Chapter 4: Love is Eternal
A/N: Hey folks, sorry for the self imposed hiatus. Hopefully this is worth the wait. This chapter is where Azula finally proposes to Mai, therefore the next few chapters cover the wedding. Chapter 9 is where it gets really dark.
Azula was working on her bending, going through the basic moves. Suddenly she felt a presence behind her. It was Mai. She was leaning against a pillar, eating an apple.
"How long have you been standing there, love?" Azula asked. Mai didn't respond at first, but then she walked up to Azula and kissed her.
"What was that for?" she asked.
Mai smiled at her. "Because I love you, so much." she replied.
Azula suddenly remembered something. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a jewelry box. Mai's eyes lit up at the sight of it.
"Is that what I think it is?" she asked.
"Yes." Azula replied, getting down on one knee. "Mai Tazmyne Desako, will you do me the honor of marrying me?"
Mai uncharacteristically squealed with joy. "Yes! Yes! Yes!" she yelled.
Everyone came out to see what the commotion was. "What's all the noise?" Zuko asked. "I'm trying to work!"
Mai turned towards and said, "Azula & I are getting married!"
Zuko's jaw went slack, but then he shook his head. "Well done, dear!" he said, kissing his sister on the forehead.
"Thanks so much, Zuzu!" she said.
