Chapter 16
Kenzi was lying on the couch asleep, curled up on her side with her hands under her head. Dyson was sitting next to her legs, his hand on her thigh. He wanted to keep a hand on her to make sure she was still alive and breathing. His worry for her only increased by the hour.
"We need to wake her up, she can help us find Bo." Trick said.
"She needs to rest." Dyson said as he looked down at her.
"We have to wake her up Dyson. We don't have a lot of time." Hale said.
"How much do you think Bo will appreciate you all forcing Kenzi to do something that clearly hurts her?" Dyson asked.
"We know it hurts her Dyson, but we have to find Bo." Tamsin said gently. Dyson bit down on his temper. He knew he was being unreasonable. Kenzi would be fine, they would figure this out and she would be fine. Bo would help, Kenzi would find strength in Bo, he knew that.
"Ok, fine." Dyson gently shook her. She stirred slightly and her eyes fluttered.
"Hey Kenz, you've got to wake up ok." He said to her. Kenzi opened her eyes fully and yawned.
"Sorry sorry, how long did I sleep?"
"Only an hour." Trick answered.
"Geez." She grumbled as she pushed herself up into a sitting position. The whole process looked like a struggle and Dyson resisted the urge to help her.
"Ok what do we know?" Trick asked.
"We know Bo is missing." Hale said.
"Thanks for stating the obvious." Kenzi said rolling her eyes.
"Kenzi, we need to know every single detail of your vision, anything and everything you saw." Tamsin said.
"Please don't call it that, vision sounds too comfortable, it's more like someone cut open my chest and poured lime juice and salt in the wound. Like a bloody margarita." Dyson chuckled at Kenzi's description of her visions.
"Ok so I saw Bo, she was like sitting in a chair, but I think she was tied down because she was jerking hard and she wasn't moving. There was a person in there with her. I couldn't hear what they were saying but whoever it was, they were hitting her cutting her. I could feel it, one here." Kenzi pointed to her collar bone.
"Here." she pointed to her arm and ran her finger down to show how long the cut was.
"And here." she touched her upper thigh and drug her finger across.
"Then the picture flashed and I saw her again but I think the day had changed. She looked like she was tired and I felt her wanting so badly to sleep. It flashed again and I saw her eyes, they were blue, I felt her hunger, she's starving." Kenzi was looking down at her fingers and Dyson knew she was crying. He couldn't see the tears, but he could hear them in her voice. She felt helpless, he understood that feeling, it was one he was feeling right now.
"Do you know what the outside looked like?" Trick asked.
"It flashed by to quickly." she shook her head.
"Ok, what did the building look like?" Tamsin asked. Kenzi shook her head.
"I don't know."
"Damn it Kenzi come on, focus!" she shouted. Kenzi jerked her head up and glared.
"I said I don't know! Back off!" she yelled.
"Easy, easy, calm down. Let me try something." Hale said. He grabbed a chair and slid it across the floor to sit in front of Kenzi and then he sat down and faced her.
"Close your eyes." Hale said. Kenzi did as she was told and closed her eyes.
"Now take a big deep breath and hold it." Kenzi breathed in and held it.
"Let it out very slowly." Hale instructed. Once again, Kenzi followed his instruction. Then Hale opened his mouth and let out a small very quiet musical note, barely audible. But Kenzi heard it, because her face and body quickly relaxed and she appeared much calmer.
"Ok Kenzi, stay with me and my voice." Kenzi nodded.
"We're walking toward this building where Bo is being held, can you see anything?" Kenzi's eyebrows knitted together and she shook her head.
"No."
"Is it dark?"
"Yes"
"Ok, I want you to stop walking and sit down slowly. Reach out and touch the ground. Tell me what you feel."
"Tall grass, really tall. Rocks, small, um…pebble type rocks."
"Are there any cars around?" Hale asked.
"Yes. A black town car. The tint on the windows is really dark, I can't even see through them." She said.
"Ok great. Now I want you to get up and walk toward the building."
"I don't want to." Kenzi shook her head.
"Kenzi you have to. This is the only way we'll find Bo. We have to go toward the building. I'm right here with you." Hale said gently. Kenzi swallowed hard and crinkled her eyebrows again.
"I'm outside the door."
"Great, good girl. Now what does the building look like?" Hale asked.
"I can't tell."
"Yes you can. Look at it closely. Touch it if you have to."
"It's gray, there's rust on the sides."
"How big is it?"
"Not big at all. It's like a shed people keep their yard tools in."
"Ok good. Is the door unlocked?"
"Yes."
"Go inside."
"I can't."
"Why not?"
"They're in there."
"Who?"
"The people doing this. The people hurting us."
"Kenzi you need to open that door. Do it for Bo." Hale said. Kenzi took a deep breath and they all waited. When she let her breath out it was in a shudder and a tear rolled down her cheek.
"Oh no…Bo." Kenzi whispered.
"What? Is something wrong with Bo?" Hale asked.
"She's bloody and bruised. It stinks so badly in here."
"What's it smell like?"
"Blood, and sulfur a lot of sulfur. Bo, she's asleep."
"Kenzi is Bo ok?" Hale asked. A sob came out of Kenzi's mouth and tears fell fast from her closed eyes.
"I can't find a pulse…she's not breathing…Bo's dead."
