Freddie Benson was in his room debating whether or not he'll be attending the party. He stood in the middle of the room in nothing but his boxers, thinking if it'll be worth it.
He had just finished showering and pulled out two shirts, striped and plain polo. Which one to choose? He didn't even know where to begin.
Should he wear the black jeans or the plain blue ones? He didn't know! Fashion isn't his thing!
Did he even want to go to the party? Yeah Sam would be there, but still? He had a huge math test to study for.
And he'd look like a total loner to go by himself
"Freddie?" Carly knocked on his door. He pulled on his pants in record time before yelling it's open and Carly walked in not even giving his shirtless torso a second glance.
"I need help balancing equations for my Chemistry test," she said and then noticed the mess of clothes.
"What happened here?" she asked looking around in shock. Freddie never made a mess of things.
"I don't know what to where," he said sitting down on his bed. Carly just raised her eyebrows.
"Where you going?" she asked taking a seat next to him.
"A party," he mumbled
"A PARTY!" Carly yelled at him getting up
"Shhh," he warned, his mother was still in the house.
"A party?" she whispered
"Yeah, Sam's invite,"
Carly looked shell-shocked for a few seconds then smirked, "Have fun," she said winking and beginning to leave
"Wait," Freddie called out, "Maybe you could come with me?"
"I really don't belong here," Carly whispered to Freddie as they walked into the party house.
"Shhh, relax. We'll be fine," he reassured her holding her hand.
"I don't like this Freddie," Carly whispered scared to him referring to the booze and wild dancing. This was not Carly or Freddie's 'thing.'
Heck, this was the first party they've been to.
"Freddie can we go?" Carly asked nervously squeezing his hand
He was about to respond when a figure appeared before them causing Carly to jump in fright. She calmed down when she realised it was Sam and slowing regular, teasing Carly came back and she announced she was going to get something to drink and winked at Freddie while walking away.
He knew what she was doing. Leaving him alone with her
"She knows that the only thing available is booze, right?" Sam spoke breaking the silence between them
"Yeah, she'll figure out soon enough," Freddie joked and noticed how flushed Sam was.
Maybe a tint of jealousy in her eyes.
"You're here," she smiled
"Well I was told to live a little," he winked
If he wanted her to fall in love with him, he needed to not be Freddie Benson. He needed to test his playful side.
She was full on grinning at him when someone oh so rudely interrupted the eye talk.
"Hey Babe," the person mumbled standing directly in front Freddie, but his back to Freddie and eyes on Sam.
Freddie didn't know why but he had the sudden urge to smack this guy senseless. And he probably was gonna if Sam hadn't spoken.
"Baby!" she gushed hugs him immediately. Freddie back-pedalled. They even began to kiss senselessly. Right here, in the middle of a crowded room.
Freddie didn't know what hit him, but it hit him hard. It pained and burned to see Sam kiss another guy, although they're just 'friends' and they've never kissed. But still, it hurt.
This was all for the bet, coming to the party, befriending her. But what Carly said made him think. Did Sam like having her feeling toyed? Of course not, she's human. This bet suddenly seemed like a cruel and awful idea. He didn't want to continue it. But he didn't want to lose, especially not to Trey.
But one thing was certain, he's starting to like the complicated mess between him and Sam.
He looked a little disgusted at the scene before him and began to back away.
Sam seemed to have noticed him from the corner of her eyes, because she pulled away.
"Hey, where you going?" she asked
"Just to find Carly, to see if she's okay," he responded. Her face fell and an indescribable emotion appeared instead. Jealousy?
"Yeah, go see if she passed out already," she spoke with such venom. His eyebrows shot up and he walked away regretting it.
"Hey," Freddie said sitting down on the couch next to Carly.
"Hey," she said looking up at him.
"Bored?" he asked
"Uh-huh," she said and pulled her feet up to her chest, he sighed
"I'm sorry," he said, "If it wasn't for me, you won't have to be here,"
She smiled, "It's cool."
"Hey nerds!" a guy called "You playing or what?" a guy called
"Huh?" Freddie asked. Play what?
"Spin the bottle," the guy said.
"Yay!" Carly said pulling her and Freddie off the couch.
They settled on the floor, Carly sat in between some really cute guys.
"Kay, doll, you spin first," one guy said and Carly blushed a deep red before reaching out and giving the bottle a light spin. She hoped and prayed that it ended on the cute blondish- brownish guy next to her, but no it ended on another brunette. Freddie.
"No," was the first thing Carly muttered "I'm not kissing that!" she spat.
"Hey," Freddie said. What was so wrong about him?
"No offence just that you're like my brother. This is creepy," she defended
"Do it, or strip," the cutie Carly was crushing on. "I'd rather not," she giggled nervously.
"Or we could do it in private," the cutie suggested.
"No," Freddie said immediately his big brother side kicking in, "That will not be necessary," he said pulling Carly by her shoulders.
"This is awkward," he muttered before attaching his lips onto Carly's. Once upon a time he dreamt of this moment, however, now, it seemed weird. He felt like he was kissing his sister. He didn't even give it a full five seconds before pulling away. Carly didn't even kiss back.
Across the room Sam was watching with distant eyes, she finally had the reason to hate this brown-haired prissy girl.
"So," Trey began as Freddie approached him
"So?" Freddie asked confused.
"Sam? How's the 'love' coming along?" he asked winking.
"Fine," Freddie swallowed.
"No it's not," Trey said slamming Freddie's locker door hard.
"Hey!" Freddie snapped
"Kissed her yet?" Trey asked and Freddie blushed
"No," Freddie mumbled
"Sexed her?" Trey asked with raised eyebrows.
"Of course not," Freddie rolled his eyes
"Hugged her?!" Trey asked at wits end
"I'm getting there," Freddie said scratching his head.
"Dude, you're getting nowhere! The first week of the month is already gone as of today!" Trey complained
"First comes friendship then comes love," Freddie defended.
"Whatever, I see I'm already winning," Trey said before walking away.
"Hey Freddie," Alyssa said coming up to him
"Hey Alyssa," he said hugging her
"I missed you," she gushed
"Same here," he smiled at her.
Alyssa's smile dropped for a moment as she saw Sam watching her from the corner of her eyes.
"I gotta go. But I'm glad to be back," she said pecking his cheek.
Freddie was generally surprised. He blushed a bit but continued to browse through his locker for his books.
"There are two of them!" Sam exclaimed to her two friends across the hall.
"What?" Cass asked and Maurine looked equally confused.
"Why is that nerd so popular!" Sam complained.
"Freddie?" Maurine asked, "He was at my party last night,"
"Yeah, I invited him," Sam said
"Why?" Cass asked
"Cuz, I felt like it," Sam said shutting her locker glancing at Freddie.
"Do you like him or something?" Maurine asked
"What?!" Sam asked outraged. How dare she assume such a thing?
"You're not denying it," Maurine said
"I don't like him!" Sam defended. She lied though. Yes she didn't love him, but something about seeing the girl kiss his cheek made something inside her stir in the wrong direction. A feeling she never felt before. She always knew this nerd and she's finally now talking to him. She doesn't even know his favourite colour or book, or movie. She knew nothing about him. Plus she had a boyfriend. So why does she feel like this? Why does she feel jealous when someone else kisses him? Why does she feel like this?
She hates it. It's a bullet to the heart.
The bell rung and Sam sighed. Oh great! She said English with the dweb now.
"Hey Sam" Freddie said smiling at her. He was even taller than her.
She scowled at him before walking straight past him shaking her head.
