Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters they belong to Cassandra Clare.

A/N: This is an early birthday present for my lovely friend. They are kind-of hard to write because they are newly introduced characters, but I gave it my best shot!

It wasn't a humid day like all of the others that had come to pass during the summer months, the skies were still blue and the sun still kept everything warm. Except today there was a cool summer breeze breaking up the heat that had made the air sticky the past few weeks, which is exactly why Livvy and her brother, Ty had decided they were going to sneak out for a couple of hours to spend some time together. Considering she was the younger of the two of them-despite them being twins-she was definitely the more mature and acted older than Ty. So that meant that she felt more charge and a sense of protection over her older brother, purely because he was one of a kind and not like anybody else. He needed her and she would go to the ends of the earth for him.

"Ty, are you ready? Don't forget your towel!" Livvy stood in the front doorway of the L.A Institute, watching as her brother raced down the stairs with a bee clutched tightly under his arm. She fought not to smile but couldn't help it, she shook her head laughing slightly. Ty had grown attached to bees and had been as long as she could remember, he was fascinated by them and ever since he took the stuffed bee everywhere.

"I'm coming, I'm coming. I brought my towel and I picked up a hat and sunscreen too. You know, just in case." Livvy smiled and took all three items from him, aside from his stuffed bee, which she knew he would fight to the death to give up. She placed them all into her bag, and took her brothers hand and left the Institute.

"Come on then, let's go to the beach!" She looked over at her brother, who grinned shyly back at her while plucking at a stray string from the bee. It made her smile to know he found comfort in both her and his bee, if she wasn't there-which would never happen-he always had his bee.

When they reached the beach, they walked side by side down to the shoreline; Livvy placed the towels on the soft golden sand while watching Ty wander off. She shook her head and laughed a little to herself. Ty had always been the type to explore, always looking for an adventure or mystery, yet more often than not he found those in books. She always usually found him with his nose in a book or buried under them; he was a boy who lived for knowledge and she was the sister who lived to protect him from everything else. And she was completely fine with that.

Livvy placed the bag beside their towels and called Ty over, who had strayed as far away as the pier, so he looked tiny in the distance. She waited for him, looking out over the waters edge, she worried sometimes that one day Ty wouldn't need her, that he would be brave enough to protect himself and she'd be completely lost in the world. Ty was different from every other than her siblings, he was secluded and set apart from the rest and only she could understand him. If he took to anyone else, they should be honoured because he never did that with anybody. A small hand slid into hers, she didn't need to look down to know it was Ty, she'd know him anywhere. They stood in silence for a long while, just watching the waves move and out against the sand, lapping gently.

"Want to go in? We could just paddle for a little while." Livvy broke the silence, looking across at her brother with a small smile. In return Ty looked up chewing on his bottom lip and holding his bee to his chest. He looked like he was weighing the pros and cons of going in the ocean. She knew he knew of Emma's fear, but she knew he hadn't taken it on as one of his own. Tentatively and carefully she reached over and stroked her hand over the head of his bee, something he only let her do. That bee was his property and he was stubborn and possesive of it. It was a sign of trust and as long as she had trust in her brother, that's all she needed.

"Not to deep? I don't want to get my bee wet, and I can't swim very good yet." Livvy smiled and nodded, giggling a little. Ty frowned a little at this, but he let her tug him down and into the water until it wrapped around their calves. The water was warm and soothing, a relaxation from all of the teaching and training that occurred in the Institute.

"You really think I'd let anything happen to you Ty? I'd turn the world over to keep you safe." Ty looked up at her words, then across into her eyes, she saw it then. The reassurance and all the trust he held for her in his heart. He knew that she would never let any harm befall him, and if the tables were turned he'd do the same for her. They say Parabatai were closer than brothers, but she knew in that moment they didn't need runes to prove how close they were or to prove they had a connection. She felt it then, there was a connection already there, one they had built on their own. Even if they never became Parabatai, it didn't matter, she already saw him as a part of her anyway.

"I know." Ty whispered as he wrapped his arm around her back, leaning his head onto her side clutching his bee close between them. She smiled out over the ocean and wrapped her arm over her brothers shoulders. They had each other, that was all that was needed.
