NellytheActress: I'm glad I'm making you happy. What's the secret?
Elphaba'sGirl: Galinda is an awesome sister!
Elphabalover101: I had to stay true to the musical. It's the least I can do with the lack of Fiyeraba and all.
Chanty420: Nessa will come. I like Nessa, so she's coming.
CrayolaCreation: Boq's coming too. It's Bessa.
Elsaba Thropp: Thank you! Elphaba does deserve to be a princess.
Galinda smiled as she slowly opened her eyes the next morning. Giggling silently so she wouldn't wake Elphaba, she pushed herself up and stretched. Turning, she smiled at her sleeping roommate. She jumped out of bed and hurried over to her.
"Elphie?" she whispered, gently shaking the girl's arm.
When Elphaba's didn't respond, Galinda tried again, this time more urgently. "Elphaba?"
When she was still met with silence, Galinda turned on red flag mode. "Elphie! Elphie! Please wake up!"
Silence. Tears welled in Galinda's eyes and she stubbornly wiped them away. "Come on, Elphie! Please!" The blonde collapsed next to the bed, crying. What was she going to tell Fiyero? She couldn't tell him that she couldn't get his little sister to wake up.
A soft moan knocked the blonde from her thoughts. Sniffing, she looked up and saw the emerald princess stirring in her bed. Another moan and she forced her eyes open. Galinda breathed a sigh of relief and helped Elphaba into a sitting position.
"Good morning, Elphie," the blonde smiled, wiping some of Elphaba's raven hair away from her face.
"Good morning, Galinda," Elphaba smiled up at the blonde. Her smile turned into a frown when she noticed the tear stains on the blonde's cheek. "Are you alright? You look like you've been crying."
"I'm fine," Galinda said simply, helping Elphaba into a sitting position.
"Are you sure?"
Galinda smiled. Elphaba seemed really concerned about her. "Yes. I'm sure."
"Were you trying to wake me up?"
Biting her lip, Galinda slowly nodded.
Elphaba looked down at her hands, looking ashamed. "I… I'm sorry. I don't have any control over it and I…"
"Elphie, you don't have to explain it to me," Galinda said, gently wrapping the green girl in a caring hug.
Tears slid down Elphaba's cheek and she quickly wiped them away. "I… I didn't mean to scare you like that. I know you must have thought I was dead or something."
"It's okay, Elphie," Galinda said, giving the green girl a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"I'm sorry," Elphaba sobbed onto Galinda's shoulder.
Galinda rubbed small circles on her friend's back as she whispered words of comfort to her. "It's okay, Elphie. It's okay."
Slowly, but surely, Elphaba's sobs died down to an occasional whimper. Smiling, Galinda kissed her forehead one final time. "There."
Elphaba lifted her gaze to meet Galinda's and gave the blonde a grateful smile. "Thank you."
Smiling, Galinda helped the emerald princess to her feet and helped her get ready. Even though Elphaba protested Galinda's assistance at first, she finally gave in and allowed the blonde to help her.
"You have really pretty hair," Galinda smiled as brushed the green girl's hair.
Elphaba sat quietly on the edge of her bed, her eyes closed as the blonde ran the brush through her hair. "Thank you," she whispered softly, opening her eyes.
Giggling, the blonde ran the brush through Elphaba's raven hair once more before declaring the job complete. Smiling, Elphaba slowly pushed herself to her feet and grabbed her crutches. Galinda grabbed her bag and, slinging it over her shoulder, walked up to Elphaba and gently took her arm.
Elphaba protested, saying that she could walk to the door by herself, but Galinda would hear none of that. As long as Elphaba was rooming with her, she was technically the blonde's responsibility. She made sure the emerald girl wasn't aware of this arrangement, knowing that she would not be happy with the setting. And the last thing Galinda wanted was for something bad to happen to her boyfriend's younger sister, who was not only the princess of the Vinkus, but her new best friend, as well.
Elphaba finally gave up protesting once they were out of Crage Hall. She begrudgingly allowed the blonde to lead her to the café, where they were supposed to meet Fiyero for breakfast.
