Emily POV:
Today we are heading back to Atlanta. Its bitter sweet, I'm ready to go home but this is home in away to me. To all of us.
"granny, I coming back." I hear Gabby say. I turned around watching my mom smother Gabby in kisses.
"I know but I'm going to miss you." I smiled turning back putting the last of my clothes in my bag. Maya was suppose to be flying home with us but something came up and she had to fly to New York and wouldn't be back until January 17. which was the day after Gabby starts back to school.
"Ready to go Em?"
"Yeah mom, I'm going to miss you so much."
"I'll see you soon."
"Finally home." I said walking through the front doors of our house. "Gabby just leave your suit case down here, go lay down." she nodded sleepily and walked up the stairs.
"Can I sleep in your bed?"
"yeah go lay down." she smiled weakly before walking out of sight. I sat down on the couch relaxing when my phone started to buzz.
Hey just texting to see how your flight was –Mom
Hey mom it was okay. just got home
okay call me later tomorrow – Mom
I pick up our suit cases putting them in my room against the wall. I take Gabby's shoes off and take off her pants putting her under the covers before doing the same. I laid down and Gabby cuddled into me. I wrapped my arms around her pulling her close to my chest.
"I love you mommy." she whispered kissing my neck.
"I love you too baby girl." I rubbed her back falling asleep with her wrapped in my arms.
I woke up to the bright sun and my phone ringing. I grab it off the charger behind me and smile when I see Maya's name.
Hey baby
hey, how was your flight?
good
did I wake you?
yes but its time to get up anyways
how my baby?
sound asleep still. I'm taking her out for breakfast once she wakes up
where?
Ihop since that's her favorite
yeah it is
so any news on when you are coming back
no I have back to back interviews and I have to start practicing for that concert in Florida.
I thought all your concert dates were cancelled
they are expected this one. I cancelled the others until later dates but this one is for medical research and I'm not cancelling it. all money made goes to several different research hospitals. I'm also donating some money.

I looked over at Gabby and she has her curly hair laying all over her face. I brush her hair back and smile looking at her. I missed the days when she was little and I would walk into her room and just watch her sleep. she looked so peaceful and it just calmed me. I want another one but I don't want to mess up like I did with her.
how the hell do I forget to spend time with my daughter? I feel like a horrible mother. I let my job become number one. I pushed everything aside to focus on work. I rub that one curl backwards and Gabby opens her eyes slowly and looks at me.
"morning baby girl."
"morning mommy."
"did you sleep well?"
"yeah."
"ready to go eat?" she nods her head yes while moving closer to me burying her face in my chest. I rub her back and kiss the top of her hair. "we can sleep in a little longer if you are still sleepy?"
"no, I'm hungry."
"okay, go take a shower and then we can leave." she nodded her head rolling out of bed.
After we both take showers and get ready, we get and the car and drive down the road to IHOP. "I want a huge stack of pancakes."
"with whip cream and strawberries?"
"you remembered?"
"I remember everything my baby girl likes. Do you want orange juices?"
"yes please." she said smiling. "oh mommy can I have bacon too?"
"yes you can have bacon." the waitress comes and takes our drink and food order and walks away.
"Mommy?"
"yeah baby?"
"can you come to my school talent show?"
"you tried out?"
"yeah and I want you and mama to be there. Can you?"
"of course I will be there. what are you doing?"
"it's a surprise." she said smiling. "Do you think Aunt Aria, Spencer and Hanna and Uncle Ezra, Toby and Caleb can come too?"
"I don't know baby but you can call and asked them?"
"really?!"
"yes of course."
"thanks mommy."
the waitress brings our food to the table and I thank her. we begin eating while Gabby talks about school. she excited to go back. I hear a group of people scream and I try to see what's going on but I can't see behind the wall. I just hear, 'Oh my god its her!" a smile spreads across my face when I hear, 'Emaya I love you!'
"Gabby look who is here." I said smiling and she gets up and screams.
