"Hey," Sam said to the brunette girl Freddie was always with.
"Hi," she replied uncertainly.
"Um, do you know when Freddie gets out?" Sam asked pointing to the AV club door. They had a project to work on.
"Yeah, next hour actually," the girl said checking her phone. She was sitting on the floor leaning against the lockers and Sam joined her.
"You're that girl who was with Freddie at my party right?" Sam asked
"Yeah that's me," Carly giggled awkwardly.
"I never got you name," Sam smiled, if she was friends with Freddie, Sam had to at least try with his friends.
"I'm Carly," she smiled and stuck her hand out
Sam looked confused but still shook it, people still did that these days?
"Sorry," Carly apologized
"That's okay," Sam said and the conversation died down
"So, why are you waiting for Freddie?" Sam tried
"We walk home together," Carly said, "He lives in the apartment right next door to mine," she added.
"That's nice," Sam said
"Why are you waiting for Freddie?" Carly asked quietly like she was scared Sam would lash out at her if she dared speak.
"We have a project," Sam said. After a few beats of awkward silence, Sam broke it by sighing.
"I'm not the one you should be weary of," Carly blurted out suddenly
"What?"
"I see the looks you give me, I'm not the one who has a crush on Freddie. I love nothing more or less than just a brother," Carly said looking directly at Sam.
So she had seen the looks Sam had given her
"Sorry about that," Sam apologized
"Alyssa. She's the one you should be careful around." Carly confessed
"Alyssa? Is that the one with short hair and green eyes?" Sam asked trying to picture her.
"Yeah and with curly hair," Carly said.
"Alyssa," Sam let the word roll of her tongue.
"She had a crush on since 3rd grade," Carly said. "She's the one to look at,"
"Thanks," Sam said. She wasn't sure why Carly helped her but she didn't complain or question.
"I like your eyes," Carly said suddenly.
"Huh?"
"They're stunning. I always wanted blue eyes," Carly said
"Thanks, but brown eyes are in," Sam joked
"No! They're just plain," Carly said pointing to her eyes.
"What!? No! Even Cody Simpson loves them!" Sam joked and Carly laughed causing Sam to join in.
"Hey, there pretty brown eyes," Sam and Carly sung at the same time and then laughed even harder that they just did.
Sam was surprised at how much she and Carly got along. She's never think that a nerd girly-girl like Carly and a tomboy like herself could have so much in common. There was this ease of flow in the conversation, it was unexplainable.
"Hey come over to my house, we'll wait for Freddie there," Carly said suddenly pulling Sam up.
"I can't" she's only known the girl for five minutes and already going over to her house?
"Why not?" the smile disappeared from Carly's face.
"Sorry but I just-"
"Nonsense!" Carly said reading Sam's mind.
"I want someone to talk to! And you're fun! Don't worry, my brother would love you! And we got food," Carly said the last bit in a sing song voice and Sam was a goner
"Deal!"
"Hey Spence! I'm home!" Carly yelled as she opened the door. She and Sam talked all the way back, like they were friends since long before. She was having so much fun with Sam. She was glad Freddie had AV club today. Sam felt like a best friend.
"Yo Kiddo!"Spencer said coming outta the kitchen, "Who's this?" he asked pointing to Sam like she wasn't there,
"Spencer!" Carly scolded
"I am sorry. Where are my manners? What's your name sweetheart?" Spencer asked crouching down to Sam's level. Sam just laughed, this guy is classic!
"I'm Sam," she said patting his back, "And I heard you have meatloaf," Sam said pulling away from him and going to the fridge
"It's like I've known her all my life," Spencer joked.
"So Freddie's full name is Fredward?" Sam asked scooping watermelon into a ball and plopping it into her mouth.
"Uh-huh, and you should see his mother. She loves him but way too much," Carly said scooping up her own watermelon ball. They were on the couch just talking and were having a blast, they're so funny together.
"What? She's overprotective?" Sam asked
"Overly too much. Once she hunted cloud block for Freddie," Carly dished
"No!" Sam's jaw dropped, "That exists?"
"I know!" Carly said
"Yoddle!" Freddie announced walking in.
"Carly," he said "Sam?" he asked confused
"Good you're here! Finally Fredeewb!" Sam teased and Freddie rolled his eyes.
"Glad to see you too," he said, "Now what are you doing here?" he asked leaning against the door
"No, the question is what are we still doing here?" Sam said and a confused expression cam and Freddie's face causing Sam and Carly to chuckle.
"Huh?" he asked
"Later Carls," Sam said pulling Freddie by the shirt, off the door and then opening the door, "Bye Sam!" Carly called as Sam shut the door
"Carls?" when did Sam and Carly get so close?
Yeah no Seddie action there but there's a boat load next chapter! I promise! But if you wanna see it, you know what you gotta do...
