I watched as Sakura fluttered about, cleaning the cafe in preparation for closing up for the night. Jealousy was raging in me from before when I caught some stupid little piece of s*** string at Sakura's chest. And she didn't notice! I growled and huffed. Sometimes Sakura's innocence was too much. I paused. Why was I jealous? I'm only faking affection, so why am I entitled to being jealous?
"A small, timid hand rested on my shoulder and I looked back to discover Sakura had finished, and was ready to go. Silently, we walked back to the condo. She hummed a soft lullaby to fill the silence and I almost regretted having to kill her. But orders were orders. Apparently, my co-workers aren't going to be vey happy either. After finding out about Tomoyo, I'd looked into my other co-workers and found out they were all married to one of Sakura's best friends.
I snapped out of my trance when Sakura flicked my forehead. Concerned, she silently asked if I was alright with her eyes. I paused for a second before giving her an awkward hug.
"I need to go somewhere. Don't stay up for me ok? I don't know when I'll be back," I said, giving her a kiss on the forehead. She returned the kiss, placing hers on my lips.
"Alright then. Be safe," she replied, giving me a warm smile. My heart was hit with a pang. Oh god, I don't know what was with me, but I knew I wouldn't allow Sakura to be killed. Filled with new resolve, I called my client.
"...So you don't want to kill Sakura anymore?"
"That's right sir," I said emotionlessly. A long silence hung in the air. He smiled.
"You think I don't know about your fondness of Sakura?" He whispered. I tensed up and barely had time to react before hands grabbed my arms and I was dragged out of my chair. Shackles were clamped onto my wrists and ankles as I looked hatefully at my client.
"You think you're the only assassin out there that excels at your job? What do you think the Armed is for then?" My eyes widened. I was hired by the Armed? The Armed were a ghost assassin guild who were well renowned in the Underground for their superhuman skills. I could feel the blood drain from my face. I knew I wasn't getting out alive. I laughed out loud, regretting not realizing my love for Sakura before tonight.
A foot soldier produced a knife and gave it to my client and he walked up to where i was forced to kneel on the ground. He grabbed my bad arm and stabbed through my bicep, going straight though the bone. He pulled it back out and snapped my arm, breaking it. I braced myself for the pain, but it never came.
"So the drug was successful? That's something to celebrate," my ex-client smirked. I was confused. Drug? "Confused eh Syaoran? That bullet you were brazed with a few weeks ago was coated with a drug made to paralyze the nerves of a limb. Your arm? It's still alive but you just couldn't communicate with it. Well, we'll give you function of your arm again." Someone wearing white scrubs and a mask stepped up with a syringe and injected my arm with a clear liquid. I felt nothing for a little bit. Then icy pain crept up my arm and began to burn. I screamed at the intensity of the pain, being used to not feeling anything with it. Tears dripped from my eyes.
My ex-client produced two more syringes. "Now the other arm..."
"That's enough!" A voice rang out. A familiar one. Just now, it wasn't warm and caring, it was hard and unforgiving. Sakura's voice.
She dropped down and kicked my client away from me. What was she doing here? I reached toward her with my good arm and cringed when it moved my broken arm. She turned back to me and knelt next to me. Sakura took out a syringe and injected my arm with a green liquid.
The pain in my bad arm receded and it was numb again.
"Just a simple painkiller," she explained, disposing of the syringe and punching a soldier in the nose. My mind reeled at the sight. Sakura's eyes were cold and hard. Shivers ran up my arm. A thud reached my ears and I looked past Sakura at my ex-client. He was unconscious on the ground with Tomoyo standing above him with a taser.
What surprised me most though, was Eriol, Yamazaki, Naoko, Rika, Chiharu, and Terada came rushing in from the doors, guns ablazing and empty cartridges clinking on the ground. Terada grabbed me and slung my over his shoulder.
"Everyone let's go!" he barked out, shooting another foot soldier in the head that was planning to sneak up on Risa. Risa shot him a grateful look before following Sakura and the rest of the gang out the door. Eriol jumped into the driver's seat of a large van while Tomoyo jumped into the passenger side. Eriol sho the van out of the lot just as cars trailed us. Everyone else had piled into the back and Sakura and Chiharu began shooting the tires of the enemy's cars.
Naoko put an oxygen mask on my face and told Yamazaki and Terada to hold me still while she worked on my arm. My eyes widened. I screamed out in pain as she cleaned the wounds and set my arm in a cast. I spared one glance at the cold, empty Sakura before blacking out for the second time that night.
Ha! Mad at me for not revealing Sakura's past yet? No worries, that's coming up soon! I know I rushed this and I'm late but I've been busy with some personal matters this past month. So happy reading everyone!