"Mama!" she runs and Maya lifts her up in a hug. she peppers kisses all over Gabby's face. "Mama I missed you!"
"I missed you too." I walked over and smiled giving Maya a peck on the lips. "And I missed you."
"why didn't you tell me?"
"its was a surprise."
"I'm glad you're here. Breakfast?"
"yes! I'm starving." we all sat down and enjoyed the rest of breakfast. we pay for breakfast leaving a tip and driving home.
"How long are you here?" I asked Maya as we sat on the couch cuddling. Gabby was out back playing with Oreo.
"I few days before I have to fly to Toronto."
"why Toronto?"
"I have an interview out there. I love Canada."
"more than New York?"
"just a little bit more than New York?"
"what about LA?"
"home is always home." I laughed and sighed rubbing her side.
"I hate you being gone."
"I hate it too but its work. I'll be home soon."
"I have Hanna looking at houses in Rosewood for us."
"great one less thing we have to do."
"what do you mean?"
"I been thinking about when we get there we need to set up an doctor's appointment for you."
"for what?" I asked confused before I smile spread on my face. "Maya are you serious?"
"I'm serious. Let's have a baby." I yelled straddling her waist pressing my lips against hers.
"thank you baby."
"mommy, can we go get ice cream?" Gabby asked walking into the living room with Oreo chasing her. "Ouch Oreo, stopping biting my leg!" she yelled as Oreo barked at her and bit her foot again. "OREO!"
"sit Oreo." I said and she sat down.
"how you do that?" she asked tilting her head. I smiled moving off Maya's lay and pulling Gabby into me. I butterfly kisses all over her face and she started laughing trying to get away.
"don't try to run." Maya said while tickling her.
"mommies stop!" she yelled while falling down on the floor. Maya and I followed suit and started to tickle her on the floor. "Stop I have to pee!" she yelled.
"go to the bathroom." Maya said laughing, patting her butt as she ran to the bathroom. "Oreo." Maya sang and she tilted her head sideway. "Oreo." she started to move from side to side shaking her tail. "come here girl. come here Oreo." Oreo ran and Maya started to roll her back and forth on the floor repeating her name.
"can I have ice cream now?"
"nope."
"why?" she asked poking her bottom lip out. "you two just tried to kill me." we both started to laugh at her exaggeration.
"Because I didn't get any kisses and I missed my baby girl." Gabby smiling and went and curled into Maya hugging her tight.
"Only thing you had to do was ask." she said looking up at Maya giving her three kisses. "I love you mama."
"I love you too." she kisses Gabby nose and push Gabby off her. "now we go for ice cream."
"how rude." Gabby said and Maya wrapped her arms around her kissing her cheek.
we took the three minute drive to the ice cream shop down the street and sat inside enjoying the ice cream. "when do you leave again mama?"
"in a few days."
"I was wondering—can you come to my school tomorrow?" she asked looking down not making eye contact.
"why?" we both asked and she put ice cream in her mouth. Maya pulled her ice cream away from her and asked why again.
"because its career day. we bring our parent to school and they tell what they do for a living. I want you both to come but I know mama has to work and she probably can't come."
"of course I will come." I said and she got this bright smile on her face.
"we both will."
"yes." we heard her whisper while reaching for her ice cream back.
narrator POV:
that night the girls laid in bed with Gabby watching movies when they all fell asleep. at four in the morning Maya's phone began to ring. she groan rolling over reaching in the semi darkness for her phone. she push the green button to make it shut up laying it on her face.
"yeah I'm on my way bye." she said hanging the phone up and getting out of bed pulling some sweats on. she walked over to Emily side of the bed and kissed her cheek.
"where are you going?" Emily whispered and Maya whispered where before grabbing her keys and leaving.
Maya returned a little over an hour later and curled back up and bed, cuddled close to Gabby.
Two hours later the alarm went off and Emily got Gabby up and ready for school.
"are you coming to school today right?" Gabby asked as Emily pulled up in front of her school.
