office and spending more time here," he whispers into my hair.
"I know. I also know you will do whatever you think is necessary to protect us. Christian just remember we cannot live 24 hours a day in this apartment," I say as he just nods his head into my shoulder.
"Yes, I am aware of that. Ros reminded me of it when I called her to let her know I wouldn't be in," he says.
"You're not going into the office," I ask turning around to face him.
"No, there is way too much going on. I mean Ana you are due anytime. The freak that left us his message is out there. I wouldn't be able to focus if I was at the office. God, knows that I almost died the last time I left you here alone, and," he isn't able to finish that sentence. The only time was when Grace was born and Lincoln blew up the apartment. Yes, I have that memory etched in my mind forever.
"So, it'll just be your study then," I say smiling.
"I will be in there for a few hours to tidy up items, and Ros has the power to sign official documents. Yet, in the even that someone wants to be a butt, the paperwork can be brought here for me to sign or look over," he says with a grin on his face.
"Okay, enough shop talk. Mr. Grey I think I need more sleep before your spawn wakes up," I mutter jokingly as I close my eyes to his chuckling laughter beside me.
It was several hours later that I was awoken by two very well dressed monsters jumping on the bed. They were wearing some very silly outfits that didn't match at all. I guess that's what I get letting Christian dress them.
"Hey you two, I said wake mommy up, not squish her," Christian says as he comes into the room carrying a tray with some food on it.
"I see you got the kids ready," I motions to my two little ones still half jumping on the bed.
"Nah, I didn't get them dressed. I let them dress themselves," I say with a huge grin.
"They are not leaving this apartment looking like that. I will not have them plastered all over those rags in that," I say pointing to Grace and Teddy. They both were smiling.
"Awe, mommy I like my outfit," Grace says as she moves up the bed closer to us. I knew it they were up to something.
"Okay you two go change before your mom had a coronary," Christian smirks as he gives me a kiss and gets up following after his spawn. We would talk about this after I ate.
"Ugh!" I shout out as I toss the pillow he was lying on at him. He was quicker and caught it before tossing it back on the bed.
"I hope you join us soon," he smirks as he walks out of the room. I am so frustrated right now that it is driving me crazy. I hate having a target on our backs but will help to keep our children safe as well.
"Good morning Ana," Gail says as I enter the kitchen. "I saw Mr. Grey got the children dressed this morning," she replies softy bringing a round of laughter from Taylor and Sawyer who were both seated at the counter.
"Laugh it up boys because if they haven't changed we'll be going out. That means you two will be seen walking around with them in their beautiful outfits," I smirk as I feel Christian's arms wrap around me.
"Have I told you how lovely you are when you are on the attack mode," he asks kissing my neck.
"Not lately," I say as I see Taylor and Sawyer walking toward the security room.
"Well, you are. That was kind of hot as well," he says sitting down at the counter.
"Right," I laugh as Gail places a cup of hot water in front of me. I reach for a tea bag and place it in the cup. "Where are those lovely children of ours?" I ask as I pull the bag out.
"Grace is teaching Teddy to write his name correctly. Then she asked Gail to bring in her tea set to have afternoon tea with her brother," he says lifting up his pinky finger as he sips his coffee.
"Nice," I say as I nudge him slightly. He smiles at me as he looks over the newspaper.
"I know at some point the kids will have to leave the apartment, but right now I am going to try to keep them entertained here," he says looking toward me as he says it.
"Christian, you don't have to explain that to me. I want our children protected as well. I know right now it isn't the time to go out and I will stay in for now. I will take whatever precautions when I do go out," I say as he takes my hand and kisses it.
"I know that. I will try to only keep the security to the apartment when needed. Ana I would give everything up to keep you safe," he says softly.
"I know that. O knew what I was getting into when I married you. I didn't expect all of this, but I knew what your life was like. It's you and me no matter what," I say as Taylor enters the room again.
"They found a fingerprint. It belongs to Jack Hyde," he says as Christian looks to me. Jack Hyde was a name we hadn't heard in a while. If he was involved things aren't going to get better anytime soon.

Christian
I knew things weren't going to get better before they got worse. The morning started out with a lot of laughs as I allowed the kids to dress themselves, but then as Taylor tells us the news it shatters my world. I thought we had heard the last of that man. I had enough to deal with Linc, Elena and now Hyde.
It has been years since I fired him for assaulting Ana all those years ago at SIP. What would be his reasoning to come after me now? Ana and I have been married for 6 years almost. I have left the world of bondage. Things were just getting on track.
I knew from some of the details that Welch had dug up on Hyde when we found all of my families' information on his hard drive that he was from Detroit. That was so far the only link connecting the two of us together. Grace had given me some information about the foster home I had been in before they adopted me, and the other link fell into place. Hyde and I were both at the same foster home.
My only thought through all of the information I had been able to gather was that he was upset I ended up where I was. It seemed like he might have a complex of misplaced thinking. The only thing I can think is he is jealous of me and everything I have acquired through my hard work.
"You doing okay in here," Ana asks as she passes by the door of my study pausing for me to answer.
"You would have married me if I was dirt poor right," I ask as she comes into the room.
"Where is that coming from?" she questions sitting down in my lap.
"I was wondering if my life was like Hyde's, if you would still be with me or someone else," I ask lying my head on her shoulder.
"I sure wouldn't be with Jack. He made me feel strange when I was around him. Christian I have told you several times that I would have married you if you were living in a shack with a huge stomach and no teeth," she says laughing. I have to chuckle slightly at that description.
"The things you say sometimes make me wonder about your mind," I say jokingly as she lightly hit me.
"Okay, Mr. Grey next child we have you can carry him or her. Darling because it ain't no picnic carrying your spawn," she says trying to get up.
"I was kidding. I know you didn't marry me for the money. Come one relax," I say pulling her tightly to me.
"I know that was though one of the things Jack said when he attacked me. I was after your money," she says. I nod knowing that it was a something that needed to be left alone.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything about it. I was just thinking our lives would be better if I didn't have all this money. If I was someone else," I say as I think for once having all this power and influence is what got me to where I am today.
"You have done great things with your power and money. Christian I think you have helped so many people over the years keeping companies up and running, helping employees with jobs. You are nothing like Jack Hyde. You use you power and influence to help make the world better. He would hold that power and influence over people's heads. Think of where all those workers of yours would be if you weren't here," she says bringing me back to why I loved her so much.
"You are correct. Fair point Mrs. Grey," I say kissing her.
"Good, now that your done with your wallowing let's go enjoy our family before we are no longer cool," she says leading me into the media room where the kids were playing with legos. I smiled as I watched for a moment how lucky I was. Sure Hyde was an issue, but right now I would focus on my family and deal with him another day.
