Chapter 8

Dyson raced back into the room, he'd managed to find his gun amongst the chaos of the clubhouse and now it was firmly in his hand pointed in front of him. He burst through the door, looking around wildly; he saw nothing out of the ordinary. The room was in perfect condition, no animals, no humans, no Fae, nothing. Kenzi was on the bed clutching the sheets around her bare body, she looked terrible. Her skin was too pale, not the perfect porcelain pale it usually was, it was pale enough for him to see her blue veins, standing out drastically. Her black hair was matted against her forehead with sweat, her skin was pulled tightly across her face in an expression of horror. The dark bags under her eyes and testament to how worn down she was. Above the bags though her eyes stood out, not like they normally did though just because of their icy color, but for a whole different reason. Her eyes were white, completely white, no icy blue, no black pupil, completely white. Kenzi's eyes were focused on a general spot on the wall, just staring, her pink lips parted as she panted. Dyson put his gun in his waistband and walked slowly to the bed. He'd never seen anything like this.

"Kenzi." He said her name softly. Her head whipped around as if it were unattached from her body and her white eyes fixed on him.

"Dyson. Son of the shifters, I'm glad you're well." the voice unlike Kenzi's in every way spoke right from her mouth. It echoed around the room, it sounded inhuman and vacant of all emotion.

"Who are you?" he asked. He'd seen possession before, but never possession like this. Kenzi's head cocked to the side, almost like a bird, judging whether or not it wanted to eat the worm crawling past on the ground.

"That is a question for a different time, all you need to know is that my presence inside this girl saved your life. I alerted her to where you were. I am quite proud of her despite her weak human body." the person or thing said.

"Proud of her? You need to get out of her, leave her alone. She has nothing to do with whatever is going on." Dyson said quickly. Her head cocked further to the side and she smiled, an eerie smile that sent shivers up Dyson's spine.

"But doesn't she? She has everything to do with this. She's misunderstood, just like you wolf. She's loyal to a fault, she's gorgeous, and kind, spirited and hopeful. She's everything I could ever dream of. She's the most perfect thing I've ever taken over."

"Stop speaking in riddles damn it!" Dyson shouted. Kenzi's hand shot out and Dyson flew off his feet, he slammed against the wall with such force he almost passed out. He landed in a heap, coughing and grunting in pain. His eyes scanned the floor and he saw two small pale feet in his vision, he looked up and Kenzi was standing in front of him, naked, white eyes glaring down at him.

"You Fae, you disgusting things, take advantage of what I've given you. I've allowed you this girl who is unlike you in every shape, form, and fashion and you've nearly ruined her." she smiled as if she'd won a chess game.

"So you're saying you did all of this. You took everyone away, why?" Dyson asked. She wagged her finger at him and smirked.

"No wolf, I didn't do that, I only saw what was already done as an opportunity to change Kenzi for the better. She doesn't need any of you. I could take her away from all of this, make her forget all of you, put her in a new place and she would flourish. Why she chooses to stay with you all baffles me. She is so much better than this."

"You can't take her away." Dyson said hurriedly, trying to scramble to his feet. Fake Kenzi lifted an eyebrow in defiance and stared at him.

"I can do whatever I like you silly wolf. Your rules don't bind me. There are rules far older than even you can imagine. Don't test me, because despite Kenzi being incredibly special, I can take her away forever. Just a snap of the neck and it's all over for her. Because even though she's got talents beyond your knowledge, she's still so human, and that makes her remarkable in every way." She said. Dyson stared at her with horror filled eyes. Would she really just kill Kenzi? He didn't dare move a muscle. Kenzi moved around the room, she was walking but it looked almost like she was floating, her steps so fluid and graceful, each movement looked detached in some way. Detached of all humanity, it looked unusual and alien.

"I don't see her obsession with Fae, but I do see her obsession with you Dyson. You are quite a treat to my old eyes." the voice echoed off the walls and Kenzi ran her fingertips over a purple striped shirt that hung over the TV. Dyson couldn't help the small smirk that found its way to his lips.

"Did you enjoy her Dyson? Does her energy feel good running through you?" Dyson watched her, her glowing white eyes roaming the room. His mind was racing. What the hell was she? Why was she inside Kenzi? How did he get her out?

"I can hear those racing thoughts Dyson. But I'm wondering myself if you're right to be worried about her. Kenzi does seem awfully weak. Can she handle what the two of you have to do? Going to endless lengths to find those you care about." She spun around and she was in front of Dyson before he could even take a breath, her small frame glaring right up into his face. His breath caught in his throat and she smiled, another creepy smile.

"Maybe you should just forget them all. Forget they exist and let them be wherever they are. Take Kenzi away from here and leave all of this madness behind." She said softly.

"I can't do that." Dyson said. Her hand landed on his cheek and her fingers were ice cold, Dyson winced at the pain that came with something that cold.

"You could be so happy. Wouldn't you like that? To be happy again. Happy like you were long ago? You remember happiness don't you Dyson?" she said. Dyson's heart slammed to a painful halt. Before another thought could pass, fake Kenzi dropped her hand from his cheek and stared blankly at him.

"Find your friends because they are in trouble. Don't turn a blind eye to Kenzi though, she has talent, extraordinary talent, and you've all yet to realize it."

"Who are you?" Dyson asked again.

"I have many names. A few of which not even you can't pronounce. A word of advice, watch out for yourself. You're all Kenzi has right now, and I can feel her sorrow and pain, it's not a nice feeling. Something about you Fae has drawn her in and for the life of me I don't know why. But don't get yourself killed wolf, you're special to her." The white eyes flashed and Kenzi's blue eyes were back. The whole persona seemed to leave in a rush and Kenzi fell forward. Dyson caught her and cradled her against his chest. She was shivering and shaking all over. He quickly got her back to the bed and into the sheets. She was shaking and mumbling something he couldn't understand.

"Shhh" He soothed her and rubbed her hair gently. He really had no clue how to explain to her what had just happened. How do you tell someone they are possessed by a crazy spirit? Not that Dyson even knew it was a spirit, he didn't have the slightest clue as to what it was. It could be anything.