"yes baby girl. mama and I will both be here at eleven promise."
"pinky promise." Emily grabbed her pinky with her own and kissed it as she climbed out of the car. "I love you." she said before running into the school building.
Gabby POV:
it was almost time for the parents to come for career day. I was sitting in my desk talking to my friends about what our parents do when this new girl who started her last week walked up.
"My mom is a lawyer and my daddy is a doctor. they are the top in their career fields."
"okay." Samantha said rolling her eyes and looking at me.
"what does your mom do Sam?"
"Jalisa, why are you over here talking to us?" Sam asked Jalisa and she smiled.
"I'm being friendly."
"My mom a lawyer and I don't know my dad."
"my parents are rich and we live in this huge house. I'm pretty sure you all have seen it." she gloated.
"Again okay." Heather said. No one liked Jalisa for this exact reason. when she got here she went on and on about how she is from New York that she lived in the huge house and how rich her family is. she talked about how she had three closet back home. Honestly, my moms together have more money then her entire family but I wasn't raised to gloat about what I have.
"Gabby, what does your parents do?"
"you will see when they get here."
"really their jobs are that bad you don't want to say?"
"no but I want it to be a surprise. you know." I said with a smile. I really didn't want to be mean to her but she was pushing my buttons. All my friends started laughing because they knew who my mama was and knew when Jalisa found out she was gonna freak.
"Class, settle down all of our parents are here. I am going to let the parents in now. I would like for all of you to be respectful." she walked over to the door and let the parents walk in. I seen mommy walk in but not mama.
I waved mommy over and she walked over to me. "where is mama?"
"she coming up right now. she was parking the car." I nodded my head as she walked to the back and sat down.
"who wants to go first?" Jalisa of course raised her hands and her mother went, apologizing that her husband couldn't make it because he was in surgery all morning. I looked back at mommy and she raised her hand telling me to go next. I nodded my head and turn back around to pay attention to Jalisa mom.
"I work with one of the top law firms in the state of Georgia." oh god she just like her mother. I rolled my eyes and raised my hand once she was done. I walked to the front of the class and introduce my mommy just as mama walked in with Aunt Hanna.
"Hanna!" I yelled running and giving her a hug.
"hey little bit. Finish what you were doing?"
"oh yeah sorry." I said and seen a shock look on Jalisa face. "this is my mom Emily and she is a lawyer. This is my other mom Maya, she is a singer-songwriter and a artist, most should know her as Emaya. She's not my mom but she my Aunt Hanna and she is a fashion designer." I said and hugging Hanna before going back to sit down.
"Well like Jalisa mom I am a lawyer as well. I work for a major law firm here in Georgia but I am moving back to Philly to work with Mrs. Veronica Hastings, who is the best defense lawyer in the United States. I will be working for her. Being a lawyer is a great opportunity and it's what I wanted to be as a child other than in the Olympics. Everything is pretty exactly the same like Mrs. Parks just said."
"Being a recording artist is hard work. you are away from you family a lot. you work long hours, your barely get any sleep, but I love what do and wouldn't change it for the world."
"As a fashion designer I get to meet some pretty famous people and design clothes for them to wear. I own my own stores. The only thing I can tell you is that if you love it do. If you love arguing, be a lawyer. if you love writing, be a writer. if you love singing or dancing become that. Whatever you love work hard to make dream become a reality."
they went and sat down and I broke the rule and went and sat on mama lap. I missed her and when she was home I loved cuddling into her all the time. when the career day was over they had to leave and I was sad. they kissed me on the cheek and I hugged them all bye.
"point."
"Set."
"Match." Samantha, Heather and I said laughing.
"your mom is Emaya? The Emaya?" Jalisa asked.
"yeap, now you should stop gloating about what you have or did you parents teach you nothing. you shouldn't display what you have to people because you never know what someone else might have." I told her and turn when I heard the door open.
"Gabby, grab your bag lets go." Mama said and I smiling leaving with my mama.
