Chapter Four

~Jadin's PoV~

I was warm and laying on something soft almost like a bed. For a moment I thought I had awaken from my bizarre dream but the strange foreign smell passed my senses.

I am in a bed and away from my friends. Panic surged through me, oh god they had their way with while I was passed out. I dared open my eyes as my heart rate sky rocketed.

My first sight was of a strange man looking over me. I let loose a blood piercing scream as I tried to remove myself from the blankets. I found myself a corner in the room and curled into myself in a protective manner still screaming.

"Auron what is going on?" a strange woman asked. Oh no! His wife caught us. Oh no! My mind was repeating the phrase over and over. I didn't her the so called Auron respond.

The woman slowly made her way closer and flinched closer to the wall, maybe I could disappear.

Dag!" I screamed tears streaming down my face. "Dag! Dagonet help me!"

"Nadia go to the training yard, fetch the boy Dagonet." The woman ordered.

"She's delusional still from the fever." I continued to call for Dagonet.

"Jadin, luv. It's alright dear, I know you are frightened." The woman spoke softly. She got to close and I let out another shrill scream. She backed up quickly taking the hint. "Jadin, my name is Marisole. My son Arthorious he brought you to me." I shook my head, I didn't know her son and if he brought me here it had to be for his own pleasure.

Moments later Dagonet burst into the room panting. He ran for me from god knows where.

"Dagonet." I sighed shaking with tears. He had me in his arms in an instant.

"Shhh, little one you are safe." I hugged Dag for dear life.

"What happened to me?" I cried.

"You fell under a fever, you scared all of us. He is the healer that has treated you." Dagonet explained as he motioned to the man I had seen upon first waking up.

"Where are we?" I asked visibly calming down now that a familiarity was present.

"We have made it to our post Badon Hill. Our commander helped us secure your safety. That is his mother, though I know not her name." Dagonet finished explaining, I nodded in understanding. Dagonet helped me to stand and led me back to the bed. "How are you fairing?" he asked once I was once again tucked away under furs and blankets. The healer had passed something to Dagonet who mixed it into the soup Marisole gave him for me.

"Rather stupid. I'm sorry for my outburst." I answered and offered my apologies.

"Nonsense, we do not condone you for actions when your mind is tempted by illness." Dagonet stated pushing my hair away from my face and handed me the soup.

"What's in it?" I asked looking at it with suspicion.

"Herbs, it will help you heal faster." I nodded and began to eat the soup. I instantly felt warm. I slowly put down the bowl, many thoughts swimming through my mind.

"Dagonet?" I asked quietly, he gave me his full attention. "What is to become of me?" he let out a sigh as he thought of his answer.

"You are to stay with us and be our lady of fortune." He had a warm smile on his face. "We will let nothing harm you." I hugged Dagonet. Exhaustion was taking over and Dag noticed. "Sleep little one." I could not deny that I needed sleep but I did not want to be alone, I was haunted by my fears.

"Will you stay, please with me?" I asked quite timid. Dagonet looked at me obviously concerned. He looked to Marisole for permission, she nodded.

"Until the mourn, luv. But I am afraid he must go to his training." Marisole answered with a kind smile. I nodded in understanding.

"Thank you." Marisole smiled one more time before ushering the healer out with herself. Dagonet sat beside me on the bed and I curled myself into his embrace. Comforted with a feel of protection I quickly fell into a dreamless sleep.

I awoke the next day to find Dagonet gone and the room empty. I assumed they didn't want another episode like yesterday. A soft knock came from the door before a servant poked her head in.

"Good you are awake, I will let the Lady know at once." She curtsied before taking her leave again.

Not even a moment later Marisole gracefully entered the room with a bowl of stew and fresh clothes draped over one arm.

"How was your sleep Jadin?" she asked placing the clothing over a chair and then she sat on the side of the bed with the bowl. "You must be hungry, here child." She handed me the bowl. I hesitated just a moment but Marisole noticed none the less. "Worry not the only thing added were herbs from the healer." I nodded and started to slowly eat the stew.

"I'm sorry and thank you."

"Heaven's child there is no need, you have been through a great deal. It is to be expected." She reassured me by placing a gentle hand over my own. "Now my son has informed me of horrendous tales."

"What has he told you?" I asked almost afraid to find out.

"First why don't we get you washed up and out of those filthy rags that was once your clothing." She said brightening the mood with a warm smile. "Your fever broke in the night and once you are clean I know you will feel much better." I nodded as she called for the servant I had seen this morning.

Nadia I found her name to be set up a wooden tub and filled it with warm water and poured a little bit of lavender oil in it. It was most appealing. Marisole then helped me into the water.

"Now Arthorious tells me you were thrown to the guards. Is this true?" she asked while rubbing soaps through my hair.

"Yes I didn't come from that tribe or any Sarmatian tribes." I answered. Washing dirt from my skin passed the silence until Marisole thought of her next question.

"If you are not Sarmatian where do you hail? Why are you not with your family?"

"It's kind of complicated but I was taken from my home and found in Sarmatia." I answered, my home didn't even exist yet.

"How horrible. You poor child, fear not I will not let the Roman's disgrace you. 'Till the time comes where we can return you to your home you shall stay with my son and I." Marisole said and rinsed my hair.

Once the water went cold I was dressed in a nice dress and asked if I wanted to tour the village and fort.
