Chapter 6

I stole another glance for the second time this past hour, and took a sip of my tea. Tomoyo and Sakura seemed to be catching up, as with what I gathered, Tomoyo had just come back from a show in Paris that was showing her newest line. Was this what Eriol had meant? He didn't want to hurt his wife by aiding in her best friend's assassination? I made sense but I felt no remorse. My employer had his reasons, and whatever they were, I wasn't going to get involved. I put my cup down and closed my eyes and just listened.

"So Syaoran, I heard you're a little stray pup that Sakura picked up," Tomoyo said teasingly. I opened one eye and glared at her.

"Since when have I been a 'little pup'?" I growled. Sakura and Tomoyo giggled.

"Your name means Little Wolf, correct?" ….I didn't have anything to say to that…..

"…Hmph" Tomoyo and Sakura continued catching up and then they noticed the time.

"I better head home before Eriol gets worried. Goodnight Sakura! Goodbye Syaoran!" Tomoyo said cheerfully, heading out the door. Sakura stood up to show her out and lock the door. By the time she came back, I'd already brought the cups and plate to the sink and rinsed them. Sakura stretched and yawned.

"I guess it's time for me to sleep. Goodnight Sya-!" I grabbed Sakura and enveloped her in a hug. I tried to ignore how right she felt there and the faint scent of cherry blossoms that stuck to her.

"Thank you for letting me stay here," I whispered into her ear. I felt her face burn against my chest and her heart started to beat faster. I chuckled at the cuteness and innocence she was showing. Wait, cuteness? Nonononono Syaoran Li you are NOT going to take a liking to your target. I mentally shook myself and let go of Sakura. Her face was beet red and she stammered a "you're welcome" and fled to her room. I stared after her, perplexed about my own heart, which felt warm and was hammering just as hard as hers was. I shook my head. Nah, probably I just lusted after her. After all, it wasn't like Sakura was ugly. She was quite adorable in fact, in a sort of clumsy way.

I headed towards my own room and slipped off my boots and clothes. Stepping into the shower, I pondered on how to kill Sakura. Did I want it to be a quiet death or dramatic and rough? My thoughts wandered from death to how Sakura smiled, and how her giggles sounded. I felt my little "friend" stand up and make its presence known. I cursed and turned the water to cold. Very, very cold

The next day, Sakura didn't go to the café, and chose to stay at home that day. I ignored the fact that she made it obvious she did it for my sake.

"So what do you think we should do today?" Sakura asked to no one in particular. I raised an eyebrow at her and put down the newspaper I was reading.

"Anything is fine," I replied, flashing a smile. A red flush spread across her cheeks and she looked down at her tablet.

"How about a picnic in the park? The weather seems to be nice," she suggested. I nodded.

"That's alright with me." She began packing a lunch and kept asking what my favorite foods were. I pondered that question for a bit.

"Just make sure there's chocolate," I said, helping her organize the food. I slipped in a bar of chocolate and smirked. No one is taking my chocolate from me.

We took the bus to the park and chose a spot right under a large maple tree, spreading the blanket and setting down rocks to anchor it. In the picnic basket, Sakura had packed sandwiches, fruit, and some water to help digest it all. We split the sandwiches and water and ate in peaceful silence. The wind smelled sweet and a bit crisp, probably a sign of the upcoming winter. Sakura pulled out a bundle of cherries and we ate it pretty fast. Honestly I had no idea how in the world I was stomaching all this food. Usually, after eating a few bites, I get nauseous. So far, no such signs are showing. Hm, weird. Seeing all the bare cherry stems, an idea hit me.

"Did you know that if you can tie a cherry stem with your tongue, you're a good kisser?" I asked mischievously. Sakura cocked her head and her eyebrows lowered.

"Really?" she said curiously. I nodded and popped one in my mouth. After I few seconds, I stuck out the end of my tongue, along with the knotted cherry stem. Following my example, she took on into her mouth and I watched as she attempted my challenge. After a minute or so, she showed me the knotted cherry stem. Giggling she said, "I guess I'm a good kisser." I smirked and leaned in. I pecked her lips with mine and quickly drew back before she could register what had happened.

"S-S-Syaoran!?" she stammered, blushing crimson. I turned to her and smirked.

"Is there something wrong cherry blossom?" I said winking. She flushed and leaned in, kissing me for a few seconds. She pulled back and turned her head away from me. "T-that's how you kiss properly." I pulled her face back to me and kissed her again. This time, she kissed back eagerly and opened her mouth a little. I eased my tongue in her mouth and explored her. She tasted sweet and intoxicating. We both pulled back to catch our breaths and Sakura scooted close to me and snuggled against my side.

"…So…what are we now?" Sakura asked me nervously. I blinked and looked down at her. What were we indeed…. I mentally shook myself. This is all for the job! I hugged her tight and kissed her forehead gently.

"You're my cherry blossom."
