"Then she just shook her head and walked away," Freddie re-told his story to his best girl-friends, Alyssa and Carly.
"That doesn't make sense," Carly said, "Just the other day she invited you a party," Carly said seemingly just as confused as Freddie was.
"Wait, what? A party? Hosted by that?" Alyssa said with scorn.
"She's not that bad," Carly said picking up for Sam, even though she didn't know her. See Carly was one of those girls who thought there was a good seed in every human being.
"She's quite nice once you get to know her," Freddie said siding with Carly.
"When did you get so close to her?" Alyssa asked
"We skipped around on Wednesday," Freddie said and Carly added the wink causing Freddie to roll his eyes.
"Doing what?" Alyssa asked again but this time Carly and Freddie shared a look with some sort of secret message and Carly quickly changed the topic.
"Hey, no use lurking in the halls,"
"Yeah, let's go for lunch," Freddie said walking away with Carly by his side and Alyssa following wearily behind.
"Yo Pucket," Freddie said sitting down next to Sam in biology.
"Sup Benson," she said nodding her head but looking directly in front.
"So I see you're talking to me," he cheeked
"Don't flatter yourself, I was getting bored with dumb," she said pointing to Cass, "And dumber," she finished pointing to Maurine, causing Freddie to chuckle and her to try to surpass a laugh.
"Well in due case, I don't feel flattered," he joked
"I don't even know what you just said," Sam chuckled
"Neither do I," he admitted causing the both of them to go into laughing fits. It was just this ease they felt when next to each other.
"Remind me how I became friends with you," Sam cheeked
"I believe it was my dashing looks together with my chocolate brown eyes," he joked causing them to both smile.
"That's enough for me," she said and the teacher walked in. It was third term, otherwise known as everyone's favourite term. Fieldtrip, partner work and the awkward part, learning about sex.
But it was a great term.
"I believe all of you know what the topic is this term," Mr. Wooleo said while some boys wolf whistled.
"But it's not just that," the teacher continued, "It's human interaction,"
"That's boring," Sam called out from her seat and Freddie suddenly turned red and regretted sitting next to her.
"Oh is it Miss Pucket," the professor mused, "Stand up," he said suddenly.
Sam rolled her eyes and regretfully shot out of her seat.
"I see you found a new seating buddy," he said referring to Freddie, "What ever happened to Miss Maurine?"
"The nerd sat there and you walked in before I could've pushed him off," she said preparing to sit. Freddie was bright red, never used to the attention he was getting now.
"How respectful of you not to push him off in my presence," Mr. Wooleo said and Sam gave a bow from her seat.
"But tell me there is another reason that he's still there," Mr. Wooleo continued and Sam raised her eyebrows.
"Well he's smart, I can copy off him," this was getting way to awkward way too fast.
The entire class laughed, even Freddie who was doing his best to remain calm. Out of all the days, he'd chosen this one to sit next to Sam.
Tell me Sam, what do you look for in a boy?" the teacher asked.
"Huh?" Freddie asked even though the question wasn't directed towards him.
"Let's see," Sam said thinking, "He needs to be taller than me, he needs to have brown eyes," throughout this time Freddie was mentally checking off the list of things he was from what Sam said.
"He needs to be funny, and maybe a little smart, and he cannot look and act like a nerd, "well that stung Freddie. He was classified as a nerd. And he thought he was Sam's dream guy. Not because he wanted too, maybe he did, but for the bet. That's what everything's for, the bet.
"Nerd?" the teacher asked.
"You know glasses and braces with the knee high socks and all they talk about is computers and technology and books, nothing romantic! Like us girls wanna hear that!" Sam shouted. Freddie was completely screwed. He was and is all of those things, except for the knee high socks.
He leaned back against his seat and rubbed his head while he sighed, he was utterly, utmost screwed.
"Seems to me you have your dream guy in front your eyes, Your voice tells me something but your body begs to differ," the teacher concluded with a smile that caused Sam to go bright red and Freddie red but with anger.
"That's what we're gonna do for homework," the professor said and the entire class groaned.
"Pick a partner, get to know what each other look for in the opposite sex, and know their personalities and their dreams. Get to know a friend basically," Mr. Wooleo said and the bell rung signalling the end of class.
Freddie gave all hope up in this class. Any little once of courage in him that told him to could do this, left. He was never gonna win the bet, which seemed horrible to do to Sam. He'd just have to back down and lose. Oh Trey was gonna have kicks outta this one.
"Hey Benson!" Sam called out to him. Freddie turned around with a tired expression.
"Yes Sam," he said.
"I"ll met you by the lab for the project?" she asked a little hopeful maybe. Maybe she didn't wanna be stuck with dumb and dumber he she said earlier in class that he's next to her so she can copy off him, she's using him.
"Sure," with a worn out, beaten down smile. She looked as though she was going to say something but Freddie walked out before she had the chance.
Review? That'll be nice :)