"Hi, Fifi!" Galinda said, waving to her boyfriend, who was standing right outside the café.
"Hi, Glinny! Fae-Fae," the prince smiled, looking up at them.
Galinda slowly released Elphaba and watched with a smile as the green girl slowly walked towards her brother. She collapsed in her brother's open arms, wrapping her arms tight around his waist.
"I've missed you," Fiyero whispered, kissing her forehead.
"It's only been one night," Elphaba giggled, looking up at Fiyero. "What did you do when I was still at home?"
"I'd missed you even more."
Playfully shaking her head, Elphaba slowly pushed away from the prince and moved to walk into the café. Fiyero quickly grabbed her arm and opened the door for her.
"Yero, I can do it myself," Elphaba insisted.
"I know."
Elphaba frowned as Fiyero led her inside, closely followed by Galinda. They ordered breakfast and idly chitchatted.
It was finally time for them to go to their classes. Elphaba didn't have the same classes with Galinda and Fiyero, considering they were in their second year and she was in her first.
"Yero, I'll be fine," Elphaba said as Fiyero led her to her first class, Political Science with Dr. Dillamond.
"Fae, I don't want to leave you alone," Fiyero said.
"I won't be alone. They'll be other people in the class."
"That's not what I meant."
"Please, Yero. I'll be fine by myself."
"I…"
"Yero… please?" Elphaba whispered.
"O-Okay," Fiyero said, kissing Elphaba's hairline and leading her into the classroom. He led her to a seat in the front of the room and helped her sit down.
"Yero?"
"Huh?"
"You can go now."
"Oh." Fiyero realized that he was still standing next to his sister. Sheepishly running his hand through his hair, he leaned over and gently kissed her forehead. "Are you sure you'll be alright."
"Yero, go. Now."
"Okay, okay. I'm going." Fiyero turned and walked towards the doorway. Stopping, he turned around and looked at her. Elphaba looked up and sweetly wiggled her fingers in a 'goodbye' wave. Fiyero slowly walked out the door, his eyes trained on Elphaba that he didn't notice the wall in front of him until he bumped into it. Rubbing his nose and grumbling under his breath, Fiyero went to his own class.
Elphaba smiled as she got out her books. She was in her first class as a collage student. The sound of wheels across the wooden floor grabbed her attention. Looking up, she saw a young girl with shoulder-length brown hair with a white headband in a wheelchair being pushed by a short Munchkin boy.
"Hi. Is this seat taken?" the girl asked, wheeling up to Elphaba.
Shyly, Elphaba shook her head.
Smiling, the Munchkin boy stepped forward and pulled the chair next to Elphaba away.
"Thanks, Boq," the girl smiled, wheeling into the empty space. "I'm Nessarose Thropp, but you can call me Nessa," the girl said, smiling softly at Elphaba.
"I'm Elphaba," the green girl whispered shyly.
"The Princess of the Vinkus?"
Slowly, Elphaba nodded.
"I'm Boq," the Munchkin boy said, not wanting to be ignored.
"My father's the Governor of Munchkinland," Nessa quipped, turning towards Elphaba.
Elphaba gave the younger girl a small smile.
"Again, I'm Boq, just in case you didn't hear me the first time," Boq said again.
"Is this your first year, too?" Nessa asked.
"Yes," Elphaba nodded.
"Mine too!"
This girl seems to like to talk a lot, Elphaba thought.
"What's it like living in the Vinkus? I hear it's beautiful."
Elphaba soon found herself in a conversation with the Governor's daughter.
"'Just go up and talk to the first person you see. That's how you make friends.' I'm never going to another seminar," Boq said in a glum voice, slumping into the seat next to Nessa.
The day passed quickly for Elphaba. She found herself enjoying her classes and her freedom from Fiyero and Galinda. She knew it wouldn't last, but she was glad she could be away from them constantly down her back every five seconds.
What she didn't know was that she was going to find something out. And she wouldn't like it one bit.
Does anyone know where I got Boq's line about seminars from?
